MASON CITY – A man formerly of Mason City now living in Britt, Iowa is serving jail time in Cerro Gordo County after being found guilty on April 3rd of assault on a peace officer.

According to a report, Jamie Alan Roggeman, 41, assaulted a Mason City Police Officer on October 21st, 2012 at the Cenex gas station at 504 1st Street SW after police were called due to an intoxicated person at the business.

Judge Annette Boehlje found Roggeman guilty of the assault charge and the public intoxication charge and sentence him to 7 days in jail and a $315.00 fine for the assault and 325 days of probation for the public intoxication charge. Due to being a habitual violator, Roggeman could have faced 2 years in prison and a $625.00 fine but Boehlje suspended those penalties.

Roggeman will be released from jail on April 28th.

Roggeman also fought police officers on April 26th, 2011 when he called police about what he believed to be a dead body in a river in East Park. The body turned out to be a basketball floating in the river. When authorities showed up and tried to arrest Roggeman for being drunk, he resisted arrest.

Roggeman has also escaped from the Beje Clark residential facility on more than one occasion.
