It has pleased Almighty God to call to Himself in heaven the soul of Doreen Kay Miller, who passed away early Wednesday morning, March 25, 2026 at the Westview Care Center in Britt. She was 67 years old.
Doreen Kay Miller was born on December 4, 1958 in Algona to Victor and JoAnn (Balgeman) Meyer. She spent the first 13 years of her life on a farm near Ottosen with her parents and siblings. In 1971, she and her family moved to Humboldt. She received her education through the Humboldt schools in the special education program.
Several years after high school, she married and lived in the Lu Verne area. This marriage ended in divorce. Doreen then moved back to Humboldt. While in Humboldt, she was united in marriage to Russ Miller on July 28, 2002 at Zion Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Humboldt where they were happily married for 15 years. After her husband passed away, Doreen continued to live at her apartment in Humboldt.
In 2020, Doreen lived at the North Care Center in Humboldt. After that care center closed, she moved to Westview Care Center in Britt. The staff at both centers stated that they appreciated her bright smile and kindness that she brought to all.
Doreen is survived by siblings Jo Ellen (Doug) Brightman of Fort Dodge, Dana (Dana Renae) Meyer of Omaha, Nebraska and Sharon Meyer of Fort Dodge. She is also remembered by 2 nephews and 4 nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Russ Miller and brothers Brian, Kevin and Mark.
