MASON CITY – The NIACC women’s basketball team is ranked No. 3 in the NJCAA Division II poll released Wednesday.
NIACC (7-2 overall) was No. 10 in the preseason poll.
Johnson County CC is ranked No. 1, Highland, Kan. is ranked No. 2 and Kirkwood is ranked no. 13.
The No. 3 ranking is the highest since the Lady Trojans were ranked No. 2 in the three December polls in the 2017-18 season.
NIACC owns a victory over No. 4 Illinois Central (95-89 in overtime). The Lady Trojans have lost to No. 1 Johnson County (82-74) and No. 2 (NJCAA Division I) Trinity Valley (78-73).
NIACC returns to action Saturday in its ICCAC opener at Southwestern. Game time is slated for 1 p.m.
