David Clare Kropf, son of Duane and Carol (Skattebo) Kropf, was born on July 5, 1953 in Ames, Iowa. He passed away at his home in Estherville on April 10, 2023 at the age of 69 years.

After moving around in his younger years with his family, he graduated from Elk Horn High School. Following high school he moved to Estherville and worked at Morrell’s Packing Plant. He was married to Maria Rodriguez and the couple had three children. This marriage was later dissolved. After the meat packing plant closed Dave went to work at various jobs including Sperry UniVac, a truck driver for Rohlin’s Construction, and Art’s Way Manufacturing. Dave returned to college and took classes at ILCC and Jackson Vocational College to earn his degree in electronics. He was employed at TSGC Inc for a number of years.

Dave met the love of his life, Dixie Adelmund, they were united in marriage on September 12, 1998, and made their home in Estherville. Dave began work at AGCO in 2001, he retired after 21 years of employment with them in February of 2022.

Dave enjoyed a ride on the motorcycle, especially with his favorite passenger, Dixie on the back. He loved to spend time with his family, especially making them laugh. Dave never met a stranger, could have a conversation with anyone, and had perfected the ‘Midwestern good-bye’. There was always a smile on Dave’s face and he brought so many smiles to those around him. He had a style quite his own. Dave had a very green thumb, growing many plants in his yard and home. He especially like cacti, aloe vera, and hibiscus plants.

Dave is survived by his wife Dixie of Estherville, his sons Jack (Danice) Kropf of Estherville, Joseph (Naomi) Kropf of Estherville, and Joshua Kropf of Bigelow, MN; and his step-sons A.J. (Brittney) Edwards and Zach Edwards all of Estherville. He is survived by his grandchildren Maisey, Mikayla, Neil, Aliya, Izaiah, Joclyn, Izabella, Rhianna, Ronin, and Asher, and his great-grandson Matthew. Also survived by his siblings Marsha (Bill) Kragelund, Rod Kropf, Debra (Wayne) Tallcott, Randall Kropf, and Diane (Oliver) McFadden, many nieces and nephews, and his aunt Lenora “Punky” Kropf.

Dave is preceded in death by his parents.
