The Forthman family – Linda, Charles, Michael and Jennifer (Gunderson), owners and operators of The Floor to Ceiling store, surprised the Hoover staff by announcing that they are going to totally renovate the staff lounge at Hoover Elementary.
The family has a vested interest in Hoover in having two generations of Forthmans that have gone through their elementary years there. Both Michael and Jennifer went through Hoover, and Jennifer’s daughter is currently a student there. The family wants to honor the hard work, effort and dedication of the teachers and staff members by offering a gift that would directly impact them- therefore the renovation of the staff lounge! They will be removing the old, outdated cabinets, countertops and sink and installing brand new materials. A painting crew of volunteers from Hoover teachers and staff will give the walls a fresh coat of paint. Then the new materials will be installed.
Hoover Has Heart has been the building theme this year. Hoover’s Heart is bursting with excitement as this project unfolds. All work will be completed this summer so all staff members will have a bright, new staff lounge to enjoy when they return to school.
Barbara Wells, Hoover Principal said, “I am amazed by the magnitude of this gift! It will be wonderful to return to school next year and have a bright, new, fresh staff lounge to come into for lunch, coffee, conversation, or just to spend a few relaxing minutes!”
Superintendent, Anita Micich said, “The connections and relationships that are formed with children and families in our schools are so very important. In this case, these relationships have come back to the Hoover community in a wonderful and unexpected manner. The Mason City Community School District appreciates the support of the Forthman family with this very generous gift to Hoover and to our district.”|
