The video of what? No where in hour video is anyone stopping and trying to carjacking your car. What it appeared to be is you saw the police pulling into a parking lot and you following them, and then started recoding. Recording a man getting hand cuffed for who knows what. It happened on Saturday at noon. At least 3 witnesses gave statements. It might take the county attorney some time to read thru and figure it out. It wasn’t just disorderly conduct. He jumped in front of the car, waving me down then tried to open up the drivers door while telling me he was going to “F me up”. I drove away then watched in my rear view mirror him walking down middle highway chasing cars off the road. Including a semi. I called 911 and turned around to take video. I thought it might end up a shooting. He may have been on “khat”

Not just the sheriff’s department, but the police department also. Here’s a good one for you. There is a suspected drug dealer in my neighborhood. They have been arrested for drugs. The police were at their house a couple weeks ago because someone broke the window out of their vehicle. This vehicle has been driven since May with no license plates, and no dealer plates or a transfer placard. I mentioned it to the officer and he didn’t even give them a citation for no plates. Then another officer showed up, and the two officers and the owner of the vehicle were all outside chatting it up like they were all best buds. How can everyone in the neighborhood know what’s going on in that house, but the police dont? And there is still no plates on the vehicle. Ridiculous!
@anonymous-tow of my neighbors (renters) have been driving with expired plates for over three months. It really make one wonder why the rest of us should buy plates every year.
My son has gotten two tickets for no front license plate. Is the law to have a front license plate and I am not defending him, he deserve the tickets , but how can these people drive around with no license plates and not get tickets? I have seen three or four different cars driving around Mason City 1 no license plates. Makes a guy wonder.
I would call them in to the PD LVS. I have neighbors in a HUD house, (no driveway,) that park in the grass in the front yard so they only have to take two steps to get into their house and I call it in all the time. (Parking on the first level without a driveway is a violation of city code, but you see it all over town.)

Anybody that pays to advertise in the shopper, should question the globes delivery procedure. At 1:40 this afternoon I saw a guy driving a tan suburban east, down east state street, throwing shoppers to the north side of the street from his vehicle. Most of them landed in the parking and street. I’d bet that tomorrow, most of them will still be where they landed. I’d say, that’s littering at it’s best.
How do they determine who gets a shopper? Years ago I would get one every week now it’s hit or miss.
I have never paid for a shopper yet I receive one every week. it always ends upon my sidewalk aways from my house.
I’m thinking the people that are unlucky enough to get the shopper thrown toward their house, don’t subscribe to the Globe. I quit the rag 2 months ago, and got my first shopper delivered to my driveway last Tuesday.
I have never subscribed to the globe yet i have been receiving the shopper for over 5 years.
I believe the way the shopper was set up was that any house who did NOT get the GLOB (Also did not get the ads) would have the shopper delivered to them free of charge. I think the problem is they don’t pay very much so the delivery people are not real dedicated.
Used to deliver the shopper for the Globe, I was given addresses for a particular route. They didnt even verify if the house was still there! Out of 180 addresses I turned in 35 that were either non existant or had been demolished years before. was told they just got a list from the post office of valid addresses and dint check.
The pay for the shopper if i remember was 2 cents or so and you basically had to take them if you delivered a route. they never checked to see if you delivered either. Thats why alot used to end up at the waste management recycling center still bundled from the globe or dumped behind a business in a dumpster.
There are a lot of things that are not being released in the past 2 weeks. The sting on 8th st se, the body found down in the park and now the body found out in the nature center. What the f**k is going on with our PD? I’m sick of all this and really sick of the county attorney making deals with the court appointed lawyers we are paying for the shit bags that keep getting into trouble. Slap them on the wrist and let them offend some more. What a f**len joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The two bodies found in parks were suicides. What more should they say? It’s hard enough for those men’s families. Most people are sick and tired of the deals the attorneys make. I can see it if the perps are snitching or cooperating to get the goods on a bigger fish, but burglars, domestic abusers, and others? Nope. I couldn’t decide what I wanted to be for Halloween this week. So tonight before I went out, I crapped my pants, quit my job, bought a 12 pack of cheap beer, pissed on my mother’s toilet seat, tore my car apart, posted on the internet how I was going to change the world, and went to the coffee shop. Several times I tried to convince the cyber world on how intelligent I was, cause problems with some people, and yelled at a couple of bikers while getting video footage with my OBAMA phone. Trying to figure out what I wanted to be for Halloween just drove me nuts. Think I should just collect SSI and let you all fork the bill. Happy Halloween you all!

So a week to go until the Clear Lake City Council voting begins. Who do you think’s going to take it? Jim Boehnke or Dana Brant?
Now that Peter Lagios is out of the race, I’d say Jim Boehnke is sure to win easily. Rumor has it that Lagios has been campaigning heavily (albeit secretly) for Boehnke. My sources also tell me, because of Lagios’s endorsement, campaigning and his huge cash contribution, Jim will win his spot on the Clear Lake council.
It pays to have connections and they don’t come any stronger than the Lagios seal of approval.
Well because of redistricting, I believe Dana Brant has been moved over to the Ward Jim Boehnke was already seated in, and I’m thinking Boehnke isn’t entirely happy with Dana’s decision to run…even though outwardly he appears indifferent to the process.
As far as Lagios goes, he doesn’t live in that ward…he lives in Tony Nelson’s 2nd Ward, and that is coming due in 2 years. If Lagios manages to build his business successfully now that the street signs have been placed and things presumably will get more quieter, he MAY take a shot at Tony’s seat. But that is a couple years off yet.

These people have neighbors, and any of us could be living next door to these people. And it shows just how bad Mason City has gotten. I just want to report and caution people that I received a fraudulent call from someone with a heavy accent claiming that I’d won in a “second chance drawing” for Publisher’s Clearing House. They said they had someone on the way to deliver my prize. I asked them several questions and they said that if I wanted to confirm it was legitimate to call back their headquarters. He gave me the “headquarters” number and a confirmation number. I thanked him for the information and said I would get the phone number off of the Publisher’s Clearing House website. I did call them and spoke to them giving them the number from which the call generated. It had an 876 prefix which is from Jamaica. She told me that Publisher’s Clearing House would never call and gave a variety of options of how one would be contacted as a winner. She asked if I’d called back the number they gave me and asked for money. I shared I hadn’t. For future reference she gave me their website information and a Fraud Hotline. I’m sharing this here to help others avoid getting scammed.

And on another note, the city just had, what looked like, 4 perfectly good trees, in front of the Carnegie building cut down. Then replaced with 4 other trees. I’m not a tree expert, but the trees that were cut down looked good to me. I’m thinking it was Blackmore that was doing the work. I guess the city has an abundance of free trees, and wants to get them planted at any cost.
Didn’t repaint them till July, and the only put down half as many as last year.
How much money is the City of Mason City spending to send these mailers out to everyone asking them to buy sewer repair insurance from a private company? This is unreal, the city is not selling the insurance, it is a private company. This is at least the 4th mailer I have received. What is this costing us for the mailers? And who is getting paid to push this company on our city?

Here’s what I don’t understand, my husband and I rent our home. The water bill is delivered in my name, but the letters for the sewer insurance are delivered to my husband. Shouldn’t these letters be sent to the actual owner of our house? And yes, we have gotten four letters also.
