RUNNELS – Police raced to this rural Iowa home after a 911 call and found a man shot dead.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a homicide that occurred in Runnells. Shortly after 1 AM on June 14, 2024, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a shooting at 4532 SE 116th Street, Runnells.
Deputies arrived on the scene and made entry into the residence. Inside the residence, deputies located one adult male victim, deceased. Deputies then secured the scene and investigators were called to the scene. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) was also requested to assist with the investigation.
The investigation into this incident continues as investigators gather evidence and interview witnesses including a person of interest The Polk County Sheriff’s Office does not believe there is any threat to the public.
