WINNEBAGO COUNTY – An Albert Lea man perished in a car crash as cops gave chase in Winnebago county.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash took place on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. At 10 PM that night, on US Highway 69 at 212 Avenue near Lake Mills, 61-year-old Jesse A. Chandler of Albert Lea, Minnesota, was fleeing police in his 2005 Lincoln LS. Chandler failed to negotiate a curve in the road, entered the ditch, and rolled. Chandler, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the LS and was killed.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by the Lake Mills police department and the Winnebago county sheriff, as well as Lake Mills fire and ambulance.
