CHARLES CITY – A Charles City man wanted on a warrant for domestic abuse was nabbed when police responded to a report of a burglary.
Police say the incident took place on the evening of July 4, 2023. At 8:17 PM that night, officers were called to the 1000 block of Terrace Road for a report of a possible burglary. As a result of the investigation, police encountered a wanted man, 31-year-old David Sherwood of Charles City. Sherwood was wanted on a warrant connected to his crime of second-offense domestic abuse assault and violation of his probation. Police determined that Sherwood had committed criminal mischief and he was arrested on a charge of fifth-degree criminal mischief and the warrant.
Sherwood (pictured, above) was taken to jail, where he currently remains at this time, awaiting an August 18, 2023 hearing on revoking his probation. He also faces a non-jury trial on August 14 on the mischief charge.
