Brett Waugh, age 45 of Algona, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at the MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City, Iowa. A Celebration of Brett’s life will be held at a later date. Lentz Funeral Home of Algona is assisting the family.
Brett Randall Waugh was born on October 5th, 1979, to Susan Wadsworth Hagen and Randy Waugh at the Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. Brett spent most of his childhood in Des Moines, Iowa where he attended East High Public School. Brett later moved to Algona where he worked various jobs in the restaurant industry. Brett also attended vocational school in Denison, Iowa for welding. Brett enjoyed playing disc golf and fishing with his dad. Brett was always willing to help when anyone needed.
Brett is survived by his father’s significant other, Rhonda Clayton of Algona; grandmother, Lorene (Lovell) Waugh of Norwalk, Iowa; sister, Lisa (Richard) Carlson of Surprise, AZ; brother, Carl (Ambre) Waugh of Titonka, IA; brother, Tanner (Saralee) Hagen of Cedar Rapids, IA; sister, Desiree (Tyler) Zeman of Wilton, IA; and brother, Gary Lee Shaw Jr of Marshalltown, IA; step siblings, Valarie Lauck of Algona, IA, Kyle (Rachel) Lester of Algona, IA, Jennifer Pike of Des Moines, IA, Jesse (Christine) Stammer of Algona, IA, Jody (Marcus) Gifford of Las Cruces, NM, Wade McClellan of Ankeny, IA; many nieces and nephews; and uncles, Alan (Arnita) Waugh of Norwalk, IA and Steven (Rita) Wadsworth of Newton, IA.
Brett was preceded in death by his mother, Susan Wadsworth Hagen; father, Randy Waugh; and his grandparents, Dwight Waugh, Perry Wadsworth and Marjorie Meyer Wadsworth.
