RINGGOLD COUNTY, IOWA – An Iowa teen died in a vehicle rollover, swerving to avoid deer this weekend on a rural road.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident occurred on the evening of November 25, 2022. At 7:01 PM in Ringgold county on rural road P33 south of Diagonal, 15-year-old Abby Overholser of Benton, Iowa was driving a 2009 Chevy Trailblazer south on P33 with two juvenile passengers. Overholser swerved to avoid a deer in the roadway, over-corrected and lost control of the vehicle. It entered the west ditch and rolled; the driver, whom the patrol claimed was not wearing a seatbelt, was partially ejected and pinned underneath.
As a result of the accident, Abby Overholser was killed.
The accident was investigated by the Iowa State Patrol.
