MASON CITY – Extreme cold has claimed another casualty Tuesday, as the Mason City Walgreen’s store closed abruptly today due to a burst water pipe.
According to Walgreen’s corporate customer service, the store had to close Tuesday at about 3:00 PM when a water pipe burst somewhere near the front of the store.
The front entrance was blocked off and no customers were then allowed into the store. The digital sign and a hand-written sign on the main entrance said the store was closed temporarily.
There was no word on when the store would re-open, but there appeared to be repair personnel working inside the store Tuesday evening.
The pharmacy drive-through remained open Tuesday until 8:00 PM.
