MASON CITY – A Domino’s Pizza restaurant will be built on Mason City’s North End, a top local realtor informed NIT this weekend.
Brett Schoneman of Schoneman Realtors explained that the empty lot at 1204 North Federal (the northwest corner of 12th and Federal Avenue, where a gas station once stood) was recently purchased by Marty Gritz, who operates multiple Domino’s Pizza restaurants, including one in downtown Mason City and several others in the upper Midwest.
“His intentions are to break ground on his new restaurant soon,” Mr. Schoneman said. “The new concept of Domino’s are extremely attractive with a modern design to allow customers to see their pizza being made. Domino’s is proud of the ingredients that they put into their pizzas and this new restaurant will showcase that.”
Brett Schoneman of Schoneman Realtors was the Listing and selling agent of deal; he has brokered other major deals in recent weeks, including a Kwik Star gas station and convenience store to be built on the city’s south side.

Mr. Schoneman told NIT of the Domino’s deal, the corner lot “sold right away but it took a little time to get it closed. YesWay, the seller of the property, is a great company, but they are big company, so sometimes things take a little bit. I’m very happy for Marty and I think that nice new restaurant will really look great on that corner that has sat for so many years.”
The new Domino’s Pizza building will be about 2000 square feet and will be placed up in the northwest corner of the lot.
There’s been no announcement, but the downtown Domino’s location in the Lapiner Building is likely to close once the new store opens. NIT is told there could be more developments to announce in coming days and weeks.

Drove by Domino’s last year, and saw a dog sitting on their counter where you pick up your pizza. Never ate there and never will. Don;t want dog ass on my pizza box.
Dog butt tastes a lot like raccoon tail but a little saltier. Not bad, kind of a smooth flavor.
Thanks for clearing up the question of taste Dale. I was told dog butt tasted like chicken but raccoon is yummy, even better! Now I know where I am going for supper this evening.
doesn’t effect me. wife and I came back to town after a vacation and it was almost 9pm. I said lets get a pizza for supper. as we pulled into the old easters lot the lights went off at the pizza place. we left and drove up Delaware and I said dominos. went in and was greeted by grumpy employees ( mad casue we were there) and I ordered a pizza. I saw the girl go to the freezer and get a frozen crust and literary throw it on the counter and start making it. she was mad and just threw things. well it was finally done after 35 minutes and we took it home and YUK it was the worst tastin pizza we have ever had. can see why she was throwing things, to get the pizza ready for throwing, that’s what we did with it after one bite. that happened 6 yrs ago and haven’t been back since. I don’t care where they move to cause you wont see us there., Pizza hut is getting to be much better with their frozen crusts.
Next time try Little Caesars. They are super quick, super cheap, ready when you walk in the door. The pizza has been sitting in the warmer all day and it tastes like tomato sauce covering cardboard.
druggies are on here tonight Kwik Star is 27 blocks south idiot,
Another win for the North End. Other than mega commercial development to the west, no other neighborhood has seen such revitalization. Congratulations. Looking forward to the Kwik Star too!
did have central location before, now if you live on the southend of town, you better order today for delivery tomorrow
It’s not only about, YOU!
Calm down it’s Mason City, you can get pretty much anywhere in town in under 10 minutes. Moved about 15 blocks further north, not that big a deal
Hope the design engineers worked bullet proof glass into the plans
Hope they’re ready for the rif raf.
There are a few after dark. But they can be controlled. Burks does it, the Blue Heron does it, and Little Chicago does it.
