Joyce Hoff, daughter of George Sears and Ardith (Knoll) Sears-Holt was born on August 11, 1939, on a farm near Lone Rock, IA. On June 11, 2024, our Lord chose to take her home.

In her youth, Joyce was active in 4-H, being president and treasurer of the LeRoy, MN Wide Awake 4-H Club. She showed the champion Ayrshire yearling at the Austin, MN fair and went on to have the grand champion Ayrshire at the Minnesota State Fair. She was the runner up for Princess Kay of the Milky Way at the Minnesota State Fair.

Joyce graduated from Grand Meadow High School in Grand Meadow, MN. She went on to work at the Kahler Grand Hotel in Rochester, MN. Her path in life took her to Mason City, IA when she married and later divorced her first husband. The marriage was blessed with two sons, David and Douglas.

Joyce’s path continued and took her to the Hanford Hotel where she worked in the Plantation Room. From there she worked for Bankers Life Insurance Company and State Brand Creamery. Her path finally led her to Jacob and Deckers where she met and later married Marion “Dick” Hoff, the love of her life, her rock. Shortly after, they welcomed their daughter Shawn into the family.

Joyce was a very talented woman with high ethics. She loved to sew, making clothes, drapes, curtains and stuffed animals. She loved to cook and bake, all from scratch. Friends and family lined up for her lasagna. During the holidays she treated friends and family with cookies and candy trays from the 50 dozen or more cookies and the many sweet candies she’d make.

Joyce, from the urging of her husband, Dick, became a skillful archer, winning several trophies. They found a love for camping and finally bought a camper after waking up one too many times in a wet tent. They traveled around the midwest looking for great fishing spots.

In her later years she enjoyed the company of her friends and neighbors who often stopped to chat and play a game of cards.

Joyce was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dick Hoff; parents George Sears and Ardith (Knoll) Sears-Holt; brother Jack Sears and his wife Alice and sister Mildred Simes

Those left to cherish Joyce’s memory are her children Dave Boeset, Doug (Lonna) Boeset and Shawn Hoff; brother Mervin Sears and his wife Mary; granddaughters; great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
