Services have been entrusted to Lentz Funeral Home of Algona.

Donna Marie Moore, the daughter of Clyde and Marie (Holm) Moore, was born on October 16, 1934, on a small farm outside of Burt. She attended country school.

Donna married Dean Steven in May 1951 and from that marriage she had four children, Dean (DG), Robert, Colleen and Lori.

Donna was later united in marriage to Gordon Schubert on December 23, 1972. They made their first home on Blackford St in Algona but moved out to Oak lake in 1978. They enjoyed dancing to the Memory Brothers even traveling up to the Lakes to see them. They liked to travel in the US and abroad until Gordon passed away March 4, 2008.

Donna loved her children dearly and spoke of them often. When Donna’s grandchildren came to visit from out of town, she would rock the babies to sleep. Donna worked at several retail stores and finished out her career at K-Mart from the day it opened until she retired at 65.

Wherever Donna lived so did flowers. She always planted annuals and perennials and each Spring it became an annual adventure for the search of the perfect flowers to plant around her addition. Every time she would say I’m not buying anymore but when she came back from being out and about Lori would see more flowers to plant and would just smile and help her plant them. Donna loved to watch Downton Abbey, (she called it Downtown Abbey) going to movies, reading, and watching the dogs play and snuggle with her. Her favorite soap opera was the Bold & Beautiful and she never missed it even planning appointments around it. She even got into sports with her son-in-law Charles and would ask him questions about what was going on to Lori’s surprise.

Left to cherish Donna’s memory are her children: Dean (Bev) Anchorage, AK, Robert Steven Des Moines, IA, Colleen Steven Chaska, MN, Lori Hopkins, (Charles), Waukee, IA; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and a great great grandchild; sisters, Wilma (John) Smith of Burt, Margaret (Duane) Gross of Des Moines and Claudia (Dave) Fritz of Montello, WI; and a brother, Clyde (Judy) Moore of Early. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Gordon.
