MASON CITY – A theft in progress was reported at the Kum & Go gas station located at 1303 4th Street Southwest at around 5:00 pm on Tuesday.

A female customer reported to a Kum & Go employee that there were some kids in the back by the liquor and it appeared they were stealing.  The employee took action and confronted the male juveniles. The juveniles took off, and it was reported that they were heading southeast of the store.

“It looked like there was an adult that walked in ahead of them, he seemed to be the lookout,” commented the employee.  “We have been hit by these kids many times and it’s always alcohol. I suspect they are doing it for the parents.”

The male juveniles were described as wearing hoodies and carrying string backpacks. They were seen on 6th Street SW and Fillmore Avenue.  The employee identified the juveniles in a photo, saying “that one with the dark sweatshirt is the one that tried to steal the alcohol.”

The juveniles took off running when they realized their picture was being taken.

Mason City police officers arrived on the scene at 5:05 PM for the report of the suspicious juveniles.  According to a police report released Wednesday, officers “made contact with the juvenile(s) and they were banned from the property.”  The report shows three juveniles the police interacted with as suspects.  No charges were filed in the incident and police did not release any names.

Caning is the answer!

When I was young stores and bars and resturants and any old business had a right to tell people to leave that they didn’t want. There might of been some good people told to leave but that’s just how it goes, nothing is perfect. I say get back to letting stores & etc. be able to say ok people get out. It will be safer that way.

It’s time to stop being so easy on these brats and start cracking their asses with belts, probably wouldn’t do any good anyway.

From the looks of the picture they may be heavily armed and extremely dangerous. Gangs like this are taking over our town. We need to put an end to these types of crimes in Mason City. It is time for our people to stand up and start a revolution to put these types of criminals on death row.

Are you kidding me? From the looks of this photo, these are really young kids, I wouldn’t think that kids this young would have much more on their minds than video games and Nick Jr! I really hope that you are not minimizing the activity that they are being accused of?! And if you are, please, please use protection because morons like you should not reproduce! Remember….abstinence is power!!

Thank you “Anonymous” for your common sense. I got quite the laugh about the “armed and dangerous” comment.

They’re not stealing it for the parents, they are stealing it for themselves. I’ve heard of a group of 14 and 15 year old girls that steal alcohol from Target. Hopefully the management at Target will catch them soon!

Damn South End.

Probably from Detroit.
