3 Creative Careers That Could Transform Your Life

Starting a new career can be a scary thought, but so is the thought of getting stuck in a dead-end career that you aren’t actually enjoying. If you are a creative person who is tired of jobs that don’t engage that creativity, here are three career paths that any creative person can pursue.

Acting

Acting is one of those jobs that lots of people assume they can do but, for some reason, never actually try. However, acting is not as easy as some people like to claim; it is something that you will have to work on in order to develop your skills. If you haven’t acted before, you should audition for some local productions. Look for theater and drama groups in your area online – you might be surprised by just how many there are.

Acting is also not a get-rich-quick scheme; it is something that you need to be prepared to do for a while before you start making a living from it. However, it is also something that you can easily do in your spare time while you are also working your main job.

Writing

Like with acting, there’s no shortage of people out there who assume that they can write – how many people do you know who “have a novel” in them? However, writing is also not the mysterious dark art that many other people think it is. Writing is a skill that takes time to develop, but if you’re one of those people who has been writing ever since they were old enough to hold a pen, then you may have done more of the legwork than you realize.

If you want to make a living writing fiction – good luck! It’s not impossible, but it is very difficult to make a living from writing fiction and nothing else. However, there are lots of other writing jobs that present a more realistic target. For one thing, there are always businesses, websites, and blogs that need content written for them. If you are a talented writer with good English skills, working as a content writer will enable you to turn words into money.

Designing

When most people hear the word “designer”, their mind instantly goes to the world of fashion. This is understandable, but the term designer can actually apply to a variety of roles in a number of different industries. For example, designers are needed for videogame studios, electronics manufacturers, and even tattoo parlors.

Designing is an excellent way of combining your creative talents with other professional interests you have. If you are passionate about gadgets and technology, you can combine your talent for creativity with practical knowledge about electronics and technology. To get an idea of just how accessible electronics design is today, check out the search engine Octopart.com for electronic parts. Note how cheap and widely available even the more specialized components are.

It’s never too late to change the path that your life is on. If change is what you need, then take control and find a job that makes you actually want to get out of bed in the morning, rather than rolling over and going back to sleep.
