AMES – People enjoying an evening at this Iowa public pool suddenly found themselves hiding in the locker rooms while cops looked for a nearby suspect said to have a gun.
Ames Police responded to a report that person at the Furman Aquatic Center was being threatened by two individuals outside the fence and was said to have a gun. Police received the call at approximately 6:47 PM on Thursday, May 30.
After alerting police, Furman staff moved all patrons into the locker rooms in accordance with facility protocol. They remained there until the area was deemed safe by Ames Police.
Ames Police determined the individuals involved had no firearms. These two individuals were issued no trespass orders, which bans them from the property for one year.
