Authorities extricate armed, barricaded person from Charles City home

CHARLES CITY – A possibly tense situation was dealt with by authorities in Charles City when a person armed and barricaded themselves in a neighborhood home.

Charles City police say the incident took place on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. At 11:18 AM that morning, officers responded to the 1200 block of Gilbert Street to deal with a barricaded person in a residence who was armed with a weapon. Contact was made with the subject who eventually went peacefully. They were taken to the Floyd County Medical Center for evaluation.

Charles City police were assisted by Floyd county deputies, Nora Springs police and AMR Ambulance.
