I went to Menards today, and as I walked up to the building I saw our wonderful dog catcher’s vehicle setting in front of the building by the exit door. As I walked by, I noticed that no one was inside, but the motor was running. When I went in I looked around to see if I could find her. She was in the carpet section, must have been checking out some carpet for the dog kennel. I have to say that in all the years that I have been going to Menards, I have never seen a stray dog around there.
@LVS I forgot to mention, I’m glad we agree on something. @Maybe I also grew up on a farm and remember the drudgery such as cleaning out the hog house in the spring. I think I was 8 years old the first time. My dad handed a shovel and fork to my brother and me and said have at. Stacking hay in the barn on 90 degree days in July was allot of fun. So I have some perspective. Today’s big farm operations are no different than any other industrial organization and we should treat them as such.
What do you call a bunch of farmers in a basement? A whine cellar. Do you know how a farmer doubles his income? He puts up a second mailbox. And then an oldy
but goody. Why don’t farmers wear tennis shoes? Because the seed companies don’t give them away.
The description of the farmer being the sturdy yeoman of the earth, steward of the soil just does not apply today, if it ever did. I don’t know how they can keep a straight face when they say it. I also don’t know why the public buys into it. They wear out our roads and bridges burning their tax exempt fuel, foul our waters and pollute the air. Subsidized crop insurance is a bigger rip off than direct payments. They sold us another bill of goods. Don’t even get me started on my ethanol rant.
In Iowa a little over 13% of the people are getting food stamps. However, that 13% is costing the rest of us over 50 million dollars p/year. Hell of a lot cheaper to give them jobs and let them pay their own way and also pay taxes. Just saying.

I’m going to make an observation. What is it with so many men growing beards? Is it because of the popularity of Duck Dynasty? Some men look quite nice with a beard, if it’s kept trimmed nicely. But some look pretty bad. Am I the only one noticing this trend?
@Maybe, @LVS, and @Buzz, we all need to get together and just agree to ignore Phili. If we keep responding to his comments on here, we are giving him exactly what he wants, attention. If we don’t react to him , maybe he will eventually go away. It’s probably unlikely, but there’s always hope. Or he will create a fake person to argue with, then his bi-polar personalities can argue between themselves. He’s not worth our time.

Looks like Iowa State, UNI and Iowa will be selected Sunday to play in the NCAA Tournament. Any predictions on what seed each will be given? What SHOULD they be seeded?
Is there anyone else out there who thinks there is just something WRONG with Noel Miller, the mother of Evelyn? I don’t understand her lack of emotion and her reactions. Does anyone else think she may have known all along what her boyfriend was doing to her child?
