Swaledale man hurt in auto accident near Mason City

RURAL MASON CITY – A Swaledale man was hurt in an auto accident Wedensday afternoon.

The Cerro Gordo county sheriff’s office responded to the 12000 block of Partridge Avenue for a two vehicle accident with injuries on September 2, 2020 at about 4:47 PM. A 1996 Chevy Monte Carlo driven by 59-year-old Jeffery Sporra of Mason City was northbound on Highway 65. Sporra lost control of his vehicle and struck a guard rail which spun his vehicle around into the southbound traffic lane. Sporra’s vehicle struck a 2009 Toyota Matrix driven by 61-year-old Darwin Johnson of Swaledale.  Johnson had to be extracted from his vehicle and was taken to Mercy One North IA with minor injuries.  Sporra was not injured.

Sporra was issued citations for speeding and failure to maintain control.
