FAYETTE COUNTY – A crop duster helicopter crash landed in a Northern Iowa corn field.

On Friday, August 5, 2022 at 11:10 AM, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a crop duster helicopter that had clipped a power line and went down. When Deputies arrived, it was learned that the 2006 Robinson R44 that was being operated by Nicholas Jerell of Doral, Florida had clipped a power line that had spanned across a corn field near M Ave. and 130th Street, outside of Fayette. Jerell controlled the aircraft to a quick decent and landed it safely in the corn field.

No injuries were reported but the helicopter sustained disabling damage.

Arrangements were made to have the helicopter hoisted up and transported from the scene.
