Young couple found dead in Northern Iowa house

A young couple was found dead in a Northern Iowa house, and police have yet to disclose the cause of their deaths.

WEBSTER CITY – A young couple was found dead in a Northern Iowa house, and police have yet to disclose the cause of their deaths.

On Monday, June 30, 2025, at approximately 10:45 AM, officers with the Webster City Police Department were dispatched to a residence located at 1201 James Street, Webster City.
Upon arrival, officers located two deceased adults at the property. The cause of death remained under investigation, and the identities of the deceased were being withheld pending notification of next of kin. At the time, investigators believed this is an isolated incident.

The investigation remained ongoing.

Days later, the Webster City Police Department identified the individuals involved in the June 30, 2025, death investigation as:

• Ryan Myers, age 28 of Webster City.  According to an obituary, he was born on August 15, 1996, in Webster City, Iowa to Todd and Lisa (Hoversten) Myers. He attended the Webster City Schools, graduating in 2015. He worked as a mechanic at Blakes Auto Repair in Webster City, and then as a meat cutter at Prestage Foods, near Eagle Grove.  He enjoyed tinkering on cars, and lawn mowers. He was part of the pit crew for drivers at both the Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City and the Sports Park Raceway in Fort Dodge. He also loved attending vintage car shows, and fishing around Webster City area.

• Ashley Harbert, age 30 of Webster City.  According to an obituary, she was born December 29, 1994 in Storm Lake. She graduated from Webster City High School in 2013 and attended ICCC graduating with a degree in Criminal Justice. She had previously worked for Tasler’s Pallet and PDM in Boone. She enjoyed camping with her family, kayaking, archery and going to the gun range. Most importantly she loved her daughter, Brianna.

The cause of death for both individuals remain pending, awaiting autopsy results from the Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner, police said, and the investigation remains ongoing.

No further information was made available.
