DES MOINES – Authorities went to the beach area at this Des Moines area lake to find a deceased man in the water.
Des Moines Police Department detectives are conducting a death investigation following the discovery of a deceased person at Easter Lake Park.
On June 13, 2024, at approximately 2:08 PM, Polk County Conservation contacted the Des Moines Police Department Communications Center and shared reports of a body in the water near the beach area.
Des Moines Police Department patrol officers responded and with the assistance of the Des Moines Fire Department, a deceased adult male was recovered from the water.
The preliminary inves;ga;on found no obvious indicators of criminal action contribu;ng to the death. Cause and manner of death will be shared following autopsy.
The Des Moines Police Department and Des Moines Fire Department were assisted at the scene by the Polk County Conservation Park Rangers, and the Polk County Medical Examiners Office.
Des Moines Police Department detectives continued this investigation. They soon reported that the person found deceased has been identified as 29-year-old Abwe Etabo (pictured at top.)
