MASON CITY – Two Northern Iowa businesses were ready to sell booze to a minor, allegedly, and the Cerro Gordo county sheriff’s office made it known that tickets were written.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Iowa Department of Revenue (IDR), Alcohol & Tax Compliance Division, conducted alcohol compliance checks on retail liquor establishments in Cerro Gordo County.

As a result of the compliance checks, employees from two establishments were cited for selling alcohol to underage persons:

– Pleasant Valley Golf Club in Thornton, Iowa

– Linn Grove Country Club in Rockwell, Iowa

The scheduled fine for this violation is $645.00 plus court costs.

By partnering with the IDR, we hope to educate liquor licensed employees and maintain a compliant retail environment in our community. The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office is committed to keeping alcohol products out of the hands of underage persons in Iowa.
