Man wanted for attempted murder out of Alabama races from car accident, but Waterloo tactical team tracks him down

WATERLOO – A man wanted for attempted murder out of Alabama crashed his car in Waterloo, raced from the scene on foot, and was later captured in a house when a tactical team invaded.

On August 22, 2023, officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Independence Avenue and Vinton Street. The driver of one vehicle fled on foot, before officers arrived. Through the investigation, patrol officers were able to identify the driver as 30-year-old Larry Poole of Alabama (pictured, above).

Poole had an arrest warrant reference an attempted murder charge out of Gadsden, Alabama.

On August 24, 2023, Waterloo Police Violent Crime Apprehension Detectives assigned to the U.S. Marshals Northern Iowa Fugitive Task Force obtained a search warrant for 737 Webster Street, Waterloo Iowa.

Waterloo Police Tactical Team served the warrant at 737 Webster Street, locating Poole inside the residence.

Poole was placed under arrest and booked into the Black Hawk County Jail on local warrants for leaving the scene accident, failure to obey stop sign, and the arrest warrant out of Alabama.
