In 1985, he was united in marriage to Jacque Wibben at St. Cecelia Catholic Church. They were blessed with two children. Following his marriage, Eric relocated to Utah, where he found purpose and joy working at a local garden center. His green thumb and passion for landscaping and dedicating himself to his work landed him a leadership role within the company. Eric and Jacque later divorced. Following his time in Utah, Eric returned to his roots in Iowa, where he continued to pursue his love for landscaping at Earl Mae. Due to his adaptability and work ethic, Eric later transitioned to a career at Hormel Foods, where he dedicated over 20 years of his life to hard work and service.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Eric will be remembered for his love of the outdoors and his passion for activities such as landscaping, mowing, and golfing. His willingness to lend a helping hand, whether it was assisting friends like Matt Buscher with mowing or sharing a round of golf with loved ones. Eric was an avid sports fan, cheering passionately for the Green Bay Packers, Iowa Hawkeyes, and the Chicago Cubs. Eric loved traveling to Utah to visit his children, enjoying the cross-country drive and the opportunity to spend quality time with his loved ones. Eric’s greatest pride was his children, whom he loved dearly and always wished the best for. He took so much joy in their accomplishments and the wonderful adults they had become. In Algona, Eric was known for his big red truck, a symbol of his larger-than-life personality. Eric’s made sure that even if you couldn’t see him you could hear him. He will be remembered for his love of life and people. His infectious laugh had the power to brighten any room.
