
OTTUMWA, IOWA – An Iowa man crashed his motorcycle and tragically did not survive the accident, according to emergency responders.
On March 31, 2025, at approximately 7:07 PM, the Ottumwa, Iowa police department and Ottumwa fire department responded to the area near the intersection of Clay and Benton Streets for a single vehicle accident involving a motorcycle. Upon arrival, first responders located and identified 58-year-old Richard Lee Christy of Ottumwa, Iowa, as the operator of the motorcycle.
Despite life saving measures, Richard Lee Christy died from injuries he sustained from the accident.
According to an obituary at Tharp Funeral Home, Richard Lee Christy worked construction and did spray foam work. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and rock hunting. He was a very talented artist and tattoo artist. Richard had a great sense of humor. He also was very generous, had a huge heart and would do anything for anyone. He enjoyed going for rides and having cool ones and some smoke with his buddies.
