Lola Boss, 92, of Charles City passed away Sunday, January 11, 2026, at her home with her loving family by her side.

A funeral Mass for Lola Boss will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 16, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City with Reverend Tom Heathershaw officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Alta Vista.

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Hauser Weishaar Funeral Home with a Rosary being prayed at 4:30 p.m. and a Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Friday.

Lola Jean (Kolbet) Boss, daughter of John and Caroline (Glaser) Kolbet, was born on May 11, 1933, on a farm south of Alta Vista, Iowa. Lola graduated from St. William’s Catholic School in 1951.

On December 29, 1954, she was united in marriage to William (Bill) Boss at St. Bernard’s Catholic church in Alta Vista. The couple made their home in the Alta Vista area where they farmed for 11 years. In 1970 they moved to Camanche, Iowa. Lola worked at Nielson Coupon Clearing House for 12 years after raising their family. After retiring they returned to Charles City in 1997 to be near family. Bill died November 27, 2017, after nearly 63 years of marriage.

They were members of Immaculate Conception Church. They traveled to all 50 states and enjoyed visiting relatives. Lola enjoyed reading, puzzle books, playing cards and being on her computer. Lola loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Living family members include children John (Sandy) Boss of Waterloo, Iowa, Jeffrey (Carrol) Boss of Thornton, Colorado, Jill (Patrick) Boss-Pieres of Camanche, Iowa, Janelle (Randy) Shores of Covington, Georgia and Jason (Amy) Boss of Meridian, Idaho; nine grandchildren: Josiane (Josh) Mongillo, Ryan (Dolly) Boss, Nathan (Michelle) Boss, Matthew (Emily) Boss, Sarah Boss, Randy Shores Jr., Jordan (Audie) Newsome, Chelsea Shores and Cassie (Fran) Boss; ten great grandchildren: Alexis, Dominic, Sophie, Kenna, Paisley, Eliza, Remi, Palmer, Parker and Iris; sisters-in-law Florence Boss of Nashua and Pat Boss of Bondurant, Wyoming; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Bill; son: Joseph; siblings: Luella (Cliff) Phippen, Leonard (Pauline) Kolbet, Luverne (Virginia) Kolbet, Leo (Millie) Kolbet, Louis (Donna) Kolbet, Linus and Lois (Jack) McAvoy; and in-laws: Edna (Gale) Mast, Nellie Boss, Henry (Ruth) Boss, Paul (Deloris) Boss, Mary (Tom) Bevan, Bob Boss, Florence (Gene) Krieger, Don Boss, Eva Boss and Dale Boss.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be sent to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Croix Hospice, or a charity of your choice.
