Mason City man accused of forgery

MASON CITY – On Wednesday, October 26th, Mason City police arrested Monte Bitker, age 27, of 1708 Taft Ave South, Mason City after receiving a report of a suspicious subject cashing checks.

After an investigation Bitker was charged with three counts of forgery a class d felony. Forgery is punishable by up to five years in prison per charge, and up to a $7500 fine.

Bitker is alleged to have passed forged checks at Tobacco Outlet 2480 4 St SW , Mason City, the Kum & Go at 1465 4 St SE, Mason City, and the Kum & Go at 637 12 St Ne, Mason City.

Monte Bitker is currently being held in the Cerro Gordo County jail in lieu of $5000 cash or surety bond pending further court proceedings.
