BELLEVUE, IOWA – This small Iowa town was the subject of a bomb threat over the weekend, and police were forced to shut down the downtown area to deal with the tense situation.
On July 27, 2025, at approximately 10:36 AM, the Bellevue Police Department was dispatched to the 100 block of South 2nd Street for a possible bomb threat. The downtown area was evacuated and shut down for further investigation into this threat. Many residents were concerned and looking for information as the incident unfolded, police said.
“Our thoughts are with everyone impacted, and we encourage all residents to remain calm and respectful as we await further details,” police explained.
In conclusion of this investigation, no suspicious devices were found, and the downtown area was reopened to the public. Authorities confirmed the area was safe, with no active threats. This investigation was ongoing, and so far, no one has been named as a suspect in the incident.
The Bellevue Police Department was assisted by, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson Emergency Management, Bellevue Fire Department, Bellevue Ambulance Service and Iowa State Fire Marshall’s Office.
