February 17, 1923 – September 2, 2025
With so much sadness, our family has lost our North Star, Karl John Walters, to old age. He was 102 and a half. He was born on February 17th, 1923 and passed on September 2nd, 2025. Though we have had him for a long, long time, losing him now is still too soon and we are heartbroken. He was larger than life and we have so many wonderful memories with him and of him we could write several books if pen were put to paper. He was a proud WW2 veteran who was in the Pacific Theater as a trained Avionics electrician and spent 44 years in a job he loved working for the Milwaukee Railroad. He was a hell of a hard working, fun guy who was happiest when he was spending time in the great outdoors with friends and family. He knew a lot about everything and guided each of us along our way. He is so deeply loved. Military honors and Innurnment will take place on Saturday, October 4th at 11am at Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, Iowa, where he will be united again with his sweet wife, Bonnie (White) Walters.
He is survived by his daughters Susan (Walters) Barlow and Kris (Walters) Vogelgesang. Grandchildren, Bonnie (Cottrell) Burr, Steven Cottrell, Kevin Kloberdanz, Kelly Kloberdanz, Kirk Kloberdanz, Kathy (Brian) Scheuss, Pam (Barlow) Litterer and John Barlow as well as 22 great grandchildren and 25 great, great grandchildren.
