MASON CITY – At 8:52 AM Saturday morning, the Mason City Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to 24th Street and S. Adams for an accident where airbags had been deployed.

At the scene, witnesses said, “Yes, we saw what happened. The van was northbound and had done a 180 into a yard. The black truck was westbound.”

The owner of the property where the van had came to rest said, “I was resting after working all night and heard the crash. I thought, there’s another accident at the corner. I looked out, and the van was in my yard. One of the younger girls was hurt. Her dad said that it was her leg.” She was taken by ambulance to Mercy Medical Hospital.

The owners of the black truck said, “We have a little neck and back pain, probably some pain due to the seat-belts. The truck is only four weeks old, but it could have been worse.”

A neighbor came out saying, “It sounded like a bomb went off.”

Major damage was done to both vehicles.
