Deadly Ames shooting investigation snares arrested woman suspect

AMES - A man was recently shot dead here in this Iowa college town, and police announced they arrested a woman for robbery in connection to the case.

AMES – A man was recently shot dead here in this Iowa college town, and police announced they arrested a woman for robbery in connection to the case.

NIT previously reported that at approximately 6:30 PM on January 18, 2025, Officers were dispatched along with medical personnel to an apartment in the 200 block of South 5th Street in Ames, Iowa. Upon their arrival, they found a man identified as Parker L. Stoneburner, suffering from a gunshot wound. Parker later died from his injuries at a local hospital.

Days later, police announced that as a result of the continued investigation, 19-year-old Destiny Skurdal of Ames, Iowa, has been arrested and charged with first-degree robbery, a class B felony.  Skurdal (pictured at top) is being held in the Story county jail on $100,000 bond.

Police say the investigation into this case is active and ongoing.
