  1. There’s only two ways to deal with a board that has a panel of folks like this. Either vote them out, but will take too much time and they will create new expensive problems in the meantime. Or take their money away. In this case the fundraising for the new facility. If you haven’t fulfilled your pledge yet, write them a note and tell them why. If you have already given, tell them you want your money back and tell them why. Sure the facility will be built anyway. But will look kind of funny empty.

    1. The voters on MC approved two huge taxes on property owners a few years ago. It keeps getting renewed. The District is flush with cash.

  2. Just go with the Mason City Red Tailed Hawks. It’s an animal, they won’t be offended. Colors can stay the same and the culture can stay the same. Birds of a feather flock together.

  3. Does anyone really believe we should call the students “Tromboners”? Would you like to go to a sports event or even be known and called a “BONER”? Get REAL!!

  4. The Mason city school board has literally gone nuts. They aren’t going to get away with this. The people of Mason city will vote these people out and a new board will come in and reinstate the name. The CANCEL CULTURE school board needs to go asap. SAVE THE MOHAWK NAME.

  5. I wouldn’t be suprised if there were some strings attached to large chunks of money raised for the equipment in the new addition. Retire the Mohawk name, get the money.

      1. Republicans money? Then here’s their chance to turn the tide on this thing. They should cancel their pledge or demand their money back if the name gets changed.

  6. Please let’s not have anything about the Music Man in the name. It would be better to leave it Mohawk than do that.

  7. Nice “reporting” here. You basically just copied and pasted from the agenda. Will you be following up with anyone from the district or school board?

    1. Seemed like the proper way to inform the public of what was ON THE AGENDA for the meeting, and that action could be taken. I’m not really into badgering the district on agenda items, thanks.

      1. Unfortunately, Honest and smart people see the uphill battle of challenging the dumb and corrupt, too daunting of a task to even try. So we get stuck with these self feeders.
