Dennis was born on June 24, 1954 in Hampton, Iowa to David and Berneta (Reicherts) Peterson. Dennis attended Dumont High School and was a graduate of the class of 1972. While he was still in high school, he worked on the farm and various other excavation jobs. On Dennis’ birthday in 1977, he married the love of his life Janice Lewis. The two of them would share their lives together farming, running their MP Backhoe business, and raising their family. That work ethic carried over from his youth into his adult life. Dennis never strayed from hard work, and that was seen in the attention he gave to the farm and business he ran, and many years with CE contracting. When it came to farming he loved to spend money on tractors, mainly Massey Harris, and he would frequent the Big Iron website ALWAYS looking for a bargain.
Dennis enjoyed spending time with his grandsons, showing them the roots of farming, hunting, and cruising the gravel roads. His grandsons would always come home full of Grandpa’s knowledge and secrets. He valued honesty and authenticity in the people around him. Dennis devoted much of his life to helping others, never hesitating to lend a hand. His circle of friends was wide and he formed deep connections with people throughout his life, leaving behind a community of friends who cherished him.
Left to mourn Dennis’ passing are his wife Janice, son Matt (Becky) Peterson, daughter Trisha (Alex) Boos, and his grandsons Avery, Kamdon, and Maddox Boos; siblings Dean (Mary) Peterson, Dan (Teresa) Peterson, Deb Miller, Dwight (Sherry) Peterson, Donna (Bob) Boots, and Dawn Peterson; Mother-In-law Caroline Lewis, In-laws Gary (Julie) Lewis, Sally (Rich) Brown, Curt (Monica) Lewis, Jeff (Rashelle) Lewis, Todd (Lisa) Lewis, Brad (Kathy) Lewis, and Jason (Leah) Lewis, along with many nieces and nephews.
Dennis is preceded in death by his parents David and Berneta, father-in-law John Lewis, and brother-in-law Dalen Miller.
