Cops and DHS raid Northern Iowa house, find gun, silencer, baggies

EARLY, IOWA - Police got a search warrant when they noticed something out of the ordinary at this Northern Iowa house as they assisted DHS with an investigation.

EARLY, IOWA – Police got a search warrant when they noticed something out of the ordinary at this Northern Iowa house as they assisted DHS with an investigation.

Thursday May 30, 2024, the Sac County Sheriffs Office were assisting the Iowa Department of Human Services at 403 Main Street, Early, Iowa, when investigators saw drug paraphernalia in plain sight and a pressure cooker that appeared to have tubing attached to it. These items were seen in the basement, Sheriff’s officials applied for a search warrant, and contacted the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement and the State Fire Marshalls office for assistance.

Before searching the home, the State Fire Marsahlls office determined that the pressure cooker was not an explosive device and the substance in the cooker was not a hazardous substance, or drug related paraphernalia.

During the search, deputies seized numerous pieces of drug paraphernalia, baggies with residue, ammunition and a handgun with a homemade silencer.

No arrests have been made. The investigation continues.
