BANCROFT, IOWA – A Northern Iowa woman accused of stealing over $5,000 from a booster club for kids and then quit her job as Bancroft library director won’t receive jobless benefits.

Court records show 41-year-old Erin Fraker of Bancroft is facing a felony charge of second-degree theft out of Kossuth county for reportedly stealing $5,820 from the North Union Sports Booster Club via the baseball concession stand in 2023. She remains free on bond and has entered a not-guilty plea in the case, awaiting pre-trial conference on May 14.

In a further development, state records show Fraker was employed as library director at the Bancroft library from June 1, 2022 till December 28, 2023 – the day after the felony charge was filed. That day, Fraker emailed the library board about her criminal charges, saying, “I am offering up my resignation if you need to accept it. The last thing I want is for the library to take a hit as it’s in such good standing.”

On January 4, 2024, Fraker withdrew her resignation, sending an email to the board, “I am choosing to withdraw the offer to resign. As this incident has no bearing on by job performance, I cannot allow this to control my life or identity. I’m willing to stand up and fight to repair what I have done and regain trust and integrity for myself and my family.”

On January 8, 2024, however, the board accepted Fraker’s resignation.

Due to the fact Fraker quit, her request for unemployment benefits was denied by a judge, records indicate.
