
CEDAR FALLS – A tragic accident took place Wednesday afternoon in Cedar Falls when an out-of-control driver at a local golf course veered onto a bike path and struck a young woman on a bicycle.
On March 13, 2024, at 3:41 p.m., the Black Hawk County Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting a bicyclist had been hit by a pick-up truck. The accident happened at the entrance to Pheasant Ridge Golf Course, 3205 W. 12th Street. It was reported that the bike was eastbound on the bike trail and the pick-up was eastbound on 12th Street. A vehicle in front of the pick-up was making a left-hand turn into the golf course, and the driver of the pick-up swerved to avoid a rear-end collision. The pick-up exited the roadway and drove onto the bike path. The driver of the pick-up then struck the bicyclist, as well as several signs and a tree.
The bicyclist, later identified as 22-year-old Krisha Keeran, was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for injuries. The driver of the pick-up was not injured. The investigation into this accident is ongoing.
Cedar Falls Police were assisted by Cedar Falls Fire Rescue, Iowa State Patrol, Mercy One Paramedics, Black Hawk County Dispatch, and Rassmussen Towing.
