Roger L. Curtis, 93 of Mason City, IA passed away June 13, 2024 at MercyOne Hospice. Roger was a longtime member of Epiphany Parish-Holy Family Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Epiphany Parish - Holy Family Catholic Church

Roger L. Curtis, 93 of Mason City, IA passed away June 13, 2024 at MercyOne Hospice surrounded by his loving family.

Roger was a longtime member of Epiphany Parish-Holy Family Church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Epiphany Parish – Holy Family Catholic Church, 722 North Adams Ave., Mason City, IA with Rev. Neil Manternach, Celebrant. Burial will be in Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City, where military honors will be presented by the Mason City Honor Guard.

The Rosary will be prayed beginning at 4:30 pm followed by visitation until 7:00 pm Monday, June 17, 2024, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St. NE, Mason City, IA.

If a memorial would like to be given, it can be made to the Roger L. Curtis Memorial Fund.

Roger was born on November 30, 1930, in Mason City, IA to Robert and Evelyn (LaGasse) Curtis. He graduated from Mason City High School in 1948 and following graduation, joined the Marines, serving from 1948 to 1952. On November 15, 1952, he married the love of his life, Marjorie Currier and of this union, five children were born.

In 1952 he began working for the Northwestern States Portland Cement Co., retiring as a purchasing agent in 1978. He then went into partnership with Lee Butler in Butler and Curtis Oil, Inc, retiring in 1993. Roger and Marjorie spent the next 18 years wintering in Apache Junction, AZ.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Jean Curtis, Cudjoe Key, FL, Teresa (Mark) Buffington, Mason City; sons, Tom (Becky) Curtis, Mason City, Robert (Marcia) Curtis, Mason City, and Mark (June) Curtis, Rochester, MN; grandchildren, Chad (Katie) Buffington, Osage, Jason (Megan) Buffington, Mason City, Matt (Lauren) Buffington, Bondurant, Jason (Laura) Martin, Klamath Falls, OR, Stacy (Peter) Neudorf, Lubbock, TX, April Curtis, Mason City, Debra (Marlin) Phoenix, Blackwood, NJ, Robert James Curtis, Bourne, TX, Crystal (John) Richards, Chicago, IL, Adrianne (Eric Nath) Curtis, Rochester, MN, and Payton Curtis, Rochester, MN; and 24 great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his brother, David (Mary) Curtis, Clear Lake and brother-in-law, Owen (Brenda) Currier, Mason City; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie in 2013; his parents, Robert and Evelyn Curtis; father and mother-in-law, Fred and Ida Currier; brother, Richard Curtis; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Kathleen Lockwood, John and Mary Ellen Hanson, Don and Florence Kudej and Father Thomas Currier.

Roger’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude and thank you to Touch by an Angel – Angela Hayes and the care given by Lisa, Elva, Karla, and Hilary for assisting with his home care. Without them, we could not have honored Dad’s wish to live in his home. We would also like to extend our gratitude to his brother, David, and nephew, Scott for checking in on him during his stay at MercyOne and at his home, and to the wonderful care given by MercyOne North Iowa Hospital and the Hospice Unit.
