MASON CITY – The Mason City Police Department is cautioning citizens to be aware that numerous reports of stolen catalytic converters, typically from General Motors cars, have occurred throughout Mason City.  Incidents are taking place at night or early morning hours.  If you hear suspicious noises near your vehicle, you are encouraged to call the MCPD at 641-421-3636.

According to the MCPD, the theft of catalytic converters has become a nationwide trend.  The converters are removed and sold as scrap.  Several thefts have occurred while the victims’ vehicles were parked in large parking lots.

Anyone with information on these thefts should call the MCPD at 641-421-3636.

  1. thats the reason i cut the dam things off my vehicles the day i buy em… besides, you gain horsepower with them dam things anyways… (they plug up).. besides most people, including the dope addicts that steal them dont realize is there is platinum inside of a catylatic converter, but it would take a semi load to extract enough to make a platinum necklace out of!!… see a theif under your car, shoot the f*cker on sight!

    1. Yeah, shoot em on sight. Ooooops, I dropped a $20 bill and the wind blew it under your vehicle. Now I am dead, and you gotta explain to a Jury why you took the life of an unarmed innocent man.

Nice going</strong?, you will get 3 squares a day and a cot, and a lifetime to enjoy your smug attitude.

And when you pass from the living, St. Peter will meet you at the gate, look upon you and ask “who made you judge on what man shall live, what man shall die?”.

      Yep, shoot him on sight!
