WADENA, IOWA – A mom and her kids are lucky to be relatively safe after an allegedly drunk Northern Iowa man slammed into the back of her red 2011 GMC Acadia.

On December 7, 2024, at approximately 1:02 PM, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a two-vehicle accident on Cedar Road near Filmore Road, approximately three miles north of Wadena. After further investigation, it was determined that 39-year-old Beverly Irene Brumm of Postville, Iowa, was traveling northbound with her two children in a red 2011 GMC Acadia SLT-1, when they were struck from behind by 43-year-old Justin Amos Pritchard of Decorah, Iowa, who was also northbound and operating a blue 2013 Chevrolet Equinox LT.

Minor injuries were received and cleared by medical personnel.

The Acadia was disabled and received approximately $10,000 in damages.

The Equinox is considered a total loss.

Pritchard (pictured at top) was found to be intoxicated and was arrested on the following charges:

– Operating While Intoxicated 1st Offense (Serious Misdemeanor)

– Failure to Maintain Control (Simple Misdemeanor)

– Failure to provide proof of Financial Liability (Simple Misdemeanor).

Also, Beverly Brumm received a citation for No Valid Driver’s License.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Wadena Fire Department, Wadena First Responders, and Gundersen Ambulance.
