Rockwell man arrested in gas theft

On December 13th at 12:39 am, a Mason City police officer spotted a suspicious vehicle parked behind NAPA Auto Parts in the 3300 block of 4th Street SW. In the last few months there have been several reports from businesses on the city’s west site of fuel being stolen from fleet vehicles overnight.

The officer saw that the occupant of the suspicious vehicle was in the process of siphoning gas from one of the the vans parked behind the business.

Clinton Janssen, 30, of Rockwell, Iowa was arrested and charged with tampering with a motor vehicle and theft in the 5th degree. Both charges are simple misdemeanors. Janssen was taken to jail and held for bond.
