A prominent businessman told NIT yesterday that he believes Mason City will be under 25,000 in population by 2018. Mason City population was about 28,000 in the 2010 census but has lost about 300 in the latest population estimates, which show Mason City 27,704.

I’ve professed a lot of my philosophy over the years, now it’s time for a plan of action 1. All drug possession charges be reduced to simple misdemeanors, equating a fine, with no jail time.2. Government/police/military positions be available to any citizen who can perform the duties physically and mentally:Prior convictions for drugs or past mental health assessments not automatic bars to enlistment/hiring.

WalMart has decided that they can pay their workers more money. In a decision today, they are raising their workers to $10 an hour citing the improvement in the economy and the low unemployment rate. Another couple of dollars would bring those workers close to the poverty level but I guess this is a start.
Just a comment about the sexting at MC high school, some people are pissed that the police took and looked at the phones of students, Parents are you really that stupid to say the police should not be allowed to look at these, just remember what you are saying about the police when your daughter has just been raped, beat up or by chance your dumb ass mouthed off to a neighbor and your getting your ass kicked, I bet you call the police to report that you just got assaulted. With the interstates and the Mason City Airport so close, the location to service the country makes good economical sense. Clear Lake is almost in the center of the country.
Any incentives given were just a perk.

Whats the story on the questions NIT posed to the school district re: Madison School? This is at least the 2nd time I’m aware of that they’ve ignored NIT’s questions.
