ok, so i’am a good person Thank you however loud tailpipes don’t bother me, I see it as part of culture. living in
clear lake is just that way, we have loud boats too, we have loud concerts, loud fireworks, this is a resort town, I’am sure okibogi and spirit lake have a lot of noise also. I think you only made it worse for yourself, the biking community knows you well and they are not going to let up. If you just back-off and not push the issue it might not be as big of a problem. I have gone to recent council meetings because of the new business coming, and those two meetings were packed with supporters, all kinds of people from all walks, wanting the council to vote for this. but yet you are frustrated by this. It looked to me like you were the only one in opposistion to this. I know you will respond with I have my rights, true you do. I talked with a police officer after the meeting and he told me that to enforce loudtail pipes is very difficult to do because the officer has to catch them, themselves. and the fine is 10.00 hiring more officers cost the city more money. anyway good luck

wow !now you quote bible versus, you don’t get to judge people if they will end up on the right side of God or the left. God Does. Here is one for you. If you are without sin, then cast the first stone. Then you say you are starting this big revolt, Where are the people who agree with you. Why don’t we see them, or hear from them ? Where are your rallies or conventions ? where do you hold them ? You act as if this some huge movement but we never see anything except your blowhard steam here on this site. I think the reason nothing else happens is: Because it is a figment of your imagination! On this Ash Wednesday I hope all is well with you

It’s funny you start out insulting me then wish me well. I can tell you are basically a good person. My political movement is just starting, and it’s not a revolt, but an alternative. Besides I was just hired by a local company and will be paying into the system like everyone else for awhile. If it weren’t for those damn loud tailpipes I’d be much more optimistic of a guy. If you brought that one issue under control it would go a long way.

Congratulations on your new job, but we both know it won’t last long. No, you’ll have to show your ass and they will put a boot in it for ya and then invite you to leave their property. Plus, they will encourage to never to return. I’m sure at some point, the police will be involved too. While I’m not 100% certain, your parting of the ways will probably have something to do with your employer wanting you to show up on time, perform to the standards they set or just plain and simple, do what they tell you to do etc, etc. Anyway, all I ask of you is: If you’re delivering groceries to me car, don’t talk to me. If you’re delivering a pizza or sub-sandwiches to my house, don’t talk to me. If you’re waiting on me at a gas station, don’t talk to me. Other than that, I wish you well and peace be with you and again, congratulations!!!

Are you still having problems with the loud pipes? I haven’t heard a motorcycle drive by in months.

Peter, just ignore the obvious and see where you end up at..I could care less where that may be as you continue to abuse the system and those that you want to confront without respect to their rights or to what the facts are! Your lamentation of what Christ said doesn’t reflect onto any of your actions for quite awhile…..

I know what my rights are…my rights are to not have to suffer loud obnoxious tailpipe noise as per Iowa and Municipal Code. My rights are to not have the power go out and be stuck in the dark without electricity nor heat. My rights are to not have to endure food shortages when trucks miss deliveries due to blizzards, food shortages, or domestic or international conflict. My rights are to be treated with dignity and respect as an equal, and as a human being and citizen. My rights are to utilize the sun, wind, earth, and water in a manner that is beneficial and non harming to the longterm sustainability of our planet and species. My rights are to not be harassed or intimidated by my government for wanting to use a medicinal botanical herb. My rights are to raise my family in domestic tranquility, protect my property, procure my food, and be free from the tyranny and subjugation of “landlords” and other false controllers and interjections who and that place themselves as superior and overseers to my rights to shelter and independent living. You don’t get it, and that’s why you aren’t in my political organization. I’m through catering to snickering cynical old men. I know what needs to be done, and I’m taking the steps to do it. My deity and source of strength and inspiration are found in the Sun.

So what you are saying is that an Act of God is a violation of your rights?

In order to do what needs to be done, it’s going to take new political identity. The former system cannot be worked with…this much has been proven. It’s a waste of time to work with those who don’t understand in the slightest the goals and principles of this higher order. So simple, yet so ignored…the basics of survival are the foundation and birthright of every citizen. Lazy, inept, dependent, infantilized, this system reduces us and holds back our true potential as humans and as men.

I was going to post this in the think tank but can’t find a link.

Minn. House Panel Opens Medical Marijuana Debate

http://www.kaaltv.com/article/stories/S3347884.shtml?cat=10226

My question is why does law enforcement get to dictate medical policy, seems insane. Because it’s a business.

MN is going to go medical first, before Iowa and you’re going to hear a the giant sucking sound of Iowa cash flow to MN.

Please does that mean you are going to move to Minnesota?

Peter, Peter, Peter, your mouth constantly runs over! But that is why Clear Lake’s electorate showed you the door. It is amazing to me how you can miss so much when it is apparent the potential good that can be derived if a Fortune 100 company would settle in our community. So let me remind you of a few things about our history. In the 1950’s Rochester, MN’s population was about 1/2 of Mason City’s 30,000. Mason City was approached by IBM about locating in the town but for a number of reasons the town wasn’t enthusiastic about the potential growth etc. Subsequently, Rochester was anchored by Mayo’s expansion and IBM’s presence so that today we have MC’s population at 28,000 and Rochester’s well over 105,000 not including Stewartville growth. Yes, it is now true that IBM is scaling back its presence in Rochester but the community and state are proceeding to invest 500 million to a billion dollars in their community to insure it’s vitality. Today every prudent community who wishes to grow must compete for JOBS, JOBS, JOBS to ensure that it can afford a vibrant and viable community. Peter, if you would look at who comprises the Fortune 100 you would see that this group of companies are blue chip organizations. Furthermore, only 25-30% of them require distribution sites to move product out to the public. It is highly, highly unlikely that anyone from the 10% of the petro/chemical group would ever want or need to locate here but so what if that would be the case as we all need to participate in energy independence! It should be pointed out that the Fortune 100 group doesn’t have any small weapons manufacturing associated with this group. You continue to miss the mark on what is relevant and what is not and you also continue to besmirch and defame those that serve Clear Lake and the surrounding communities. Someone and/or some group is going to get tired of the slander and miss truths and take you to task when they are tired of your decorum and fabrications. Take note that free speech and its platforms are guaranteed by the 1st amendment but the content of speech/letters better be true, accurate, and not cause harm…..everyone should take note of the fore mentioned facts!

On the last day, Jesus will say to those on His right hand, “Come, enter the Kingdom. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was sick and you visited me.” Then Jesus will turn to those on His left hand and say, “Depart from me because I was hungry and you did not feed me, I was thirsty and you did not give me to drink, I was sick and you did not visit me.” These will ask Him, “When did we see You hungry, or thirsty or sick and did not come to Your help?” And Jesus will answer them, “Whatever you neglected to do unto one of these least of these, you neglected to do unto Me!”

This is how I feel about the approach the Clear Lake City Government takes when dealing with common day problems and issues. They forsake the everyday residents in favor of the rich and connected.

I’ll just ignore your threats and innuendo…

They have an option to spend about $1000 to send out mailings to all residents asking them how they feel about loud noise from tailpipes and if they’d like to see the city do something about it. It would be fair, it would be democratic, and it would be educational. Will they send out such a questionnaire? Or will they continue to ignore those of us who don’t like feeling harassed in our homes, in our yards, and around town?

You tell me. What’s it going to be? Dictatorship or Democracy?

When you participate in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag…..how does that go again??? Is it….And to the REPUBLIC, for which it stands or is it…..And to the Democracy for which it stands????

I witnessed your performance at the council meeting last night (you could have at least said hello to me)and you were funny as always.

Wow, you need to get some sun too. You are starting to look like Casper the Ghost. Maybe you could lay on the dash of your moms car and suck up some passive solar rays.

Using scripture huh, I guess it comes back to the old military saying “know your enemy”.

NO, I genuinely believe in those words. I like much of what Jesus said. You confuse my calling out others as hypocrites to somehow believing that I don’t believe in or associate with Christian philosophy. I do. I utilize Jesus’s teachings in real life, whereas others only use them as an abstract comforting of themselves.

From the way you were talking I thought you were an atheist/buddist. I am impressed.

More like a Unitarian. Lol

“NO, I genuinely believe in those words.” Uh huh, sure just like any other Buddhist/ Spider would I suppose.

Jesus Buzz, people around me are starting to think I’m losing it, I’ve been laughing so much at that last one. Are you going to publish my Bible at some point? You seem to have all my annotations.

@Buzz-You have it right. he has stated many, many times he doesn’t believe in the bible or Christianity. Now, he wants you to believe he does.

Only because we are friends, do I pay close attention to what you say. Besides, its fun to watch you lean which ever way the wind is blowing at that moment. And don’t worry, I’m not getting snappy with you as I don’t want to be force feed by the likes of your 200 pound bulk/ hulk. 🙂

I’m preparing the uniform still. I measured my beret size at 22.5/8 and my BDU at XLT. My graphic designer still hasn’t completed the insignia logo, but I have ads running in about 20 progressive and large populace cities in Iowa and Minnesota. I will use my land as training grounds this summer. SNRPF Rules! This is better than Toastmasters.

HAHAHHAHAHA! Thanks for the laugh! Translation… “Wanted to join the military but couldn’t make the cut? Maybe you just like to dress up LIKE a soldier? Why not join Peters Para-posers?”

Glad you found amusement. You better get back to your racist, homophobic, sexist, oil driven murderous military…I think I hear them calling for you. Please continue with those vital operations in the Middle East, and my organization will handle the home front doing the right thing of what needs to be done to insure real long term stability and security. Poser? Yeah that about describes you.

Continue to grasp at straws. It will keep you off the streets. Good luck with your little fashion project.

Does it mess with your Matt Bradley pancake idyllic world view that men such as myself are willing to forge their own political identity? Pisses you off and scares you to think of humans completely stepping away from your little pyramid structure that you adhere to and feel comfortable in. How will you feel important about yourself if humans aren’t patronizing your offerings. Hilarious that I just saw Amy Fleming completely melt down on KIMT. She said “Oops did I do something wrong?” as the screen went completely black. First time I’ve seen a total meltdown at KIMT. Glad they had it. I think the screen should be interrupted more often to disrupt the warm as milk hypnotism the tv brings. Yes, Amy you did do something wrong to answer your question. You continue working for an organization that lulls humans to sleep and misses reporting on the things which really matter.

People do not have a problem with your “political identity”, but the fact that you encourage a dress code without action is merely fashion.

I don’t think you understand the gravitas of the situation. There’s a coming to grips with and transcending longstanding injustices; political, psychological, philosophical, spiritual, cultural differences present to such an irreconcilable degree, that it is impossible to express your true identity within the present paradigm, justifying a split with establishment forces.

Whereas minorities and individuals are alienated, underrepresented, ridiculed, ostracized, harassed, and no mechanism for recourse and remedy found.

Whereas fundamental and significant policy differences cloud, and indentured servitude, slavery, coercion and incarceration abound…and superstition, herbiphobia, architectural compromise…air quality degradation…educational omission are soups of the day…cultural hegemony, elemental depravity, biological bigotry…agricultural deletion…legal elitism…medical oblation & vivisection…psychiatric pedantry…violence and steak are consumed on a daily basis.

I think it’s okay to declare a new goal, a new political identity. If I want to envision an apparel choice to help me stay focused on track within the ideals and aspirations of which I believe…why would you have a problem with that? Every day you wear a cultural uniform of blue jeans, khakis, or sweat pants. Tell me how easy it is to build Rome when it’s near Zero Degrees in the middle of the winter, with a barren desolate landscape, a repetitive repressive polis, and humans around you keeping you down? How far will the slave go before he is returned to his master?

I don’t think you understand… well most things. You like to think you know how the world works but you refuse to operate within it without bitching and moaning about it. You preach self sufficiency and self reliance from your mom’s house with absolutely nothing to lose. You have now come up with a little costume for your movement. I understand alright. You need to go out and earn your own way and then you might be able to tell people how to earn their own way. Until then, you may want to put a locally made sock in it. Fox River makes a nice one.

“The generation that would change the world
Is still looking for it’s car keys”

Yeah, hey Philosophus…..Couple of questions: These costumes you keep babbling about, will they be locally made with domestic products? And the flowers your “group” plans on handing out at the airport while you are wearing these costumes, will they be locally grown and purchased? Also… I would have guessed you would have worn about a size 50 jacket and about a size 5 hat. Are you sure you measured your noggin correctly? And consider this, as a man of such self-proclaimed stature, you shouldn’t wear a beret (due to the military connotations and we know that you dislike our military) no, you should most assuredly be wearing a stove-pipe style, top hat. Just trying to help you out, but of course, you already knew that!

oh wise one, once again you are wrong, I do not sit on the council, those people are much to smart to get into anykind of debate with you because it is a waste of time. I however am just a concerned citizen of cl. but if I were on the council I would fully support this company and welcome them with open arms, like I think everyone but you would. oh well peter crawl back under your rock and leave the people alone, or MOVE

Crawl back under my rock? Well at least your true colors are coming out. NO, those people aren’t smart…they are entrenched in the Community. Big difference.

Snarky pig ? really peter for goodness sake, you are far from perfect, and describing anyone in that way just shows how shallow you are as a person. I was at the council meeting last night and I was surprised by your comments. 1) that thing about the bars, their are already laws in place about overserving people and their have been convictions. 2)As far as your concerns about what kind of company and what they might do, they have to follow zoning laws that are in place. their is strict zoning laws about what kind of of business can even go in their. Check for yourself, it is public record. 3) Mark Hewett said it well, this is a once in a lifetime project for our city, and yes it will help all business in Clear Lake, and he fortified it by saying his bank will buy all the bonds or as he said “We will put our money where our mouth is” that is something I noticed you, my friend, don’t do.

I guess since you were sitting laterally to Gary you didn’t witness the snarky sarcastic smile on his face as I approached the podium. My assessment of him still stands. He’s an asshole. I made a goodwill gesture to him early on in terms of public debates and his response I’ll never forget. As far as the company…I guess you’re missing the point: A government should be acting transparently, especially when it involves giving away such large amounts of money. More important than the money, the people have a right to know what kind of business the city council is going to be funding. What if it is a company that distributes Chinese goods? Maybe some local artisans and craftsmen will have something to say about that…maybe it’s a company that deals in military weapons or chemicals? We saw what happened in Northwood. NO one knows the type of company that may be coming because the agreement stipulates they don’t have to reveal it until the building is completed. By then it’s too late to do anything about it. This type of government I’m fervently opposed to, as should you be, as should everyone be. It’s the Top-Down Daddy Knows Best Patriarchal approach, and that type of bullshit solidifies their position as the “caregivers” / Providers and relegates all of us humans as inconsequential obedient children who should just accept what Daddy Crabb and company says and gives us. No thanks. These matters should be up front and straight forward. Screw the company if they operate in such a childish way. Even Amazon is a company I’d have to think twice about, since peddling Chinese crap is something I’m opposed to…I’m in the business of manufacturing guitars…why in the hell would I want Chinese guitars rolling in for $99? It’s not fair to our people, and it hurts our ability to know how to manufacture our own goods. IN one more generation, manufacturing will almost be completely forgotten as the children only know tech gadgets, how to operate them, but not how to make them. Sorry you don’t see things this way.

And concerning pub liability…no there is nothing that would hold liable the pub who serves a person to the point of public intoxication. There may be something that speaks to fatal accidents, but I’m referring to everyday arrests. The bars are able to serve people, make their money off them, get them drunk, then turn them out into the night for the police to scavenge off of. It’s not fair, and I contend that if a person is arrested for public intoxication or DUI, and they can prove they were just at a pub by their Debit Card receipts or eyewitness testimony, then the establishment who served them should share in the fines, or face fines of their own, and with repeated infractions their liquor license pulled. Fair is fair, and the way things are now favor the bars, but punish the patrons. The State makes their money twice either way…first from the liquor licenses and the alcohol tax, and second from the patrons they arrest. Double Dipping and it’s wrong.

The Pubs aren’t forcing their patrons to consume alcohol, no one shoves the drink into their hands. Its a matter of personal choice; and one of personal responsibility.

You are not interested in anything other than cradle to grave government management of others lives; you want to dictate what they listen too, what they buy and from who; what they eat and drink and to the amounts; how they get their electricity; etc…

Is there not probable cause to believe the crime of public intoxication is occurring in any pub across America at any given time? Why not have the police go inside the pub and administer PBT tests to measure BAC? No, of course not…they wait until the patrons leave the bar, then arrest them for public intox or worse DUI. The bars pay off the government to let them serve their poison, then the government gets to arrest the patrons after the bars served them over the legal limit. Why not go straight to the source and put a stop to the crimes being committed? Hypocrisy that’s why, and Double Dipping for revenue.

If the lifestyles and activities of people are shown to cause war, and environmental damage, and it can be prevented or reversed…why not do so? I don’t dictate, I suggest. Better paths to procure electricity and energy exist…yet they aren’t being chosen. That causes me to ask why? If you don’t ask why, you have something not right about you.

I’ve known for sometime now that Matt (the editor of NIT) favors Scott Flory over in Clear Lake. His deletion of my latest comments confirms it. What he may not know is I had inside (departmental) information telling me that information. I wasn’t just making it up. I’ll try and remember now that Flory is off limits to discuss on NIT.

What’s up with that Hart Brothers Weaponry TV commercial that shows bright red Nazi flags as a store item you can buy? If that isn’t catering to the latent white supremacist tendencies of North Iowa males…I don’t know what is.

It is military antiques and that is all. They are changing their business model in Albert Lea. The one in Mason City is still basically a gun store.

Just got out of the clear lake city council meeting. Gary Hugi is a snarky pig.

What were your impressions of the other key figures?

When I first talked, I saw Hugi snarkly snickering, as were most of the others…they all thought it was so funny until I kept speaking, and kept making sense. By the 3rd time I spoke, they weren’t smiling anymore. I’m logical, make good points, and am a voice of fairness and reason they can’t discount. Too bad the stupido townspeople are brainwashed simpletons, and the Council uses dumb majority to their advantage.

Here’s what else I noticed that struck me as odd…the new Interim Chief of Police Rex McChesney was having difficulty reciting the Oath of Office. It made me scratch my head wondering if the guy was simple in the head or just nervous?

I think they basically handle the duties of running a small town in a traditional way with very little imaginative thinking or forward proposals. I think for the most part they are all average and probably just slightly below average when compared Nationally. Face it…Clear Lake is a simple basic little town. I try to bring dynamism to the table, but they reject that which they don’t understand.

I think Boehnke is a decent guy, and Crabb was well mannered tonite…not push and terse like normal. As I’m soon to be a property owner here in Clear Lake, I have a vested interest in what’s happening.

Did you get one of those new apartments going up by the flower garden?

I guess I should be supportive of your attempts at sarcasm, as it shows higher brain functioning. No, I did not get one of those apartments, and btw…nice inversion of the use of the word apartment, as most would describe units you own as ‘condominiums’ despite apartment being a perfectly acceptable alternative for the word.

My aunt and uncle are moving into one of them and he called it an apartment so that’s where I got that from.

@maybe-If I am not mistaken the new condo’s (apartments) by the flower garden start in price at $125K. Pretty much out of the reach of most people who are retired or looking for affordable housing. Who want to pay that for a apartment?

Who can afford it? The wealthy that’s who. The city council of Clear Lake bases their legislative legacy on catering to the wealthy…that’s well established. Here’s the surprise Schoneman and other developers of these overpriced condos didn’t account for: QUALITY OF LIFE COMPROMISED. Older people don’t want to hear loud aggressive tailpipes from Harley’s and trucks with missing exhaust systems. IF the Council won’t do the right thing on their own, eventually they’ll be forced to deal with straight pipes because the Realtors will start complaining they aren’t getting their units sold. I personally spoke with 2 older people who said they were looking to buy downtown condo units, but passed because of all the loud ruckus. This is reality. However, when the Council acts on behalf of the rich, I’ll be there to remind everyone exactly WHY they are acting now, and question why they didn’t act straight away when I first mentioned it.

I watch it on TV and this Flory really seems like
a solid individual. I’m not sure he has enough talent
around him though to succeed. It will likely be a burden
removed from his shoulders by placing Greg Peterson
out to pasture. Others have told me that Peterson submitted
a fraudulent college degree as his educational
attainment. He looks very decrepit and I originally
thought he was from the nursing home. Someone needs
to video him at 7 Stars. I aer him there nearly
every day.

I would agree with what you wrote about Scott up to a point, but I don’t know all the behind the scenes information…and some I’ve heard is questionable, especially the false arrest of that Veteran who ended up suing the city and settling. Plus I’ve heard he’s immune to any parking restrictions and tears up any tickets he’s given by police. He does operate a loud exhausted Harley, which would need to be muffled, as those are illegal by Iowa Code. His speaking skills are good, and he seems to be pro active about matters. However, it always boils down to policy and direction, which ultimately lies with the Council. If Scott does truly serve at the pleasure of the Council, then perhaps he is being held back from his full potential. But as I’ve said before, I don’t know his politics, and I would think by now if he thought like me, it would show in the topics discussed by the Council.

For example, I brought up that the City of Clear Lake should be investing in 2-3 small local businesses for every large Fortune 100 company, and of course it all falls on deaf ears. Did you know that Clear Lake is giving this mysterious company 1.7 million in forgivable loans, plus the County is giving them 652,000 in forgivable loans in addition the City is giving them ten year tax breaks. I’d think they could select 2-3 local businesses who are struggling that could use a boost from the city to go along with the large investment.

That’s the type of leader I am, and the people lost out on a really solid individual who could have served them well. Those same 1000 snobby ignorant people control Clear Lake and it’s a shame the other 4300 people don’t rise up and vote.

Yes, he is. But we know Clear Lake has got a bad habit electing snarky pig’s name “Gary”.

862 people out of 5500 registered voters. Hardly a Quorum for Ostracism. When 2751 show up and vote against me, then perhaps I’ll consider leaving town.

All this talk of “booze-fueled parties” make be wanna go tie one on! LOL

This is a fight for the soul of North Iowa. Come on all you progressive people, stand up and put these racist, ignorant rednecks in their place. If you want to know why North Iowa has sucked for so long…this is the reason. Root these people out and force them to change. The Solar Revolution for Change and Progress has begun.

So this is how it starts huh? 1 wannabe leader with delusions of grandeur trying to lead the masses to the punch bowl. I guess I have learned enough of this so called person called Philosophu I was wondering what he was really like, someone who liked to debate or what but he ended up being someone who wants to over throw the government and instill his own form of a drug induced consciousness that he calls order. I do agree with a few things he says but that’s about it. Talk to ya later peter, much later.

Oh relax #maybe. No one’s trying to overthrow any government. I’m calling for cultural reformation. Your camp has been isolated for too long and it’s damaged our ability to move forward as a community. Too many of you are uneducated and have kept your father’s and grandfather’s racist short sighted values. You have acted as enablers for your phony 1% handlers. They realized how easy it was to keep you guys satisfied with Budweiser, your guns, the occasional war against dark people, and loud motors. We’re sick of it. It’s time to confront your pea sized brains once and for all.

@maybe-take it easy. No one is going to follow him anywhere. everyone in North Iowa has figured him out. just like no one voted for him, no one pays any attention to him. I for one have quit answering him and if everyone else do too perhaps he would go away like he has promised so many times. Either way, he is not worth the keystrokes.

I heard something very disturbing this morning.
Apparently there’s a man who is following women in the early morning hours in a van? I looked on the police incident reports there was indeed a few reports taken. I heard that it was a globe carrier. Does anyone know if this is true or not?If its true I think all media needs to report on this and shame on the globe for not putting this in their paper.

@Jo-thank you. This is interesting. And, it is a good question. Why isn’t this police report being reported in the GLOBE?

I think I should of been more specific. I meant I heard it was a globe carrier being followed.

@Jo-thank you again. But that makes it even worse. Why wouldn’t the GLOB do a report concerning one of their contractor’s?

USA’s fall into 2nd world (not 3rd world) status was a result of the exportation of American Jobs by Republican leaning Corporate Masters. Don’t try and rewrite history. The decline of America occurred during the 8 years of misery under George W. Bush. Those years will be known as the “YEARS OF THE ROBBERS” as corrupt men had a free-for-all masked under the cloak of foreign war. Scooter Libby pardoned by Dubya. One covering for the other. Suitcases of millions of dollars missing in Iraq; “bribe money” they called it. There’s a spot waiting for you in hell when you pass on from this world. Be sure and scramble over the head of the last moron to get slightly better seating while you witness your own thousand year torture. You deserve it. And PLEASE don’t get reborn into this world again.

figures

@Maybe-You will have to excuse STUPID above. He forgets that it was Clinton who put in NAFTA and that the FULL CONGRESS including their great goddess HILLARY voted for the war in IRAQ. Stupid is as Stupid does and Philly wrote the book on STUPID.

@ LVS….And the genius that he thinks he is allowed this all to happen while he was camped out in mommys basement too. Some super-hero he is.

There’s a lot of good police officers out there, and tonite I met one who took the time to look for a little dog someone left out in the cold. While the dog squirmed past us, the officer said he’d return in awhile and try again. Thank you.

On another note…does anyone else get nauseated listening to Nelson Crabb’s voice? He physically makes me sick when I hear him talk. Repulsive.

Yes, but its not as bad as seeing you posting on this site like you owned the place. Why do you bother the rest of us with your constant phsyco ramblings? You have really stayed past your welcome.

All good questions…..but, you will get used to his rants and screedsm just disregard him like the rest of us do. Its a well know fact that Philosophus can’t say “hello” in 5 minutes or less. Let alone the fact that he’s windier than a sack full of a**-holes too. Not sure he’e as nuts as you think. Who else do you know that can make it through life with no job and living in their moms basement and have nothing to show for their efforts?

Why Buzz I dare say that sounds like a compliment. Thank you old chap.

Philly AKA Peter is a jackass. He is ruining this site. He is a disturbed individual who can’t survive without attention. Has no job, no ambition to get a job, and lives in his mommy’s basement ranting on this website. Probably because this is the only site that will allow him. He is a sickening person that only thinks about himself. Thank goodness he wasn’t elected on the council in Clear Lake. I’m sure the citizens of that community know how crazy he is. Mommy’s not going to live forever, so who knows, maybe Peter will eventually get put where he’s needed to go for quite some time………a mental institution.

Hey redneck…why don’t you try putting me there yourself? OH that’s right, because you’re too stupid and dependent on everyone else to do things for you. Go back to Wal Mart you cretin idiot.

“OH that’s right, because you’re too stupid and dependent on everyone else to do things for you.”

Hello Spider, ummm I mean pot.

I agree but have you ever seen the demeanor of a good cop when they’re around a bad cop? sad

This is true. They tend to clam up and go silent…and they end up going down the road of the bad cop. They may hate themselves for doing so, but you’re right…when the moment is happening, they support the aggressive bad cop. What we need is strong leadership from lieutenants, captains, and chiefs to root out the assholes. Hard to do because the assholes come in use when they need to take down overly aggressive criminals. This is why I ask people to police themselves. It will help eliminate the excuse the cops have for keeping the bad ones around.

I have to thank you for the efforts you have put in writing this site.
I am hoping to see the same high-grade blog posts from you in the future as well.
In truth, your creative writing abilities has encouraged me to get my very own blog now 😉

you get more fact based truthful news on the Daily Show than on Fox news. Plus you get better laughs.

Getting real news from the daily show is like getting the truth from Obama.

Getting real news from Fox News is like getting intelligence from the Tea Party. It doesn’t happen

You wouldn’t know real news even if it was happening right in front of you, unless your handlers told you about it first.

#maybe: I see that you’re using leftist lines to attack your opponents now. It’s amusing to watch Fox News do a complete 180 degree turn after they lost the election. They’re so desperate. Humans have such limited intelligence that they don’t even realize how much the propaganda shifts. Shortly after Fox lost the election to Obama, they began attacking the Military, and saying things which could very well have come out of the mouths of Rachel Maddow, Keith Olbermann, and all the other winning commentators. It proves they are soulless and will use whatever strategy they need to win. Right now it’s the “underdog” strategy. Morons like you aren’t smart enough to detect the shift.

@maybe-the libraterds are so brainwashed and programmed the no longer know how to think for themselves. Both Dunn and the train drivers are unions supporters and know nothing except what their union bosses tell them. Just consider the source.

@Philly-I have never seen FOX News do anything except be respectful to our Military. That is completely different from you who does nothing but try to put down people who are so much better than you that you can’t even get up high enough to kiss their A##. What a lying, worthless piece of crap you are.

My comment wasn’t attack but an observation.

How could anyone expect you to pay attention LVS? Shortly after losing the election, Fox news adopted the very strategy the left used to win the White House. They began questioning the military fashioning them as “controlled by Obama”. I saw it with my own eyes. Fox News is a bunch of Goebbels influenced self serving propagandists. Now, they have begun re-assembling themselves as pro-patriotic, but for awhile after the election they could have easily been mistaken for leftist communist rebels trying to overthrow the very government they used to glorify under George W. Bush.,..military included. It proves that unless THEY are the ones controlling the government or military, they will act the same way as the leftists they formerly condemned. Btw…isn’t it time for you to suck an egg again?

Wait one cotton picken minute, you said you saw it yourself yet YOU said that you don’t watch Fox News. Which is it? I watch it for 30 minutes in the morning then I get my grandson ready for school but when I get home I watch headline news and I have NEVER seen Fox News put down the military. This is one time that I will have to agree with LVS and personally call you a liar.

I’d rather have you watch this link instead of going back thru all the Fox News Clips: Militias Rise in America.

Actually I found this one on Militias, and it’s interesting. I actually agree with what these guys say and are doing…AND they agree with legalizing marijuana. Forget about the Fox News thing…and watch this instead. It’s worth watching. My mind is open, not closed. And these 2 guys talking about the Alaska Militia are intelligent and well reasoned.

@maybe-Of course Philly is a liar just like his buddy’s (Tonya) SUCKS and (Joel) who post under all different names. They lie about about everything and make up facts just like Obama. How many times has Philly said “I am out of here” “I am leaving N.I.T.”, “I am moving out of Iowa” and on and on, and on.

LVS proves it was never about dialogue and “building a more perfect union”…no, it was always just about what LVS wants. You’re a dictator LVS…a nobody…but still a dictator. Your time is almost over here on Earth. The next generation doesn’t think anything like you…thank goodness.

Was that a threat to LVS? I hope you have insurance LVS.

Only his neanderthal Fox news watching little buddy would skew what I said into a threat. NO, it wasn’t a threat…it was a reference to his advanced years. Normally I’m not such a mean person, but I respond in kind…I meet force with force…insult with insult…and LVS is the King of Nasty on NIT. A bitter pissed off old man, and he deserves no less than what people give him on these blog pages. And I don’t care if some people think you’re a soldier hero…you’re a lackey Cretin in my book.

Sounds like you are getting alittle pissy there peter. You need to get together with the jury and smoke a few bowls.

@ Philosophus….Tell em the tough guy story you told us all about what happens when people get “snappy” with you and what you feed them. My guts still hurt from laughing out you over that line of crap. But, it was funny. By the way, I’ll bet you still haven’t been back to that grocery store either.

You want to know what’s really funny? I went to the microbrewery about a day after I wrote that and he came in and was drinking a beer by the fireplace. I went and sat around the fire and made some small talk with him. Nothing came of it. I didn’t bring it up because I hadn’t talked to the grocery gal yet. But what’s really funny is that I did talk to the grocery gal and she told me it was a hundred dollar bill that was thrown on the floor, but she played it off. But I know what I saw. Anyway, it doesn’t matter anymore. It’s over. If he got the message and became a bit friendlier to his customers and employees then great.

Old Philly is a real computer tough guy when he knows people can’t reach him. If I ever do see him I am willing to bet he pees his pants and runs away like a girl. I take that back, girls have a lot more guts than that piss ant does. But he will still run away or my wife might kick his butt.

one of the main differences between news on the left and the right is that the left use facts and proven truths to build and report the news story. The right figures out how they want the story to end and then bend and stretch the true, throw in lie or two, to make it fit the outcome of their story. Anyone with just some commonsense sees this. And as Philosophus says, case in point, the 2012 Presidential elections.

It is still hard to believe that there are people out there that are blind as a bat. The news on the right reports it as it is, the news on he left reports what they want you to believe.

@maybe-It is easy to win elections when you give away other people hard earned money to people like Philly who live off the system and have never worked a day in their lives. There he sits in his basement (he is afraid to come out in daylight) living off his mother and the mental disability checks he gets because his brain is fried. People like that are the ones who voted to give away our taxes to these waste of spaces.

maybe when are your new glasses coming in?

Glasses won’t help you. You need to be unbrainwashed.

Anybody else find it ODD the fire on E. State street started because the tenant turned the stove on to heat their apartment. I mean the place looks like a dump in need of A LOT of TLC. So curious as to why that person was left to a stove as a source of heat in this bitterly cold.

no. your the one that left a pet in the vehicle. experienced customers know not to do that.
On a serious note. no joke, we heard a cat meow in a Chinese restaurant in Iowa falls maybe 5 years ago.

saw the old owner Hunan carry in 5 carp from willow creek next to it. haven’t ate there since..

Smoked carp is actually pretty good.

I think I’ve identified my next major challenge to the “system”. I question why a person needs to go thru law school in order to sit for the bar exam to become a practicing lawyer? I telephoned the University of Iowa and they told me tuition for law school is $21,000 per year…and that doesn’t include any extra fees such as books, nor does it include your living expenses. If I were to file a lawsuit against the State of Iowa, I would argue that requiring a jurisdoctorate degree prior to sitting for the BAR unfairly ostracizes many potential lawyers based on financial status. I am now considering returning to school because I see this system woefully needs help, and I must jump into the system in order to change it.

Even you can’t be serious, can you? Please give up on the lawyer thing, all you are going to do is embarass your family….again.

We all took a vote an nominated you Buzz to debate him on this one. the rest of us will just sit back and laugh.

He not only embarrasses his family, he embarrasses himself. Face it Peter. You say you have a job
; Correcting the problems of the world……just what does that pay exactly? If it wasn’t for your mother letting you live in the basement, you would be no where. Your mommy isn’t going to live forever, maybe you should try planning for your future and get a job that actually pays money. But at your age, you are more than likely not eligible to do much of anything.

My “plan” is to set up a hermitage and yoga center, which will serve as a base of operations for free-thinkers who wish to gain relief from the corrupted world and its thoughts. The center for world liberation will be self sufficient and make all its own products and energy sources. I need to get this established before I pass on, so it can serve to help deliver me if I’m reborn into this region again. The attending monks will carry on the torch and any children /young adults who are born into bad circumstances can eventually find their way to the hermitage and center for truth. I think ahead…way ahead.

Keep on smokin’ there buddy.

Buzz, are you capable of independent thinking? I don’t think you are. You’re basically a lazy fat slovenly man who drinks beer, does what he’s told, then comes on here to preach contentment as a virtue. You have no ambitions in life really. There are lots like you; content and complicit. The world evolves at a slower rate with men like you in large numbers.

Besides getting up today, what have you ever accomplished in your life? You talk smart and act like you have all the answers, when in fact all you are now is all you will ever be in life. Think about it, you know I’m right. That’s why you’re mad and that’s why you are crying.

I’m still perplexed after what I saw in court the last couple days. On one hand about 10 people raised their hands when the prosecutor asked “who thought medicinal marijuana should be made legal”, yet on the other hand I sense the population still doesn’t care about shaping their own destiny or fundamentally changing the way society operates. It’s still business as usual and probably will be for a very long time. AT least I tried, which is more than most of you can say. I challenged the system, and still challenge it every chance I get if I see an error or a hypocrisy. The legal system is high flawed, and we are under the control of some very deep propaganda and ignorance which holds most of the cards. I’ve been a casualty of the process, but I’m trying.

Believe me, you being perplexed had nothing what-so-ever to do with the court system.

And yet you say the legal system is high flawed, what do suppose would become of it if you were allowed into it?

You are a funny little fella, that’s for certain.

There still might be hope for Philly. He could be a Walmart greeter. But, then again maybe not. He would have to pass a pee test.

I already passed the pee test: You said it tasted great!

Peter, The reason for being certified by the BAR is simple. The system needs competent lawyers who understand the law, it’s application, and processes. I am cognizant that there are a portion of the practitioners that are for whatever reason, incompetent.

However, in an effort to make sure a legal representative has the ability to protect a client’s constitutional rights under the law, is why we require certification.

I am reminded that Lincoln was self taught as a lawyer, passed the BAR, and became a very highly regarded counselor in his day. Times however are far more complex. No matter what branch of law you choose, it is far more specialized, and the expectations are that you are competent in that field.

I guess it is akin to choosing a surgeon to remove a tumor, if he ain’t certified, would you really trust the outcome? The law is just as complex as the human body.

And if you do not agree with that, you are lacking reality.

I just had this discussion in the kitchen with a family member. She made the same argument. Here’s where it’s different. If a surgeon or doctor makes a medical mistake, it could cost a patient their life or seriously injure them, and be irreversible. If a CPA makes a mistake on your taxes, it can be caught by the IRS or another tax professional and changes made with relatively little fallout. If a lawyer makes a mistake on your case, it can be caught by our various checks and balances within the legal system. The medical system is different than the legal system in that regard. Poor legal representation may prolong your incarceration, but there is a chance for the mistake to be remedied…a surgical mistake may cost you your life right on the spot. Same goes for someone prescribing you a medication erroneously that kills you within one or two doses due to contraindications.

I believe a person should be able to study and sit for the BAR without having to pay the exorbitant Bachelors and J.D. fees associated with the schooling. I’d agree that an internship could be required for a period of time after passing the BAR. If anything I believe a fast track legal program should be developed where a person can immerse themselves for 2 years and become a lawyer at the end of it. I’m in my forties. I have worldly experience and wisdom. There’s no reason I should need to take Music Appreciation class to become a lawyer. Why would you send an electrical engineering student over to a plumbing job for 3 years before returning to jump into electrical circuits? You wouldn’t…not if you were smart anyway. I understand this concept of “liberal arts” but we need specialists who excel in their trade and are focused. Undergraduate education is a distraction and something to occupy the minds and bodies of 18 year olds…not grown men who seek to make a change in our broken world.

You shouldn’t argue with your Mom…after all, it’s her basement you live in.

I never said a person shouldn’t have to sit before the BAR. I’m saying that person should be eligible to pass the BAR without needing to go to law school and get their undergraduate degree. Law School at UI costs $21,000 per year in tuition only. That keeps the majority of poor people OUT of the judicial system…which is where I allege those who work within the system want them. If the North End Ghetto people were working alongside law enforcement…how long would it take before the cops would protest by quitting and moving out of the community? It’d be quick. The whole way the game is played relies on exclusion and elitism. One batch of humans with badges and guns, and the other running around helter skelter trying to avoid being caught. The Last Thing in the World, is for those within the Judicial system or Dept. of Corrections to let the criminals they prosecute into their social club or income bracket.

“If the North End Ghetto people were working alongside law enforcement…how long would it take before the cops would protest by quitting and moving out of the community?”
That’s a laugh. “North End Ghetto people” probably haven’t even graduated high school let alone work for a living. I doubt if they even took the lazy way out and got their GED.

@Anonymous-there is no North End Ghetto People. We shipped them all to 8th Ave. in Clear Lake.

@Philly-I will say it again so you can understand it. What a worthless, dumb a## you really are.

Do you know any rich law students?

Lawyers named Nichole…Hmmm…????

OMG…Petey..just stop. You are all over the place. All I ever see from you are these “grand” ideas. Honestly, go out and obtain a job. No one will ever take you seriously while you live in your parent’s basement. This used to be a place for anything new in north iowa, but you turned it into why you should be this and that…..guess what? You failed at life. I never ever want to see you post again and if there was a zombie apocalypse, you would be eliminated by any group of survivors.

Roles. Labels. Names. Bars. Jail Cells. Prisons. In my world there is freedom. There is logic. There is fairness. But above all there is adaptability. You wouldn’t have the chance to kill me in a Zombie Apocalypse because I’d already have you in my sites, and would have blown your head off…because of course, you’re the Zombie.

It would be cool if NIT subscribers could set the NIT “look” their User Control Panel. I would set my background to be black, as it helps me read better when there is more contrast with subdued colors. Just a thought. Now before some of you start pouncing on me, understand that registered users (if the function is enabled) are sometimes able to set their own preferences that only apply to THEM when they are logged in, and not to the General Public’s viewing. It’d also be nice to be able to track your own individual comments and then click on them from your control dashboard.

Gut Morgan everyone.

Does anyone remember the old sitcom “Cheers” from the 80’s? Where Cliff Claven lived with his mother but seemed to know everything about anything. His catch phrase…”It’s a little known fact”. Well I think Peter is a Cliff Claven. Oh wait, Cliff Claven had a job!!!!

I have a job too…a most lofty one: Correcting the Problems of the World.

Good luck

Does anyone remember back in the early 80’s when somebody tagged the side of a building downtown with “All IN ALL IT’S JUST ANOTHER BRICK IN THE MALL”

Well, that was me! LOL

And now you know the rest of the story…good day!

Yes Tonya, we remember. It is about time for you to go BACK to jail.

Lots of hotties in the Gym now getting ready for summer! Girls dress so much better in the gym then they used to. Remember those leotards and leggings? Even back then I thought it looked ridiculous. Today, it’s all leggings and yoga pants in and out of the gym. Young guys got it made these days.

I meant leotards and leg warmers. haha. I love the leggings look are woman today. Boots and leggings, now you’re talking!

It figures that a female like you would like other hot looking women. They should drug screen everyone before they allow them near the public. I wonder if they know they are letting a admitted felon near women and kids. A freak like you has no business being there. Right Kathy?

Stop worrying about my real identity you old stalker freak.

You are starting to sound more and more like the girl you really are fat girl.

OK, just got back from the Gym and steam room. Another day, another dollar. Holy crap ANOTHER week of below zero temps into March even! It just won’t stop.

OK if you want to make money, here’s how. During the gold rush it was the guys who sold miners supplies that made good money. Learn how to blow glass and sell pipes, bongs and vaporizers in Colorado. I’m telling you, the cash flow is just insane there. Nice, healthy, attractive and smart people everywhere who have nothing against pot. Even the cops are cool.

I think the world may actually be getting better. I heard the military is going to be cut substantially…biggest levels since WW2. At last the militarization of the world is coming to a close. The era of intelligence and peace are upon us.

Think about it peter, if you can. They cut the military, which is the only thing keeping iran and north korea from attacking us, and then guess what happens, Red Dawn. One of these days you will need to get a spanking.

Nope, I don’t believe in that brainwashing. You guys have been selling that line of thought for 50 years now…the “What if”. I’ll tell you what happens if credible threats develop…America will raise back up an Army, just as Washington did during the fight against the British. IN fact, the Founding fathers warned against a “Standing Army”, being dangerous to free and peaceful people.

Furthermore, investments into our own renewable infrastructure, and a 75% Chinese import tax will allow us domestically to compete, survive and thrive once again. The China Syndrome needs to end, and all those American investors and CEO’s who sold us out to China need to be kicked out of the country. I cannot compete honestly in my business, because Chinese Crap rolls off the ships from Musicians Friend and all the other companies who make and distribute Chinese made guitars. It’s bullshit. I want an even playing field. When you can get some Chinese assembly line guitar sent to you in the mail for $99 things aren’t right. China manipulates their currency as has already been proven. America needs to wake the hell up and learn how to build things again. Work isn’t the idiot LVS definition of the word…NO. Work means manufacturing things yourself and figuring out the technology we need to survive and thrive at home. For that, I’m every bit a Patriot and more. More than most of you out there in Chinese Crapsville. Like I said…I’m the Real American Patriot….I’m just waiting for you brain washed idiots to wake up and realize this.

So you are saying that we would be better off without a military? Our language would have changed a few times if that was true. We would be speaking Spanish, then Japanese or Russian, or Arabic. We would be the pussies of the world if you had your way.

@maybe-that is because cowards and sissy’s have to try to bring brave men down to their level to try to justify their existence. It will not work. People have just about had their fill of these pacifist cowards who hide in a basement and insult and make fun of much netter men then they will ever be. Hell, I don’t even classify them as men. Pussy’s are more like it.

Maybe, the issue appears beyond your scope of comprehension, but I’ll try to explain it anyway. What you don’t seem to understand is that America has been exploiting smaller nations for their oil for decades now. Most of the conflicts that have arisen have been borne out of imperialist grabs for oil resources. If America were to adopt a clean, green money machine here at home, with renewable energies, and domestic manufacturing, we wouldn’t even need to be in the middle east. Facebook has changed the world. We are all connected now. Military operations of the future will be small surgical strikes, just as Rumsfeld, and now Hagel are predicting it. We don’t need large standing armies or Orcs waiting on Sauron’s words to attack. We here in Iowa are a peaceful Hobbit folk, and if we possess the capability to create our own energy supply, raise our own food, manufacture our own goods…let’s be the good little Christian Hobbits and DO IT. We’ve been hypocrites for far too long. It’s time to stop, and evolve to an era of PEACE and Architectural Mastery.

You’ve got this oil thing in your head and it just won’t leave, all you give us is your opinion and you condem the military because of your warped opinion. You would even say that our fight now for our 2nd amendment rights is because of oil. I do agree that using more solar and wind power might help us more but if you cut out the oil you are also cutting out thousands of jobs, unless you don’t care about that, or care about driving somewhere.

Maybe, if the military weren’t controlled by corporate masters, they could take initiative and use all that man and woman power to develop the renewable energy grid here at home. That would be a good investment of their time. If they would do this, I would say YES, we should continue to fund them. However paying them in large numbers to prepare for the next Armageddon isn’t a good use of money, nor their time and energy. Like I said before, if our Military was a righteous organization, I would be in it, and high ranking…Major probably. But it isn’t, and thus until they grow a brain and reconfigure to serve the 21st century needs, they need to dissolve, and go back into civilian life until they can learn how to serve the people once again, and not dream of discharging their weapon into some man’s skull.

Martini Bar? I thought we agreed to let sleeping dogs lay…btw…too bad you made that bad move that cost you your business. Better luck next time.

How many of your friends have you actually seen? eliminate some of those friends and it may not seem so bad, or eliminate posts from those people.

That reminds me of about 25 years ago when I had a friend who had some listening device or radio of some sort where we could listen to random cell phone calls. I was totally amazed how utterly boring most people are. Totally boring lives and that was when it costs real money to talk on cell phones. Most people are drones.

Informative and factual posts like yours are most welcomed additions to this forum. Thank you for being a cut above most who hang and bang here.

Philos is beyond a nut job. I think he might be considered certifiably and clinically insane. Grown man who lives in his parents basement glued to his computer with no life other than NIT. I find it puzzling how he can think he knows so much when he is not living in the real world. No job, no bills, obviously no friends, nothing but a keyboard and a screen. Claiming to work by building guitars which is no more than a hobby, not providing a solid income with no insurance. I think he doesnt have a job because he has no ambition to get a job or a life. There is a word for people like him……..loser.

This man Pilosophus is an embarrassment. I encouraged him to go after Greg Peterson at the Clear Lake police department. Pilosophus tucked tailed and ran like a coward. He is aware of Peterson’s bogus college diploma and failed to write a single letter to the editor about it. Apparently Peterson. Has something on him. The new man honor the Peterson/Philosophus compact. I suspect trouble is brewing.

Philosophus doesn’t “go after” anyone. He works within the letter of the law, and in the case of missing or faulty laws seeks to change or draft them. If you have a personal vendetta against Chief Petersen, that is your own issue. Philosophus finds fault in the Chief in that he doesn’t respond well to citizen complaints and seems to have milked his years at the CLPD to bring in large paycheck, with very little energy expended. Philosophus hopes his successor will do better, but won’t be holding his breath on the matter. And Philosophus did plenty to bring the issue of the inept Chief to the public’s awareness. What part of Chief Petersen is retiring seems to slip past you? Now as far as whatever retirement package has been offered…that should be scrutinized, as he already made $90,000 a year for many years off the City, and was given a new truck to drive around in. The man has it made in the shade. Just another example of corrupt and misguided use of public funds.

Wow, referring to yourself in the third person and taking credit for the chief retiring. Good morning peter, it has been a full day so far for you.

Congratulations to the Battle of the Badges on raising $40,000 for Make-A-Wish.

Wow, I did not hear that. Good work folks!

Welcome Mr. Ed Kent. Are you still ripping off people’s deposit monies? You were so good at it. Who else could you be? You’re the only one who comes to mind. Yes I told the truth about you and how you run your landlord operations on the Globe Gazette, and yes I was kicked off that site, because the Globe is nothing but a cover up to the truth. Shall we really start a witness testimony section for all the people who have been ripped off by you? I’m sure they’ll start coming forward. But you won’t admit your identity will you?

Leaving for the Gym now to get swole. What did you do today?

Nuff said.

You should take my buddy Philosophus with you. PLEASE.

OK, I just got back in time for 60 minutes. Wow, a young gal complimented me own my workout attire. Said it was very cool. That’s what the old guy likes to hear! LOL.

Had two baked potatoes today and lean turkey. It’s all I will eat today and ate it 3-4 hours before I hit the gym. Now I won’t eat again till tomorrow late afternoon. I’ll have coffee with coconut oil for breakfast and lunch. Then I’ll hit the gym again and eat about 800-1000 calories tomorrow. It’s the only way I can get the fat off at my age. Positive comments from young gals really help with motivation, haha.

You are a damn liar. You are fat and will always just be a fat, lying doper.

That’s called projection. You’re really telling us about yourself.

At least you don’t do naked jumping jacks…. I hope.

He lost his election for a council seat in Clear Lake. The good people in that community didnt want this nut job representing their town. I saw this man at the court house last election, his ego is so big Im surprised he could fit his fat head through the door, and NO I was not impressed at all.

@real name-you know he has stopped spouting off about his jury duty. Just like we said, they would have to be crazy to pick him for a jury. If people would quit enabling him I think he would just go away. You can not win a argument with him as he thinks he is right about everything.

No, I don’t think he will ever go away. He thinks too much of himself and thinks that this site was put on the internet just for him. I don’t understand why Matt keeps allowing this. In the end, it’s going to cost NIT money. No one wants to keep reading P.L.’s stupid ramblings.

At this point, you’re addicted to me. I’m that part of your brain you’ve always wondered about, but never explored.

Nope, not addicted to you. You sicken me. When I saw you at the court house my feelings toward you were confirmed, you’re a creep. I don’t even read your crap! I see your name and keep scrolling. Sorry Matt. Not getting money out of me simply because you can’t control Peter.

Hmm. I’m wondering how it is you DON’T think of yourself as a control freak fascist? I bother you so much that you just can’t go on huh? Wow. I must really have dug deep into your brain. I guess powerful writing, and powerful thinking has that affect. Honestly I don’t get people like you. You claim you are for freedom, yet you ask for censorship and banning? Or maybe you’ve never claimed you are for freedom…in which case YOU’RE the one who should go away. It’s also funny to me, how those who make the misspelled, ignorant, racist comments on here don’t seem to bother you…yet this little old guy named Philosophus has you so much in arms, that you’ve come on here repeatedly asking Matt to ban him…even coyly suggesting to others they should withhold subscription money as a way to get Matt to comply with your wishes. Yet Matt doesn’t comply with you does he? No. Not, because Matt agrees with me (I’m sure he often doesn’t), but Matt is wise enough to understand the virtues and longterm benefit of free speech, and that if he gives in to censors such as you, he’d be shooting his own feet in the long run. As Matt has stated, and as I’m stating: NOTHING IS PREVENTING YOU FROM SPEAKING YOUR MIND and ignoring others.

So why don’t you? What’s stopping you?

You sure you’re not talking about John Lee or Alex Kuhn? Some men plan their entire lives for the day when they are going to run for city council…or realize and plan well in advance. The guy who ran in Clear Lake used the run to make a political point about loud tailpipes and decided it about a day after it was announced there was an opening. For that purpose he accomplished his goal. In hindsight, he spent too much money, but now the groundwork is prepared for a law suit, should one need to develop. This will depend on what the city intends on doing about the issue.

LVS: Jury duty? I phone in again tomorrow for the final week. I’ve already accumulated $60 for jury duty, and hopefully will score an important trial to net some more. I’m on Blue Panel, so you’re welcome to call in the jury message yourself. Remember LVS…no guns at the courthouse…or you’re going to jail.

@Philly….Ummm if I recall John Lee and Alex won their seats on the city council. Unlike you, Peter. Why don’t you do yourself and everyone else a favor and get an appointment with Dr. Armstrong. You obviously need meds, and the legal kind, not the illegal.

Meds? So I can think more like you? You’re obviously removed from the concept of free-thinking, and freedom of thought. The old “you need medication” bit is the premier tool to keep humans “in-line”. I’m actually feeling good this morning. Nice sunny, blue-sky day. Lots of hope and potential for the world. Tell me what you think an appointment with SS Officer “Dr.” Dale Armstrong is going to accomplish, other than to possibly attempt to shut me up with a chemical restraint? Restraints are considered the more humane option to using a bullet, but let’s not delude anyone…your objectives are the same.

I have a suggestion for you: Go to the Auditor’s Office at the Court House…they give away free Constitution Pamphlets. You need one. Read it this time.

“Dr.”

Yes, he is board certified, and has more than sufficient credentials to practice his trade.

What do you have?

Well we already know that you do not like the Mental Health field, and would stop at nothing to disparage them at every opportunity. Other than that, not much I suppose.

Observer, the mental health industry has a more than dubious history of disfigurement, experimentation, and chemical castration. Your beloved Dr. Armstrong was part of the unholy 3 who were responsible for drugging many North Iowa people to the point of permanent disability, sometimes leading to death. Maybe you haven’t seen some of the legal commercials announcing class action lawsuits against the makers of many drugs. Risperidol the male tit builder…Zoloft, the maternal birth defect giver…and then there’s drugs they don’t even mention such as Haldol, Proloxin, Stelazine, Mellaril, Clozaril, and a whole bunch of nasty others, that have literally killed people. But these people are society’s forgotten unwanted souls, and they aren’t even worthy of lawyers filing lawsuits on behalf of. Armstrong guesses diagnosis as does Lassise, to justify compensation to his organization by Title 19. ex Human Rights Commissioner Foster wouldn’t know anything about this though would he? That’s because he slept in his chair, while human rights abuses were occurring right across the street in the Park. Learning curves for psychiatrists with human guinea pigs? Nah, that’s not acceptable. The whole industry is full of shit. Humans can help themselves with proper diet, proper rest, Yoga, exercise, massage and sauna….none of which are offered at the Mental Health Center or Mercy for that matter. The entire industry is full of shit. I had to say it again, because it’s true. Peace out fools.

If you get picked it will be a damn good reason to get the case dismissed. I am sure they will ask you if you have ever been committed to a mental institution (5 east counts) and if you lie you will go to jail for lying. Man, will those guys in jail have fun with you. You will have to change your name to something female when you get out.

I saw him in his suit coat and sweater vest at one of the Mason City debates mumbling to himself and chewing on his knuckle. Then he got spanked in the Clear Lake election.

I really think that Peter is an unhappy, pitiful person. Has no job, and apparently no ambition to get a job. Lives in his parents basement. Is socially awkward, and doesn’t know really anything that is reality. He is in his own creepy little world. Kind of sad actually. His postings here seem to be a cry for attention and help.

I subscribe to a DIY ethic you people seem to know little about. You say “Get a Job”…I say “Create a Job”. Do it yourself. Whose philosophy in the longterm wins? MINE DOES. If you spent your time educating yourself instead of scouring Classifieds asking for someone to tell you what to do…our Society would become much better involved. My political campaign fights to bring awareness to this. I’m fighting for human beings to have the safety and buffer zone not to be enslaved, but to choose their own path, picking up on useful technologies which will push our Society forward. If a person has to answer to the Corporate Masters for 10 hours out of the day just to keep a roof over their head and food, they won’t have the ability to think of manufacturing or installing solar panels, building wind turbines, building off the grid houses, developing biofuels, or converting cars to electric now will they?

You just don’t understand, and probably never will. Iowans have become fat, lazy, easily led around creatures. And what do fat, lazy, buffet driven creatures need? Heroes. Thus you have the constant military worship and propaganda, because a group of gun wielding men have stepped to the forefront along with Billions of dollars in Blue Blood Defense money commercialized propaganda behind them to tell the fatties they are being protected and to keep voting them in power, so they can keep eating 99 cent Cheeseburgers.

That’s reality IOWA. And I’m trying to break that spell and present a new reality.

Are you trying to say that you are a hero here in iowa, someone to be admired?

I’m not saying that, but you’re thinking it. Look, every morning I beat you to the punch #maybe. If this was war, I’d be up and scrambling eggs before you even climbed out of your cot. I’m the Major, you’re the corporal.

@Philosophugus “If a person has to answer to the Corporate Masters for 10 hours out of the day just to keep a roof over their head and food, they won’t have the ability to think of manufacturing or installing solar panels, building wind turbines, building off the grid houses, developing biofuels, or converting cars to electric now will they?”
They can think about it all day long but at the end of the day that is all they have done. One cannot accomplish those things without resources and those are attained through working for them. You PREACH DIY and self sufficiency without any skin in the game from a residence you don’t own. It shoots your credibility in the foot

Funny you mention the rank major, that was the last thing I had on my vehicle. You don’t know when I get up nor does it matter. The only thing for me that matters is that I get my grandson up for school at 7:00. I am usually up long before I have to wake him up but I don’t fix eggs, not too crazy about them. The last thing I am thinking about you is you being a hero, plus it is also funny that you mention war, soon you might just be right.

Corporate masters??? There are many professions out there that require having some kind of corporation, the health care field, (which I work in), teachers, auto makers, energy companies that keep your lights on during snow storms, need I go on. Where would society be without some of these corporations. That just goes to show the illusions you have with not going to work and having a job, and maybe too much fried grey matter in your brain. When people have families they need to keep food on the table, and pretty impossible if you’re not willing to go there and punch a time clock.

He is an unemployable 40 something looking for his place in the world. He doesn’t really know how it works, he is just trying to make it work for him at this point.

I have a plan for that. First of all the middle men banks and deed holders need to be eliminated. They are the ones who occupy a huge chunk of people’s paychecks and force people to settle for jobs which are beneath them and not good for the overall goal of liberation. Secondly the power companies need to be cut out of the equation. But in order to do that, we need education, and local manufacturing of products that produce electricity. Humans need to get together, using the power of the city council, establish city electrical utility grid with large wind turbines, solar panels, and invest in producing them on site, and train the youth to understand the technology. Third, we need to design and build homes within the http://www.earthship.org model. Local food production needs to occupy a person’s time…not going to work in an office, or at TAco Bell. It’s all about dedicating our wills to working on what we need to be, and not what people tell us to. My strategy is to create an ownership society, eliminate landlords and mortgage companies, drive the price of food down, create our own electrical grid, raise a citizen defense, rotate and share police powers, legalize marijuana, ban Chinese goods, and prove to the world we can survive and thrive on our own, without any need for the outside world. This is the way to eliminate WAR, and eliminate poverty…by educating and creating a society of geniuses, not dependent TV watching idiot slaves.

So what’s it going to be? You going to get out of bed in the morning and dedicate your energy towards tasks that lead to your liberation and health, or are you going to keep on trudging along as a slave to some company you don’t even understand nor care about?

I know this much, the people that I along with other nurses, aides, doctor’s etc. couldn’t survive without the care that we provide them. And in a few years I will have a nice retirement account to enjoy in my later years. What will you have Peter? If your parents end up going to a nursing home for car in their later years, where will you be? I’m a grown up and making my own way. I am proud of what I do for a living. And when the time comes for me to stop working and enjoy my golden years, I won’t have to worry about where my income is coming from, because I’ve earned it. More than I can say for you!

Oh, and I hope you never get sick or end up in a nursing home. Because with no income, me along with everyone else who works and pay taxes will be footing the bill for you.

Cute “plan”. I have a plan too. Much simpler as well. Kill all the bad and dumb people and only the good and smart ones remain. DONE! Our plans have two things in common. Neither of them are attainable and neither of us is going to lift a finger to follow through with those plans.

Well your “plan” illustrates the type of human you are. You may not think my plans aren’t being implemented, but they are. Every time someone is exposed to the ideas of self sufficiency, it’s a win. Nothing happens quickly. It’s a long sustained effort. I’ve been espousing these principles for years, since 1993. I decided there is no reason to not push forward 100%. I’m showing that our lives are in fact controlled by US, not someone else. You haven’t learned this yet. You’re too stupid and curmudgeon, and your anti-socialism beliefs won’t even let you work with others, only doing what you “Have to”, to get your paycheck. You’re the worst kind of slave. You hurt other people’s chances to become free, because you enable, and you speak out against people like myself who are working for the cause of freedom and liberation. UNcle Tom’s as they’ve come to be known as….or Stephen’s in Django Unchained. You’re a ni**er, and you oppress all the other ni***rs, rather than work with them to overtake the masters. The Jews had their version of that in the Ghettos as well. You’re obviously a nobody, or else you wouldn’t be on this website. So tell me Nobody…why so hostile to the concepts I espouse?

Now I understand you peter, you really can’t help yourself. LVS once told someone that I just talk to you long enough for you to hang yourself, or something like that. Actually he was wrong, I was talking to you to try to figure you out. I will no longer try to change your mind about anything since that will never happen. Since my son is autistic I completely understand where you are coming from, and I accept you and your opinions.

You seem to know. Explain why would HS tell this person who only wanted to surrender their dogs apparently because of an abusive situation that they would more than likely Euthanize because of the age?

Go F urself

@Philosophus…..PLEASE respond to Nichole Bench’s question(s). This is the second time she has asked something of you and I find it odd and very rude of you to not respond. So….chop, chop little mister and answer her pronto!!!!

Nichole Bench just wants to date me. I’m playing hard to get.

I’m sure as soon as she reads this, she will be heart broken or nauseated, not sure which. Please, I beg of you….let her down easy OK?

Does KIMT ever report on a Mason City or Iowa news. So far they have reported on Albert Lea, Austin Rochester and the Minnesota Sate legislation. I would watch KTTC if I wanted Minnesota news!

@Iowa Viking-KIMT mostly just reports everything in Minnesota and if they need filler they will say something about Mason City. The thing that really irritates me is they love to not have news on the weekends. It is just like they think the world stops on Sunday and they don’t have to report. We always end up watching 6 or 10 on the weekends to find out what is going on and what the weather will be. I guess their newspeople are to good to work Sunday’s. They are off more than they work.

People say this and they say that. Here’s what I know. Many of us came from broken circumstances, abusive homes, and we were operating from a disadvantage. We didn’t go to college, some not even high school, we were first rejected or didn’t fit in with the program being offered, but we found something special somewhere else…in a record album, in a book or comic, in an instrument, and for some drugs and alcohol. But does this make us any less a human? Does it make us any less worthy to express our thoughts, stand up and tell the world what we think, or how we feel? Does it make us ineligible to run for political office and shape the policy we are bound by?

Why should it?

Here’s what else I know: Authoritarianism is a disease…no different than bi-polar or schizophrenia, not cataloged in the DSM-V.

“Authoritarianism is a disease of the mind. It criminalizes the act of asking ‘why?’ It is the obedience-sickness that turns good people into perpetrators and victims of atrocities great and small.” –Cory Doctorow

Don’t you have to have a college degree to attend law school?

I’m lobbying for open bar testing. If you can pass the bar, you should be able to practice, degree or not. How you educate yourself is your business.

Doesn’t California have that for illegals?

@maybe-Old Philly would fit right in with that wouldn’t he?

Iowa doesn’t require you to go to law school to be a lawyer, but you do need to work under the supervision of a licensed attorney for a number of years before you take the bar exam. If I recall there are only 2 lawyers in Iowa who have done this, but it can be done.

I recently had help getting out of a abusive relationship. With this help, I got a new apartment, which didn’t permit animals. I have two older, big dogs, which I would have to give up. Thinking that the best place to surrender them would be to the Humane Society, I gave them a call. To my surprise, I was told that since they were older, they would more than likely be put down. For many years, I’ve been told that the Humane Society was a no kill shelter. Not too many people know that the Animal Shelter, that is in with the Humane Society (in the same building) is a kill shelter. How convenient. Needless to say, I didn’t take my dogs there and have made other arrangements.

I’ve heard the same thing. The North Iowa Humane Society claims a No Kill facility on ONE side but 5 steps to the south is A KILL Shelter. Doesn’t make any sense at all. What happens when some of those animals don’t get adopted how easy is that just to walk across the building to ‘The Kill Shelter Side’ and euthanize. I call bull sh!t.
Its sad to know just how many people don’t know this. Contact matt at NIT to do a little investigating

Can anyone tell me how the roads are in the county?

Has anyone else noticed this site has been taken over and has become the “Philosophus” chat room?

The world is shaken up, and is looking for new direction. I’m a natural leader with real ideas to take our region and nation forward.

With that said, here’s a novel idea for you Buzz: You’re entitled to comment on any story or write any thought you’d like, no one’s stopping you. You’re also entitled to respond to, or ignore whatever comment you’d like. You can engage or disengage…that’s the beauty of NIT and free speech. Yet you have no real thoughts of your own do you? You hinge and hang on my every word. Why would I relinquish such power?

I feel the people are more ripe than they ever have for positive meaningful changes that affect life and limb. Why would I let such a sour bully as you and LVS and the others to stop this spiritual and cultural revolution? If you have better ideas: PRESENT THEM!

Call it what you will, but pointing out the obvious such as your continual rants is not bullying. You play that song like some resort to playing the race card. Deep down I think you are probably a pretty decent guy, but take a look at what you post and the tangents you go off on. You gotta admit…..you do go off the reservation quite a bit. I still maintain, you dominate this site and as a result, people do get tired of your dribble. Remember, the freedom of speech works both ways, now get humpin on them dirty dishes you talked about earlier! 😉

Buzz, I have to admit, you’re a natural comedian. I haven’t laughed as much at anyone else’s “assessments” of my posts. I almost look forward to your punchlines. I hate though, when people try and eliminate my existence. It only seems like I post a lot, because the feed goes dead. If people would just ignore me (if they don’t like me) and went about their own comments and business, the feed would fill up, and you wouldn’t think of it being dominated by me so much. I say my 2 cents on things, then I move on. If a subject doesn’t interest me, I don’t bother with it. I’ve seen plenty of threads where people get in conversations with one another, and I don’t say a word. But if I have something to say about a subject or comment, I’m going to say it. Every novel has its protagonist and antagonist. It keeps life interesting. I have to admit, the antagonism has allowed me to better clarify my points. It just so happens that due to the weather, I’ve been cooped up more than normal. Actually, you’ll see my writing drop off for a bit, because I have to run into Mason City. Peace.

Ahhh making another Red Krill Oil run I assume. Watch the roads as they are slick in spots and I hope you’re driving a car with doors and fenders on too, especially in weather like this. I gotta go, the library is closing soon.

@Buzz-Red Krill Oil hasn’t helped him so far. Al it has done is drive him further over the edge. I think he has been into the whacky tobbaccy again or maybe even the stronger stuff.

@Philly-you have an overrated opinion of your intelligence and ability. It is a natural reaction of a mentally ill individual. Seek help while you still can. The HARLEY’s are coming.

When major wrongs have been done to you, your mind has no choice but to become acutely aware. Abuse and injustice are great motivators. At this point, the Red Pill has been swallowed, and there’s really no way I can get tucked back in. Cerebrus is born.

@Philly-Is that why we are all so abused and aware. After all of the times you have abused us, lied to us and mis-represented to us that you promised you were leaving and yet here you are? Is that why all of us are so aware and so abused? If Abuse and injustices are as bad as you say we would all be running around Clear Lake looking for you so we could get even. Instead, we really do not care about you or your opinion. A zero is still a naught with a hole in it and you fit the description to a “T”.

Get even? For what? Telling the truth? LVS you’re just stunned because you’ve never encountered a person like myself. You really don’t know what to do. Scared and bewildered people lash out. That’s what you’re doing: LASHING.

@Philly-whenever you get ready to tell the truth just let us know so we can all tune in. The one thing people who read this site will agree on is you are the biggest liar we have ever know. The only way we know you are lying is because your lips are moving and your fingers are typing. You are good for stress relief however. They say laughter is good for the soul. If so we are all saved from laughing at you.

LVS, you are going to have to make up your mind, is the biggest liar philly or iowa sucks?

#Maybe do you have shares in STATUSQUO or something? While it’s a steady Blue Chip, STATUSQUO has been shifting up and down in recent months. There’s also a stock on the Southern Index called REDNEX which has seen a steady decline in recent years. LVS is still losing his ass on that one, and is fighting to keep the price from dropping any lower.

I have known many leaders in my life. You sir are no leader.

Yet seeds of my wisdom are planted in hundreds if not thousands of people’s minds. You can have your opinion of me, it’s the long game that matters. Seeds take time. Big ships don’t turn around quickly.

Seeds of wisdom? Says who? Your high opinion of yourself is only overshadowed by your lack of understanding about how the world actually works.

you say hundreds or thousands? Is there that many people on NIT?

I’ve also heard: “Dogs that poop fast, don’t poop for long.” So, what’s your point?

Yes it has. Philly, or Peter whatever his name is has proven that he more than likely clinically insane. He is the reason I will not subscribe to this site. I have talked with other people and they have the same feeling. Why pay for Phillys b.s.

You should get her help then, a job.

It depends if your moms a MILF or not…lol

A well pondered thought leaves little to discuss. Very nicely done; I enjoyed the read. Welcome.

Wow– now we have double trouble– Enlightened has joined Philosophus– or are they just the same person under one name…..?????

There are so many people out there that once they hear something they like they are hooked, weither it is true or not. I am not saying that what philly is saying is not true, just saying people are easily brainwashed.

(Insert 43rd Presidency 2000-2008)

You are enlightened on one level (the religious level), but I wonder how far your enlightenment extends…

There are many levels to this game. I look forward to reading more of your thoughts on other issues.

Did you go to Berkley? I am all for saving energy but I think you might be going alittle too far.

I’m really not going too far #maybe, it’s all tied in together. The very first starting point begins with the simple choice of what one puts in their mouth. So much can change in the world from that decision alone. I have experimented for many years off and on with diet, and I have come to the conclusion the Vegan diet is the only acceptable diet to eat while visiting Planet Earth. In terms of climate change, environmental stewardship, animal rights, human health, and yes actually stopping war, the Vegan diet is second to none. I have finally come to my perfect and final conclusion on this issue pertaining to diet and agriculture. Try this small exercise. I know it can be hard for some people: Try and stop eating meat and dairy for one week, and eat no junk food, processed foods, or sugar. Don’t worry, you’ll survive. Tell me if you don’t feel something positive begin to emerge in you. I’ll even go as far to say, it may help you in your brain injury recovery. Take Red Krill Oil in the interim, when you first start out, so as not to rob your brain and heart of vital omegas, but in time, you’ll be able to stop even those. You won’t need ANY supplements. Try it.

For a short term diet that isn’t so bad but God gave us our teeth for grinding vegtables and for cutting meet. We need the proteins that meet supplys.

Don’t blame us because you choose to watch commercial TV. I haven’t watched it or cable in years. The only commercials I see last 5 seconds before I click to skip. I won’t sit through another commercial if I can help it.

then don’t talk about it DO IT show us !

I can do very little without the will of the people behind me. Incidentally, ironically, tragically, no sooner than I had just posted my response to you when I caught the NIT Top Stories Headlines about the explosion that occurred in Northwood. I mean if that isn’t the will of the universe, I don’t know what is. I stated that we need to protect ourselves from these dangerous chemical plants that have embedded themselves into our communities, and poof…one erupted. Now the entire town is being evacuated…my relatives included.

I’m here waiting for the people to activate me.

something sounds a little fishy here.

lol

” I’m here waiting for the people to activate me.” I doubt anybody wants you activated, committed maybe, but activated…..nahhh.

philly, it is good of you to open you’re mind on some things, but it still amazes me that you think the city people should just bow down and look to you as “Peter the Great” and just accept what you think is Gospel. You say we should bring in corperations to help with, Food, Renewable energy, and Textile and whatever else you think. However in the real world how does the City Attrack those industries? When they are working on landing a major player the first thing you said was ,Foul this cant happen. If you “lord Peter” are so wonderful, Why don’t you get off you’re computer, and you, go out and recruit these industries to Clear Lake, or start one up yourself!I would find that very interesting to see how far you would get,you seem to have all the answers. At the end of the day how ironic would it be if you even got in the door of one of these corperations to recruit them to Clear Lake the first Question they would ask you is ” What kind of Tax incentives Would the City Give us ?” Then you would have to talk to the City for help! opps, no wait how silly of me ,you are “Lord Peter” of course they will all bow down

First of all, I wouldn’t go to large established corporations…we don’t need them. Secondly, if a company said from the start “What kind of tax incentives can you give us”, I’d walk out the door, or hang up the phone. Thirdly, I would listen for them to say “What kind of quality of life can you deliver us if we were to move or start operations in your location, and transfer our families, and put them into your school systems.”

Then, I would ask them what the city could do to help facilitate their operations, short of giving them money. I would hold special skill recruitment meetings at city hall to act as job recruiters for the new companies pairing and introducing them to our wonderful, skilled workers. I would ask local landlords to reduce rents in our area for a period of time, and give them incentives to do so, to help the struggling population, get a handle on housing. I would make sure our streets and sidewalks were top notch. I would make sure our noise levels weren’t menacing and harassing to tourists, residents, the elderly, and school children. I would assess all dangerous chemical plants or combustible operations and declare them “unsafe zones” and work at mitigating the danger levels to protect our citizens.

I would make sure the company follows ethical guidelines for our environment and for the sustainable local model. Do they grow, handle or distribute organic, healthy food? Do they manufacture clean energy vehicles or fuel supplies (fuel cells, lithium ion batteries, solar panels, wind turbines, electric vehicles, geothermal) Do the treat their workers fairly? Do they make useful things to diminish importing of Chinese goods? Do they invest into the communities they settle in? Do they have any holdings or dealings in corrupt foreign nations like China?

I could go on…but these are a good start to let you know how I’d go about things. And btw, I am working on my own company right now. Yes, I’d love to get into building electric cars, or wind turbines (and I may down the road God Willing), but for now, I’m getting through a nasty illness, and coming to grips with a very turbulent domestic situation (not of my doing).

Peace, and hope to hear more from you… Your statements are reasonable and thought provoking.

Did you just say “God willing”?

God, fate, chance, circumstance, destiny, providence…

It would be nice if there were a God looking over, rewarding the righteous, but how would you explain the CEO of Exxon Oil invoking God to help him in his business, and a CEO of Iberdrola, a (large wind turbine company) praying for his success, while both of them compete for the support of the public?

If God rewards one, over the other, he would be forsaking someone. Both of their energy systems work within the physical laws of our universe; but it just so happens the wind turbines are cleaner and will be around indefinitely for the future, while the Oil technology will not. The American people have pledged allegiance to the flag, God, and OIL, despite its attribution to war, environmental pollution, and human disease.

I guess what I’m saying is: If everyone is praying to God, and has their trust in him, yet they are competing….whose prayers go answered?

I have the answer for you, I Don’t Know.

Very interesting read on marijuana and the NFL.

I can’t believe every school/college is closed within a 100 miles of Mason City, yet Mason City Schools and NIACC are still open. Think of the safety of the students. They have to come home in these conditions. Plus, NIACC is a commuter college. I wouldn’t want to be driving home with the forecast that is in store for us.

@Blizzard-Just what conditions are you whining about. There is nothing happening. They have already moved it back 12 hours and those people that delayed or cancelled are going to look pretty stupid if it doesn’t hit. And, even if it does hit this is North Iowa and it is part of winter. If you don’t like it mover south and get out of our state. You are trying to make sissy’s and cray baby’s out of our kids. I am willing to bet you are a liberal.

Listened to the whole album, “Frampton Comes Alive” at the gym tonight. Still a good record, I must say.

Here’s a good way to get your weight under control. For two days out of the week, eat 1/4 the calories you normally consume. These are called your fasting days. The rest of the week you eat the amount of calories that maintain your weight. It’s easy to do and allows for good fat loss over time.

I’m hitting the gym 5 days a week for 45 minute sessions each time. NO standing around though. You workout the entire time. No playing around with phones either. Then I do an hour in the steam room with cool down breaks. I notice that I don’t gain muscle as fast as I did in my early 20’s and the fat is harder to lose then it once was, but I feel like a million bucks once I’m done with a session.

It’s funny, the older guys at the gym who really push it seem to age the slowest. Just remember, diet is everything. Eat clean and make your own meals. I haven’t been to fast food joints in many years and rarely, if ever drink pop.
If you’ve got a sweet tooth, get a bullet blender and make yogurt smoothies with frozen blueberry’s and strawberry’s and use a little Yo-J to sweeten it up.

@Nick-do not fall for that crap. SUCKS is the biggest liar on here. he makes up story’s to suite him just to see what people will say. he is an admitted drug addict and drug pusher. How can you call that healthy?

Nick,
The Blue Zone is nothing but a bunch of BS. It is a nice concept but is like Wile E. Coyote planning on how to catch the Roadrunner. Neither have a clue on what they are doing.

Okay, I’ll admit, my mind has been opened on a few things.

I drove over to 14th Avenue South and yes, that road is terrible and needs updating. However, I do agree with Mr. Morris that the warehouse with the heavy truck traffic bears the primary responsibility. Plus, ignoring numerous citizen’s complaints in that area because of heavy crashing and banging in the warehouse at all hours of the night is unacceptable. If you want to keep score:

City: 1 point
Opposition: 2 points
——————————-
Next I read through #mediator’s explanations about the development project and reasons for secrecy. Plausible and smart. I agree with many of them. However, a city should not be thought of as a corporation, since there are human development factors to consider that cannot be measured in terms of share value dollars and cents. If they are successful and the area benefits, I will concede on this one as victory for the city, although I disagree with the steps taken to achieve it.

City: 3
Opposition: 1 (city is penalized for the secrecy)
————————–
Next we have quality of life issues being disturbed and ignored by the city. When citizens are feeling harassed in their homes, in their yards, or while walking about town, it’s the local government’s obligation to do something about it. The city has failed miserably on this. I will grant the city a point because some revenue is brought in as a result of motorcycle tourism, but I will grant the opposition 3 points because many loud illegal exhaust systems exist on trucks, cars and other non motorbike vehicles which have nothing to do with motorcycle tourism at all.

The other area of concern is in National and local Defense as expressed through local effort; the regions ability to care and sustain itself in the event of world, national, state meltdown. I believe in building up the basics of food, shelter, energy, medicine, and making our own products to the degree that we could continue as a region under our own volition, and survive quite comfortably even. I fault the city for not investing in food production facilities, local renewable energy options, electrical transportation grid, and encouraging local manufacturing startup to make and provide for everyday useful needed items, such as clothing, pots and pans, automobiles (electric), etc. I also feel that basic medical supplies should be manufactured here as well, and a local hospital built outside of the Mercy network. IN regards to local sustainable effort:

To be continued…

Thank you for your kind words. However, I don’t agree that the city acted like a corporation, rather that they were dealing with a corporation and had little choice. It was either keep quiet or let the opportunity fail.

I see letting this one go as being a bigger failure than having to remain silent for a year or so on the ultimate occupier of record.

Again, it comes down to the public trust. These officials know that they were elected and have to be reelected and I believe that they truly love their city and want to see it thrive. We may each have a different opinion on what it is to thrive, but I don’t think their motives are anything but the genuine belief that they are doing the right thing for the city as a whole.

We disagree on the fundamentals of building a good community. I believe citizens shouldn’t concern themselves with large, pie in the sky corporations that descend from above, and work on developing their own strengths, building up unique community identity. I would invest in our people by holding community get togethers, inventors and planners workshops, electrical, plumbing, construction symposiums, and agrarian food growing clubs as well. The theme of my belief is “build it up from within”.

Corporations come and go. If you rely on them, they will only disappoint you. Look to the longterm…not the short. Be willing to connect the dots, and realize that foreign wars are tied to community decisions made in even the smallest townships. Prepare and plan for the future, and for emergency disasters. I don’t see the city council doing any of those things, because quite frankly, I don’t believe they even understand these things. For these reasons, and others, I am strongly opposed to this present bunch and cannot see them capable of reform…or decision making in the direction I have mentioned. I may be wrong, but anyone who would disenfranchise a forward thinker such as myself and make an enemy out of them, cannot be trusted in the slightest. Only selfish elitist snobs do such things, or ignorant slobs. I contend they are a bit of both.

Under my regime, all people would prosper, and work in cooperation. This bunch doesn’t believe in that. They believe in top-down approach, and patriarchy. I also disagree with you immensely. Nelson Crabb and company absolutely think they are running this town like a corporation. They are ONLY concerned with finances and money, directing it to special interests, and they have ZERO people skills for dealing with everyday citizens. The list of denial of services is too lengthy to list here, but be assured, I spoke to hundreds of them in conversations. They are out there, but don’t have the proper outlets to showcase their long list of grievances in one condensed form. I am about the most they have ever had in a long time, and I’m so stretched thin, I just don’t possess the support network to galvanize the truth as should be done.

Suffice it to say we have diametrically opposed philosophies, but if they are willing to make concessions, I always am willing to forgive and forget, but that is only if I see them making decisions in the direction I believe they should, and they MUST issue a public apology to me, and agree to investigate my concerns, in a real and tangible way…with plans of action in place.

Tall order isn’t it? That’s why I can only act as an informer and agitator from the outside. Until the people shift in their thinking, to understand the wisdom of what I say…I will be relegated as an outcast…a role I’ve been inducted to play.

It sounds like you could use a community mediator.

I don’t disagree with your sustainable community ideas, but I don’t see why we can’t also have corporate economic development at the same time. Seems ideal, actually.

I would think we can have both also but there are topics that rub, and thus far have shut down communications. I’m going to pitch them to you and see what your take is.

1. A cultural phenomena has occurred that agitates and bothers many citizens. Certain sectors of American society have begun INCREASING the volume of their tailpipe exhaust systems by installing glass packs, muffler cut outs, and often times completely removing their mufflers and running straight pipes. When complaints are filed to the police, they are ignored and no action taken. When complaints were filed to the city council, they first acted interested, but then completely spun around in favor of the loud crowd, and declared the issue a “solution in search of a problem” (mayor Crabb’s words), despite HUNDREDS of noise complaints. The opposition contends that Mayor Crabb and the Council (along with their police cohorts) are favoring loud, illegal exhaust systems as a special interest favor to certain businesses, and also because they have been threatened by Biker’s groups to “withhold tourism” if any action is taken to enforce Iowa’s muffler law. The city also refuses to conduct a polling survey asking the people themselves how they feel about the issue.

I’ll stop with this one for now. Good luck.

First off, I’m sorry that you don’t feel you are being heard. There’s no doubt how frustrating that can be.

Second, I don’t think it’s a recent thing that people make their sporty vehicles louder. I can remember doing the same thing back in the late 70s and I don’t think we were the first ones there. For all I know, Ben Franklin could have invented a horse amplifier so that his horse would sound more powerful.

I think it is important to try to figure out how much of your upset is from the noise and how much is from your complaints going unresolved in your mind.

Have you taken the time to talk with anyone with loud sports vehicles to ask them why they want loud pipes? I have. I get responses that range from, “Because it’s fun!” to “Because I believe it helps me to be seen by cars, so that I’m not as much at risk.” Everyone has a blend of reasons for and against loud pipes.

Next, let’s talk about why you oppose them. I don’t want to assume things and put words in your mouth. What, exactly, bothers you about it?

From there, we can determine what steps to take going forward. Being a neutral is all about helping the parties involved find the solution, not finding it for them. But I can hopefully help shed light on paths not already explored.

So you’re learning “mediation” isn’t as easy you as thought it might be I gather? I can tell automatically off the bat, you’ve already taken a “pro-pipes” standpoint. I can detect you’re not neutral. If any parties detect this while trying to mediate between them, your job has failed. But I’ll give you another chance, while also answering some of your questions.

I have been over this issue from every possible angle. I’ve tried to see it from their perspective…I’ve tried to ignore it, I’ve tried to wear noise cancelling headphones….I’ve stayed inside and turned up the televison or music. NOTHING works. Why? Because the issue is real, and my points are valid.

Loud obnoxious, aggravating and ILLEGAL exhaust systems travel on our roadways early in the morning, late at night, and all points in between. NO one can lie to themselves and say that when a straight pipe Chopper, or Harley roars past them at full throttle, that they aren’t disturbed from what they were doing…be it a telephone conversation, talking to someone, trying to sleep with the window open, or enjoying the summer on your front porch. What they do is invasive, aggravating and did I mention for the hundredth time ILLEGAL?

It’s not that I should have to justify why I am bothered by this loud noise…it’s for YOU to acknowledge that YES IT EXISTS, and YES IT IS ILLEGAL. Refer to Iowa Code on Mufflers and Muffler Cut outs. I don’t give a shit about what the loud crowd tries to say…those volume levels are every definition of what the lawmakers were trying to protect us against when they drafted and enacted the law. The Harley Davidson crowd has been steadily trying to usurp those laws for decades and they’ve damn near achieved the state of the union they’ve always wanted…namely for them to be able to roar around the streets with no repercussions from the police. I have so many other issues I’m trying to deal with in my life, and being the front and center activist on this issue is so exhausting and dehumanizing. It’s ridiculous beyond any semblance of common sense and decency. There are at least 3 laws on the books at the city, state and Federal level which could be drawn upon to get this issue under control, and no one does a damn thing…because we are in the ERA OF THE REDNECK. And I know that may come across as name-calling, but it is a bona fide way to describe the cultural takeover of our streets and government by forces who want the landscape to be how they want it: 4×4 loud glass pack trucks, straight pipe motorcycles, and god knows what else these Duck Dynasty humans are drawn towards.

For the same reason the police don’t allow a rock band to play in someone’s front yard without a permit, Federal Muffler Laws were put in place: To protect the Common Peace. We used to call them “Disturbing the Peace Laws”. Loud exhaust systems disturb the peace. If you cannot understand that very basic concept of community planning and community harmony, then I’m afraid there’s not much I have to say to you.

I agree that it is an issue and that there are illegal exhaust systems out there. As far as being on one side or the other, I have a couple of things to say to that. First, I’m not mediating this as the other side isn’t here, I’m discussing it with you and have to, in essence, speak for the other side.
Second, I’m actually opposed to loud pipes and find them annoying personally.

But I guess I hid that pretty well.

I’m sorry that I don’t know more of your history as far as what you’ve done to engage the city. I haven’t been a member on here that long. I do recall the city looking into noise ordinances and that falling away. I assume that is something that occurred during the engagement you had with the city.

Thank you for your advice on mediation. I can certainly continue to learn more. One thing that was apparent in the training is that it is not unusual for each side to think you are taking the position of the other side. I will have to work on this point, though, as I said, I wasn’t really trying to mediate with only one side represented.

How did the citizens react to you and the city’s attempts to deal with the noise?

@Mediator-I told him to get up a petition from his neighbors and friends and if he go enough signatures they would have to take action on it. He doesn’t seem to want to do that. He would much rather keep on boring us on N.I.T. with his continuous raving about loud motorcycle pipes. I suspect he has pissed off two or three bikers and they took it on themselves to retaliate by reving up their engines just to piss him off. I know it has been talked about in the local bike shops. They talk about the crazy guy who lives in a basement raving about their bikes all the time. They are not going to stop and the more he rants the worse it will get.

From my conversations with the people the issue was roughly split 50/50. I stopped polling people after acquiring about 350 opinions. I was very fair and objective in my questioning and very courteous even if people said that loud pipes didn’t bother them. Many people said the noise bothered them, but they felt the “town needed the tourism”. I dispute that motorcycle tourism needs to hinge on some motorcyclists to make their bikes god-awful loud. That also does nothing to address the many loud glass packed trucks and many straight pipe trucks and cars that are around here…which have nothing to do with safety for motorcyclists, nor tourism for the town. Some people seem to equate relaxing of muffler laws with the notion of Clear Lake being “fun resort town”. I contend they can have just as much fun while still keeping their volume levels down. I also talked to many who mentioned their frustration with the loud bikes who drive around Church in the Park on Sunday Mornings…one of the pastors himself. Many people were scared of reprisals, because of the intimidating image of Bikers. Many people said they have called and complained to the city, and the police have done nothing to curb the problem.

As far as the city themselves DANGER WILL ROBINSON…DANGER! meaning…the ones who are supposed to be enforcing the laws and protecting the public peace, are in fact apologists for loud bikers, and even HAVE LOUD ILLEGAL BIKES THEMSELVES. The City Manager Scott Flory rides around on a very loud Harley Davidson. I’ve also heard Chief Peterson has a loud Motorcycle. Both of them frequent the Other Place (OP-A restaurant and bar), which is the main hangout for Bikers. There is a large Biker gathering called “Bike Night” on Wednesdays, and the Tiki Bar over by PM park also is a hangout for Bikers. There is a large lobby for loud bikes in this town. Councilman Jim Boehnke also is an apologist for loud bikers and protects the interest of the OP at all costs. Fire Departments cooperate on “Biker Runs” and the leader of the motorcycle club ABATE lives close to the downtown.

The city pretended as though they were interested in helping me when I first went up there to find out why the police weren’t doing anything about all the loud illegal exhaust systems. They even invited me into the city manager’s office with the Chief of Police present to discuss the noise ordinance the Chief had been working on. When the Council started the first reading, many of the council members seemed reasonable, and voiced their favor for enacting such an ordinance…with Jim Boehnke ALWAYS opposed. But then the loud bikers showed up at the public hearings…and stared at them and talked. People also showed up who were in favor of a noise ordinance as well…but the bikers won out. The council and the mayor did a complete 180 and ran with their tail between their legs. Total Cowards. Mike Callanan who was once reasonable capitulated…as did Mayor Crabb and Unsworth. DAna Brant said NOTHING the entire time. The only one who had any balls was Tony Nelson, who remained firm. Jim Boehnke, like the snake he is, saw an opening, and he motioned to “table the issue for a period of one year”. Ton Nelson was against that and was the lone voice of dissent. The council voted to table it at the Mayor’s urging 4-1. The crowd of loud bikers went away feeling satisfied.

From that moment the city became my political enemy. I realized later the Chief set the decibel level unreasonably low (60db) deliberately because it played right into the concerns and points of the opposition. I trusted the bill was in place and that he had done the appropriate research…but realized later how low that was. I had to learn as I went along on this issue, while also trying to work on my business. It’s been HELL.

I’m sincerely sorry for your upset and I’m glad I’ve been able to read your explanation. I’m not a citizen of the city so I don’t have much standing. Nor do I think it’s likely that I have a solution of which you haven’t already thought.

But I’ll float some ideas (since I’m not mediating):

Approach the city works department and see about posting some signs on major routes that say something to the effect of “Thank you for enjoying our city, please help us enjoy it with you by keeping noise reasonable and respectful”. This would apply not only to bikes, but people whooping it up, etc.

Put together the petition drive mentioned by another poster to readdress the tabled ordinance with an amendment to a reasonable decibel level. This would appear to be your side of the issue attempting to meet them in the middle on the issue as well as help residents be less frightened by the idea that mowing their yard might be breaking the law.

Hang out with some bikers so they get to know you. I don’t know a lot of them, but I’ve never actually met one that wasn’t a genuine person willing to respond with respect when they are given the same. If they can see that you are truly upset by the noise and not just trying to rain on their fun, maybe they’d try to keep it down around your location.

I know these are easier to write than to accomplish and there are probably dozens of more things that you can come up with to help the city see that these things matter to many citizens.

Sincerely, good luck. It’s no easy thing to have something annoying in your life and have people mock you for caring. Maybe by writing this all out here, some of the regular posters can begin to empathize a bit more and offer suggestions that help instead of hurt. But if not, then that’s on them and not on you.

Oh, and one more point I forgot to address. People really don’t like mandates. While it is the law and it is being broken, people prefer to look the other way for anything that is short term or considered to be without malice.

While you are working on solutions, can you envision some that don’t involve mandates, such as my posted sign of respect idea? I think these are much more likely to get the respect your cause deserves because it engages people in the process instead of mandating an action ‘from on-high’.

Food for thought!

The onus of responsibility on this issue lies first with the legislators if the State of Iowa, to realize a vagueness is being exploited in enforcement of Iowa Muffler Law 321.436 pertaining to “what constitutes a loud noise”. They have an obligation to amend the law to include either a specific decibel level and instructions for city governments to follow in checking this level, or to require Federally approved mufflers and fine and impound any violators who alter or remove their mufflers. Next the city bears responsibility…meaning the city council because they have the power to draft their own city codes and pick up slack left by the State. Thirdly responsibility lays with the police, starting with the Chief. The Chief has the ability to enforce the present muffler law regardless, and step up pressure by pulling over offenders and insuring compliance, even if the tickets are thrown out later in court (due to corrupt judges, bad prosecutors, or vague wordings of the law). Fourth the responsibility lies with the offenders themselves, to realize they are annoying and harassing people with their unusually loud exhaust systems. Fifth the issue lays with the people who are being offended (myself included) to conquer fear and apathy, and demand their police department, city and state government’s do something about the issue.

That’s the chain of responsibility in my view.

Actually switch 4 and 5 around. The people are responsible over the offenders. The offenders are the lowest in this scheme, because they are essentially like children who need to be brought into compliance. As women we cannot hold our breath trying to reason with a man who is about to rape us. WE cannot and should not be required to discuss with the man his sexual desires, nor provide him with alternatives to ejaculate, other than raping us. No. The man must be stopped from raping us, because he is about to commit a crime, or is committing a crime. This is the duty of the police and the legislators: TO STOP THE MAN FROM RAPING US. So, I reject your notion that I need to work with the Bikers because they are wrong to begin with. I will say though, as I’ve always said that I do hold a bit of sympathy for the loud pipes save lives argument, and have always said that on the highways Bikers do have an argument…however in a residential neighborhood or downtown around the square, they have NONE. They know this, and they are merely showing off and exhibition driving. They like attention, and that’s why they make their bikes loud. Some do it to deliberately piss people off.

@senator philly…….those HUNDREDS of complaints you talk about….just to let you know those are the voices in your head. “was it something that they said, or the voices in my head, calling Gloria”

Joke all you want. Your people have gone down the wrong path. Your society is ill-conceived, poorly designed. Pride and arrogance are all you’ve got. When that chemical spill is next to you next time, and your eyes and lungs are burning, you’ll have wondered if all your pride really meant anything in the end. IT doesn’t.

@Philly_I hate to burst your bubble again but, the manager of the Ag Chemical plant in Northwood has stated there is nothing dangerous in the warehouse. Look like there are a lot of Philly’s living there “alarmist” over nothing.

Needing to evacuate an entire town is hardly “nothing”. You sir, are an idiot….but most on here know this. These type of disasters can happen at a moment’s notice. It’s important to ‘design out’ these dangerous industries from our communities. Follow the Green Paradigm. “Follow the Green Brick Road”.

@Philly-as usual you missed the whole point. There was no reason to evacuate the town. Over reaction on their part. Nothing dangerous in the warehouse. I wonder when your mother is going to evacuate her basement and get rid of that diseased mentality that lives there.

LVS are you some kind of idiot or are you deliberately throwing out misinformation again? There were industrial agricultural chemicals in that warehouse, and were they to catch fire and burn, they could have caused scores of respiratory short term and long term ailments, including cancer. You try and sugar coat this society that you love so much, because basically you’re going down with it.

I heard on the radio that the manager of the warehouse said there wasn’t anything toxic in there.

You’re probably hearing the cover up story now. The initial reports said there were insecticides and herbicides, as well as sulfuric acid. Regardless, the point is an ENTIRE TOWN was evacuated, and nothing is to protect the people from something like this happening in the future or worse a fertilizer explosion. These industrial accidents have posed enough of a risk to our communities and we need to get rid of them, and ban them from being anywhere near residential areas.

Thank you. I chose the name mediator with purpose as I’m a trained ‘neutral’. I like to see as much as possible from all the available angles.

Sometimes I do have strong opinions but I recognize that everyone with strong opinions has a corresponding belief that they are doing and thinking the right things.

Helping both sides to see that they have that in common can open up real dialog instead of closing down to partisan shouting.

Old what is his name is going to protest. Big deal. It is nice to know people can exercise their rights. Many companies don’t was publicity before the big reveal as people tend to raise prices. That is why other cities have been successful at luring large businesses.

He is just shooting off his mouth again. Pay no intention to what he says he is going to do. His track record SUCKS.

The money funding the ‘forgivable loans’ was in large part from the local option sales tax. None of it was from property taxes. Some of it was from previous sales of county property hanging around as capital assets just waiting for the right project.

It does seem odd to offer incentives to build a factory and hire people, but since that’s the way the game is played, (and as Mayor Bookmeyer said, “It’s good to be in the game.”) it’s a point of pride that our city and county are able to swing the financial incentives without going into debt.

The financial impact to those less fortunate should be obvious, there will be more jobs, both directly from this location and secondary jobs due to the increased business going on (increased trucking/fuel opportunities). Also, Fortune 100 companies have a good track record of philanthropy to their communities, meaning we will likely see something along the lines of scholarships for our students in need.

But if there’s a downside to having this company come to our town, I haven’t seen it yet. Please, by all means, explain why it’s a bad thing.

You can start by divulging the name of the company. The city is appropriating the people’s money, not their own. Secrecy is not an option within such circumstances.

@Philly-I have been told the name of the company. All I will say is it is a major on line retailer.

ebay is not a fortune 100 company, to my knowledge.

I don’t see any point in speculating publicly. The whole idea was that they didn’t want to make it public due to specific concerns.

I’d hate to have the deal fold up because someone spilled the beans.

Why prae tell would a deal fold up because the community learns what might be coming into their city? And why would the city want construction to already have begun before revealing what it is?

Okay, I get they are excited, and they want to reveal it like a big Christmas present surprise, but really, this is not how things should be working. I’m sure good intentions are going around this…all around this.

But my governing philosophy is the people are to be kept informed at all times. This makes absolutely no sense why a company would threaten not to come if anyone knew what was coming. If they were to buy their own land, put up their own building and not rely on 3/4 a million dollars of forgivable loan and 15 year tax rebates, I’D STILL SAY the people have a right to look up the permit granted and learn what company is coming amongst their midst.

I’ll tell you right now…if this company deals in products or services I deem against my ethics…I will be protesting this. I’m against certain chemical companies, anything that can be dangerous and level a 1/4 square mile radius if it explodes, and many other potential companies that run against the ideals I’m trying to live by and promote. This better not be a peddle stop for China…because I’m going to be really pissed if it is.

Nope-not E-Bay. And, I am not saying. I think it is way to good an opportunity to take the chance of screwing it up. Old Philly doesn’t care because he has no intention of ever working anyway. But, I lot of other people still have some pride and want to earn a decent living.

If you think it’s inappropriate, you should take it up with the state ombudsman.https://www.legis.iowa.gov/Ombudsman/

What I don’t understand, if you think this is a point of contention, is why you weren’t at the public hearing in Clear Lake or at the Supervisor’s meeting. Twice, there was the opportunity to speak and nobody had any negative views expressed.

I went Monday to speak on this but became distracted and confused by the city street assessments. I thought I was wrong in the night it was being discussed…walked out after the streets discussion, then learned they had discussed it later in the proceedings. It wouldn’t have mattered though, other than to get on CL Tel for the people at home to consider, because the Council has already made up their minds on ALL OF THIS. Public Hearings don’t matter in the slightest unless the person speaking is someone the Council approves of. They don’t listen to points or reason, they look at who’s doing the speaking first, then possibly consider merits later.

Peter, If you knew anything about stock owned companies, you would know that there can be no announcement made util the deal is done. It is against F.T.C. rules that may scew the stock market in any way. I hope that clears things up for everyone. The companies I have worked for send us the press release the same time they send it to the media and the market, those are the rules with any stock company.

If a company was paying their own way, perhaps that would apply…however they are not. The city and county is offering them well over 2 million dollars and forgivable taxes for 15 years. There is nothing private about this. You blur the line between the public and private role. The public role is an obligation and accountability to the people. You like many others seem to want to forsake that with a “gimme”. Trust in city officials is not something any of us should be giving to that degree. Transparency and openness need to be the bedrock philosophies on which to operate. Only the victors get to tell history, but for those of us who understand alternative definitions of successful community building, building up a community from within and investing in our own people is worth the 2 million dollars. City as Corporation is and always has been a bad approach.

wow, prosperity ! what do you call this, I don’t care how much money the company has it is all about jobs!! the whole area prospers, plus who knows how many companies might follow them. In your campaign you critized city leaders for not doing anything with industrial park. In fact the mayor said this has been in the works for over 5 months, so while you were out running your mouth off about nothing being done guess what there was something happening. Like always you didn’t know what the h… you were talking about. Go away from here philly, and take your crazy beliefs with you

Transparency and honesty: things the city knows nothing about. That paternal “Father knows Best” reasoning may have worked in the fifties, but it isn’t welcome anymore. We want an updating. Nelson Crabb isn’t my daddy.

philly,if you have that much hate in you’re heart, why don’t you just move away and leave the people in Clear Lake alone. This Community was here long before you were and will be here long after you. We are just fine.

No, that’s too easy for you. There’s posterity to consider.

Stop the presses. Brent Willett just now on KIMT announces that Cerro Gordo County Supervisors are giving this new ?MYSTERY COMPANY? a forgivable $659,000 loan IN ADDITION to tax breaks. A FORTUNE 100 company needs almost 3/4 a million dollars in loans? What kind of robbery is this? I could sure use $659,000 given to me for my guitar making business, and I’ll bet I could manage to hire 164 people too. That’s some big money and one can do a lot with that…even jumpstart a business. This is all bullshit, and these “men” running your cities and counties are some of the most inept, corrupt, and opaque city officials a citizen can be plagued with…all while smiling at you and telling you how great everything is…with KIMT backing them up. TOTAL BULLSHIT. I could keep swearing all night long at this…it’s so unfair on so many levels.

CERRO GORDO COUNTY AND CLEAR LAKE IOWA: KEEPING THE RICH RICH, AND THE POOR POOR. F**&in robbers and class protectors.

I think for every million dollar corporate handout the city gives, they ought to be required to help smaller businesses also. The two should go hand in hand. Where are our State Legislators? This is there job to make sure small corrupt cities like Mason City and Clear Lake don’t give these handouts like this without providing equal support for the struggling poor. These people are maggots. I cannot muster any other words. Grubby little maggots.

There were multiple letters of support from small business owners. There were representatives from the Chamber of Commerce in attendance clapping as the decision was finalized. Who services big businesses? Smaller ones. Who will get more local business if there are more jobs? Small business owners.

You see, it’s not a zero sum game where there is only one winner when economic development is in play. That’s why communities focus so much on development. A wise man said to me the other night that a rising tide raises all boats. I don’t think it matters that much that we don’t know the name of the tide as long as they uphold their bargains. The incentives programs are actually tools to help see that they do just that, as they would be on the hook for those millions should they decide to not deliver as promised.

Ok, the “rising tides” metaphor is a good one, and I agree with that generally. But here’s something to consider: A lot of these companies come and go depending on fads and trends. How can you be sure all the money and incentives you provided aren’t going to the wind in 5 years if the company pulls up and leaves or falls on hard times and has to shut its doors? If that were to happen, all those incentives the city provided would essentially be non-returnable losses. Is there insurance covering this deal?

That’s what the incentives do, they help keep the company from defaulting because then they are legally obligated to repay the loans. In five year, like you mentioned, they’d have to repay 1/2 of what was put up. I’m not part of the bargaining team to know whether that was backed by some sort of default insurance, so I can’t answer that part. Seems likely.

Earlier you asked why would the city want to keep it secret. It’s not the city, it’s the company. If you aren’t aware, some corporations are in stiff competition and have shareholders demanding returns. It might be as simple as they don’t want to announce the expansion until it’s ready to go because of stock market forces and positioning. If the news gets out too early and share prices shift, it might make it less viable under the new conditions. Competitors might think they have a comfortable position because they think the company doesn’t have enough warehousing to carry out a strategy that would harm their market share, so keeping the shift secret might keep their competitors from jumping on the same market opportunities. Basically, there are any number of reasons to delay public knowledge of what is done by a private company. That the city/county/economic development people have agreed to keep their name out of it in order to proceed is just good sense. After all, they didn’t have to give a name at all since they are using a development corporation to do the actual purchase/construction. Then that company could have sold their new warehouse to whomever they desired. Instead, the company was upfront with the people who were elected to make the decisions. If you don’t trust the officials, vote them out, but they have the right and duty to do this and I think they are doing a great job.

Those are plausible and intelligent insights, and what you have written has expanded my comprehension of this topic. I will respond that whatever the reasons for the company’s required secrecy, the explanations given are in the interest of the company and its shareholders. The city of Clear Lake has its shareholders to be accountable to also. And I would add that for people who have lived many generations in a locale, raised kids, went to school, purchased property, run businesses…its much more difficult to “sell your shares” if you don’t agree with a decision your “Board of Directors” has made…and for this reason, I would NOT treat a town like a corporation, as seemingly similar they are in many regards.

Here’s the secret these maggots don’t want the poor to know about: Wealth has a starting point. All wealth starts somewhere. The rich control the starting and access points to wealth. They force the poor through their channels. This bolsters their air of legitimacy. They monopolize the feeble government by scaffolding around it. Resources are the access point to wealth. Men come and go, but the infrastructure remains. Men Hover Around the Command waiting to be told what to do. I’m too disgusted to go on…

You know what towns like Mason City and Clear Lake need? They need a good protest. A real strong one with an Occupy Movement. It’s far too comfortable for these guys to steam roll over people as they push their hidden agendas. They rely on the good manners of everyone. I’d like to see a group large enough to shut down functions of city hall like they are doing in Ukraine.

The TV is nothing but a pacifier…a placation device…a mesmerizer. Real life is found in the streets.

I realize you were probably wound up when you wrote this, but I’m curious just what hidden agenda you think is being wielded and needs to be taken out by force?

I’d really like something specific as I’m apparently way behind the curve in understanding the hidden agendas in our communities.

It’s almost like they don’t exist!

This just in: 51% of Minnesota residents feel medical marijuana should be legalized. Iowa’s response? Not just yet.

So you say 51% of minnesotians want to legalize pot? Probably the same 51% that want Minnesota to have a professional football team.

It’s nearly impossible to get 51% to agree on anything. The tide is turning. The watershed has begun. No turning back now.

It’s important to take names now, so future generations can kick some ass later on down the road. Future generations will not take kindly to those who ruined the lives of good people over this.

Damn Philly-It said 51% of the people polled. Not 51% of the people in Minnesota. Besides the polling was all in North Minneapolis.

I know I may catch flack from other legalization proponents on this, but I’d be willing to accept a penalty multiplier if someone were to commit a non misdemeanor crime while under the influence of marijuana…provided it is applied to alcohol and any other substance, such as pharmaceuticals, legally prescribed or not. I say this to provide society extra protections and assurances against their falsely held beliefs that marijuana causes crime. I hold that most, but not all crime associated with marijuana use is incidental, or a result of the prohibition itself. So in other words, if you go knock off a liquor store, and they find marijuana, alcohol, or any other drug (that causes intoxication or alteration) in your blood…you’d get an intensifier added to your punishment. This is a compromise on an experimental basis only, and if evidence comes out when marijuana is legalized that presence in the bloodstream has no bearing on criminality, then I would move to strike it from the books. I’m willing to compromise with people leery of legalization…at least until more information presents itself.

philly I just noticed your comment about the city council meeting last night. Sounds like spilled milk to me. I too was at the meeting as a clear lake resident why cant you ever find any good in clear lake? one of the best budgets in the state if not the country, the offcials are pursuing and landing a fortune 100 company, which would be the biggest thing in the history of this town. Many, Many positive people are working very hard to make this happen. But not philly. As far as the assessment, those people were not steamed rolled over, in fact I thought the engineer explained everything quite well. I thought I heard someone say you were going to leave town

I’m actually embarrassed because I didn’t realize they were going to be discussing the Fortune 100 company after the Street Assessments, and I got up with the rest who left at that point in the meeting. My intention at the start was to go speak about the Economic Development, not the streets. Mr. Morris, and Ms. Luan were both supporters of the opposition candidate last fall with 2 yard signs each in their yards. I became concerned they had become targets by the dreaded Scott Flory Attack Machine, and thus followed them out into the hall for further words. I didn’t even realize they were being assessed or were going to show up.

I believe I made my point about transparency on a former comment this morning. Now that you’ve mentioned a few things, which I also wanted to address, I’ll expand a bit…

Yes, the City of Clear Lake has apparently one of the tightest budgets in the State of Iowa, and owe the least debt, in not only the State, but also possibly the Country (Scott Flory’s assessment). For the most part, I would say that is a good thing. However, being a budget wonk at the possible expense of meaningful steps forward for the city, means very little in the long run. Saying NO to everything, while still gathering in more taxes (or income) will build your bank, but a balance must be maintained between good investments on tangible goods and services, which can improve quality of life, versus having a large surplus at the end of the day (and your life). Misers have been known to die with huge fortunes in the bank, but also have lived like bag ladies, and denied even their own children life saving operations because of their stinge (see Guinness Book of World Records for Misers).

I also don’t want to convey that Mr. Flory and the Council shouldn’t be commended for their budgeting. It’s nice to clear up debts and not owe anyone. I haven’t felt that way in a while, but I have known on some occasions what clearing up a debt feels like. They should feel proud for that.

Clear Lake is adequate by default, but I certainly wouldn’t call it a “nice place to live”. When I take off by foot or by car looking for something interesting to do outside of the internet and the house, I can’t find it. I mean, literally, NOTHING interests me. I end up at the grocery, library and then back home. This town literally has no destination (other than a pub) for a 40 year old man to keep him interested and look forward to going. I don’t go to pubs often btw, maybe once every 6 months for a tasty microbrew.

The people have a right to know what the City Council is planning on subsidizing. I myself wouldn’t want a weapons manufacturer, or a nasty chemical plant down the street from my house, and I certainly wouldn’t want a distributor of Chinese Crap. But the way the City Council has this going, the people won’t be able to find out, until well after construction has started. This is just cock-a-mamey bull. Personally, I am coming to loathe Nelson Crabb, and his “ruling” style. He’s one of the worst patriarchal, condescending, oligarchs in the area. He’s not a nice kindly mayor at all. He squashes conversation, quickly moves things on to vote, and squashes dissent. He has a very stern demeanor, but has no real substance behind him. It’s his way, or the highway. Now, he is the figurehead, but he represents the rest of those oligarchs who are steam rolling in their plans.

I disagree with their approach at most every level. I believe in sharing, listening, working with people to come to solutions, and they believe in (hate to use this term again) steamrolling over the people to implement their plans. Everything is pre-determined ahead of time, and those Public Hearings are merely formalities. It’s all been decided already.

900 some people voted for it that way though. 4000 stayed home. Not much I can do, but what I can point out is they don’t really represent a true consensus of the people, because until the people have had a chance to really register their views, it’s still only the ruling majority class in Clear Lake Politics who continues to run the show. I have suggestions for them, but they will never implement them: Send out Official Letterhead mailings asking citizens their opinions. Bulk mailings are relatively easy to do, and the city can learn a lot from the returned questionnaires. That’s the way I’d be running the show if I were on the Council or the Mayor.

@Philly-It sound like Clear Lake has been taking lessons from Mason City. Are you sure your mayor isn’t drunkmeyer in disguise?

Far from it LVS, he is a good man. Nelson Crabb was a school teacher and then Principal, he was firm but a good, fair guy.

Then he must have been the kind of teacher or principal whom a student would try and explain they were being bullied on, and Nelson Crabb wouldn’t do anything to intervene because he was afraid of the bullying kid’s bigger bullying parents.

Lets eat Grandma…

Commas save lives.

I feel proud that I’ve helped raise the bar on the comments here on NIT. Prior to my arrival, I noticed much of the comments were ignorant, misspelled snippets of hate attacks. At least now, people are using their minds and writing their thoughts more intelligently. There’s always room for humor, and I laugh at the funny ones too, but overall the spirit of NIT has elevated.

Now with that said, I want to present you all with a challenge for the next few months:

I’m challenging all of you to not break the law in any way. As I’ve said in my writings, breaking the law FEEDS INTO the power of law enforcement.

The Criminal Justice System, including the jails and prisons along with the operators and contractors who build them, rely on your transgressions to keep them in power. Your own personal power is found not in breaking the laws to see what you can get away with, but in AVOIDING the law completely by not giving them any power over your lives.

Call this the NO COP CHALLENGE. I want real numbers here. No arrests for anything other than minor traffic violations, and preferably not even for those either. I want to completely dismantle the law enforcement sector by proving we DON’T NEED THEIR SERVICES as much as they tell us we do.

Do you think you can participate?

Did you realize that even if you have no intention of ever leaving a life of crime, that even if you put your criminal behavior on hiatus (hold) for a while it would cause the police to begin to diminish in power? That your constant infractions serve only to bolster the power of the police? Whether it be burglary, or intent to deliver, or theft from a store?

JOIN THIS MOVEMENT
STOP BREAKING THE LAW FOR 2 MONTHS
REDUCE THE NUMBER OF ARRESTS
DIMINISH THE POWER OF LAW ENFORCEMENT OVER YOUR LIVES

You can do this. Take Control.

I think you might be on your own here, honestly officer some guy on the internet told me to do it.

#maybe, I want to help you develop your expository writing skills. Re-write what you wrote to help the reader understand your intention clearer. What you wrote takes on the voice of the supposed “criminal”. So any statements should be put in quotes.

Your first statement is declarative and should end with a period: I think you might be on your own here.

Then you take on the “voice”, so you should place the following sentence in quotes:

“Honestly officer, some guy on the internet told me to do it.”

However now we are faced with a nonsensical statement that confuses the reader as to your meaning. So we must guess your intentions:

“Honestly officer, some guy on the internet told me to stop empowering you, so I took his advice and stopped breaking the law. This is why you no longer have a reason to search my vehicle, or arrest me.”

But in reality, when a person no longer breaks the law, they are removed from needing to speak to the officer at all. I still detect that you write from a perspective of continued obedience and subjugation to those who consider themselves “authorities”. I believe I can help you with that #maybe. It’s going to take time though.

Your welcome.

And I even made a mistake as to how it truly should be written: I should have used a colon and a semi-colon. Here’s the corrected version of what I think you intended to say, but didn’t write correctly:

I think you might be on your own here: “Honestly officer, some guy on the internet told me to stop empowering you. I took his advice and stopped breaking the law; you no longer have a reason to search my vehicle, or arrest me.”

Now if you want to practice writing your intended meaning, please do so. Otherwise, just absorb the lesson for the future. 🙂

@Philly-If you are going to coach “maybe” then you should do it properly. “understand your intention clearer” should read “more clearly” Now, put aside your desire to make him look foolish and go put on clean panties. It is a damn blog, so get off the B.S.

I am having second thoughts on my last rewrite as it really contains three distinct sentences that should each end with a period or be continued as one with commas. I tried to minimalize but made it perhaps too terse.

I think you might be on your own here: “Honestly officer, some guy on the internet told me to stop empowering you, so I took his advice and stopped breaking the law. Now you no longer have a reason to search my vehicle, or arrest me.”

I think I like this one the best. Also I checked into the clearer / more clearly debate. It’s not a settled verdict.

(from the link)
“Where was this school that said clearer is not a word? Google Ngrams seems to show “clearer” has been more common than “more clear” since the 17th century. Not only is “clearer” listed in every dictionary I own as a comparative form of “clear”, but great writers have used it down the ages. Here’s George Bernard Shaw for you: “Nothing in the score is clearer than that Don Juan is discomfited, confused, and at a loss..” Good enough for Shaw, good enough for me.

Shaw was often quite deliberate in his attempts to go against the rules of English, for example in dropping apostrophes from most uses. While I agree with this example, in general he isn’t one we can turn to for argument.”
(end of link citation)

@Philly-You are so sensitive, misguided, but sensitive.

After I wrote that I read it and thought, I should make it bold and put itallics there but then I figured it would drive you crazy so I decided against it. I never told anybody that I am a perfect writer, I know what I want to say and I say it, it may not be spelled correctly or have the proper punctuation but it says what I feel. Thank you for trying to correct me though.

LVS: Yes I am sensitive, just like this entire ecosystem we live in.

Maybe: In this instance, it’s not even the grammar and punctuation that is the problem, it is the intended exposition; the meaning. I couldn’t understand what you were trying to say. Only I did draw from context and extrapolated the meaning, which I then rewrote. So was I correct? Was this the idea you were trying to convey? I’d still you to have another go at writing what your thought was at that particular moment. Also yes, making things bold, could be a modern acceptable variation to quotes, but I’d still have gone with quotes to be sure.

Fine, just so you can understand me I will try to do alittle better.

@Philly-well you have finally come up with an idea I can support. I sure hope your challenge works. (I don’t think it will, but hope it does). At least through the summer so all the meth heads and pot heads quit stealing everything that isn’t nailed down. Hell, who knows, possibly they will even stop the “ILLEGAL” noise by those damn noisy bikers this summer.

@Philly-You give yourself way to much credit. You have nothing to do with how anyone writes on here. Most people read your post just to see what crazy comments you will come up with.

You have elevated nothing except your ego.

There just doesn’t seem to be much I agree with in terms of authority and judgement in this world. The Olympic Ice Dancing Couples Competition is no exception. I watched the routines and I completely disagree with the judges verdicts.

The best routine of the night in my view was the Russian couple with the Black Swan Routine, and a close second was the French couple. The third best was the other Russian team who performed “Madness”. Their performances were artistically/visually/technically stunning.

JUDGE PHILOSOPHUS AWARDS:

GOLD: Russia: ILINYKH/KATSALAPOV
SILVER: France: PECHALAT/BOURZAT
BRONZE: Russia: BOBROVA/SOLOVIEV

Obviously the Olympics were rigged on levels pre-designed behind the scenes to trade licks between Russian/American relations. Putin basically gave the medal to the Americans against his own countrymen for political reasons.

Really sad.

It is the final score, not how good they skated. If you had noticed they said for the Russians it would take them 110 points to be in first, then the French had to make 112 points to be in first and the Americans 112.50 to be in first and they scored 116 points so take your medals and sit and spin, I think the judges got it right. You just have to always disagree with someone.

Forget about the cumulative scores. I’m talking about the performances that happened tonight. They scored the Americans and Canadians outrageously high, and their routines sucked compared to the ones I mentioned. Just admit it. That Black Swan routine was friggin awesome. Sit and Spin patriot.

Any time you have judges making decisions…. ice skating, gymnastics, and etc. it really takes away from what the outcomes should be many times. That is why if I watch those activities I do so to enjoy watching world class athletes do their thing and don’t really care about their score or who wins.

I thought the Russians was pretty good as was the americans but if the Russians total score was way behind the americans, the Russians could have scored the highest score ever and the americans scored a medium score but it all comes down to the final score. To tell the truth I thought the American brother and sister teams routine was a lot better than the rest and they took 9th.

Dude, I totally agree, and said the same thing last night to the people around me. I couldn’t believe Shibutani/Shibutani didn’t score high yesterday in the Short Dance Routine. They were in perfect synchronicity.

So you agree then that the people doing the judging are making very big mistakes in their judging. Why is it such a stretch for you to believe corruption is at play? I totally believe more things are fixed than we know of. I think they should all perform, be given a preliminary first impression score, then the judges analyze all the routines on video, and adjust their points accordingly. What I’ve noticed is those in the beginning tend to get underscored, so the judges can build up suspense in the following performances.

I think we mostly agree on this Maybe…which is uniquely a first for me. Should we smoke? JUST kidding. I wouldn’t want to give that guy who sits at the far left of the table with the 8 O’ clock shadow the wrong idea (insider joke).

You seem to be the one saying conspiracy. The judges have a lot to look at, their arms and feet and can slow everything down to see how close they are. Yes I did like the brother and sister team but apparently their other scores were not high enough to put them in the top. I would have scored them very high tonight but if they made even 1 little mistake in their short program that would lower their score and put them right where it did. From what I saw with the americans that won, they did a perfect routine and that’s why the judges gave them a high score. I will not take away from them all the time they practiced because I thought the judges were not fair.

Wow, I sold one pair of sneakers on EBAY for so much money that I was able to buy 3 pairs of cool Nikes and 1 pair of Fila’s and then enough left over to blow 50 bucks on cool shoe laces. Check out this shoelace site. I love these laces.

Really adds details to your cool shoes and a good clean website. Also adds new life to your existing shoes. Be sure to remove your old laces and measure them to get just the right length you’d like.

http://www.laceduplaces.com/

I also want to thank the one and only Levy, that’s Troy Levenhagen owner of the Suzy Q for letting Matt offer such great deals on Subscriptions. Please note that you can buy a $20 gift certificate for $10 on NIT for the Suzy Q. Great deal Troy! And Troy knows how to eat, used to be a big weightlifter.

I thought you said you didn’t live in iowa?

So now we see how Scott Flory and Clear Lake politics really works. At the public hearing I saw a couple residents who had been assessed by the city for street work. Their neighborhood had many political yard signs supporting the blue opposition candidate at-large this past political season. They tried to speak but were steam rolled over by the Mayor and his political machine. Mr. Morris’s point was very good: Why should he pay for assessments to damaged streets when the large and loud heavy trucks that go in and out of the warehouse across the street from him at all hours of the night are the ones causing the damage? No discussion on the issue and the Council quickly voted to steam roll forward with their plan.

It didn’t occur to me that the city would be assessing people who voted against them as punishment. Now I’m going to be checking the voting rolls to compare it with the current assessments to see if I find more instances of blue-signed streets being hit up.

Dirty politics, but I guess I shouldn’t have expected any less.

Whenever I post on this site, my comments are being deleted. Is it because I am not a subscriber. I WILL NOT subscribe to NIT as long as P.L. is allowed to post on this site under whatever alias he is using this week. Clean it up Matt and get him off here.

Hilarious. make the “bad” man go away!

@Philly-I really hope that doesn’t happen. Who would Maybe and I spar with. It would ruin the fun of it all.

Yeah, what kind of elitist cry baby says something like that? ON your FB page, sure you can kick out whomever you like, but on NIT you want to pick and choose the comments? That’s just precious.

Nope Philli, I’m not an elitist by any means. But you are so full of nonsense. I just get sick and tired of reading your posts so much that I rarely even bother to check this site anymore. Basically….shouldn’t you be out on a ledge somewhere????? Get a life.

You’re just sore because I actually do things that are good for the world, and you want to keep things continuously messy so you can continue being a curmudgeon. You don’t want the spell lifted.

@Philly-It looks like you have another super fan in Anonymous. Oh well, it is difficult when you have so many.

Do you mo mo’s really think Wally World is the only retailer selling foreign made goods? Get serious you mo mo’s.

Do you mo mo’s really think Wally World is only selling foreign made goods? Get serious you mo mo’s.

Don’t you find it ODD that in the Globe article Thursday–regarding the still to be committed industry– suppose to be a big secret, not suppose to be saying anything–but yet Jeff Heinz from the Globe just happens to photo the three of them standing out on the proposed site?
Come on now, they had a ‘press release’ or just wanted to make themselves look good.
Are they per chance jeopardizing the agreement for secrecy? For ego’s sake?

Just another example on how the good old boys play their games, I’d say.

I’ve never driven not high in 23 years. No accidents or tickets. However inexperienced newbies should not be driving in my opinion. For experienced users high driving is not drunk driving.

Corporate media is just tearing down pot to make booze shine brighter. I don’t see people wanting to make booze illegal over driving. More hypocrisy. Next, it’ll be about the children.

@SUCKS-It is hard to drive when you don’t have a license or any money to buy a car that runs. That is what happens when you spend your money on drugs. Gone in a puff of smoke.

I thought some might find this interesting. Go to http://www.nbcnews.com, then to the Health section then look for the story; Pot Fuels Surge in Drugged Driving Deaths. The story goes on the say”

“If the current trends continue, non-alcohol drugs, such as marijuana, will overtake alcohol in traffic fatalities around 2020.”

“As medical marijuana sales expanded into 20 states, legal weed was detected in the bodies of dead drivers three times more often during 2010 when compared to those who died behind the wheel in 1999, according to a new study from Columbia University published in the American Journal of Epidemiology.”

Of course the pot heads will find fault with the story, I’m just passing on what I found.

@Buzz-and there was a big article on NBC and YaHoo about two weeks ago about all of the robbery’s at the pot shops in Colorado. Every one of the 325 retail out lets have been robbed at least once an some of them two or three times. Drugs bring in criminals plane and simple and it takes a real simpleton not to admit it.

Let us all know when those numbers become even 1% of the total numbers of people killed because alcohol was in the blood of the driver.

@Philly-there was a report today on CBS that the incidents of pot being involved in other than alcohol related accidents has risen fro 3% to 23% in just five years and by 2020 it will surpass alcohol related accidents. Now lets see, alcohol = 40%, pot = 23%. A lot more than 1% isn’t it?

Congratulations. Aside from stopping in there once to buy a spoon, I have been Wal Mart free for about a year. Wal Mart is a distributor for Communist China. They ought to be forced to change that star to a RED STAR. And screw all those white trash rednecks who support that place. They are the same bozos who vote against their own interests and supported George Dubya Bush into his wars. White trash rednecks are what destroyed this country…no one else.

If you stop shopping at Walmart china could care less but eventually look how many people that work there in your neighborhood that would be out of a job.

Really #maybe….that’s your response for the wholesale sellout of American jobs to Communist China? You’re worried about 50-100 jobs of Wal Mart employees being lost?

Here’s what would end up happening if Wal Mart were to close down. Those Wal Mart employees would end up working at new manufacturing jobs which would spring up, and about 10,000 people would end up joining them in Cerro Gordo County alone to start manufacturing again. You have no clue about the damage that has been done since companies were forced to compete with Wal Mart and start importing Chinese crap also. You also have no clue about the connection to increased welfare as a result of the decision to export jobs overseas and import Chinese crap.

I guess that doesn’t surprise me, you don’t support our troops so you don’t support American workers, you use a foreign nation as an excuse.

I support the correct ideology and philosophy to follow in all regions of the world. I am not bound by any one country. When a people of one region are behaving as they should be, I will say so and commend them. When they are behaving incorrectly, I will also say so and reprimand. You unfortunately have been caught up in the incorrect behaviors, and so you are feeling my reprimand. The troops who followed George W. Bush into his foolish, ignorant plan receive little support from me…this is true. Humans need to learn, and fawning and adorning incorrect behavior does nothing to prevent the next incorrect application of Military Force from being used. I am a student of WW2 and I am watching the Military Channel as I write this. I study the German Nazi machine to learn from it. The authoritative political mass control of human beings fascinates me, but also horrifies me at the same time.

It always seems to come back to the same thing, well since you know more than everybody in the world then you know why we were there but since I call BS on that we will always disagree.

So you are learning from the Nazi’s, good to know. I’ve studied war from the first recorded to the present and 1 thing is ALWAYS different, the politics.

#maybe, you don’t even know what you’re disagreeing with anymore…you’re just disagreeing.

I am disagreeing with you because you are using the Nazi’s, it seems as an inspiration. I hope I am wrong.

Brain damage kicking in again? If I was buying your schpeel, I may go a bit easier on you…but I’m not. Your attempts at propaganda and manipulation are feeble to me, but may confuse others.

I think the rise and fall of the 3rd Reich covers more than one spectrum of thought and feeling. It runs the entire gamut of human emotion. As medical science learned from some of the experiments, any student of political science would be a fool to not take in its lessons.

I’m of the belief that if people study the phenomena, they will be able to avoid it and detect it should it arise again.

But Maybe, you’re really annoying to me that I have to take time away from the program to explain to your feeble mind. Especially because I know your’re deceptive. I’m not really buying your brain damage routine any longer.

bummer dude, I guess the gig is up huh

Yes, I think so. If you want to discuss with me, please do it in a way that doesn’t insult my intelligence or attempt to subterfuge or subvert me.

Why did you stop shopping at Wally World?

Any updates on the domestic situation where the rat terrier was supposedly thrown out? Maybe it was an empty threat. These days, who knows. WAS Diamond found last night? Updates?

I have a bone to pick. Those rotten sons a bitching cops go and arrest a person that I will not mention at this juncture in time(at a fricken funeral). You cheesy low-life scumbags. How do you live with yourselves?? I could go on but it seems to me it wouldn’t matter. You can’t even allow a person to mourne and deal with the shit later? All over some petty stuff. Call in Det Frank Stearns or the rest of the cream of the crop. That’s some sad-ass bullshit.

I was arrested in the hospital room after my girlfriend just gave birth to our baby for a traffic offense warrant. It was 1 am and I was sleeping in the chair next to her bed when the nurse told me to come into the hall. A cop was standing right there.

@Girth-Oh Joel, you need to calm down before they find out who you are.

I for one am glad our Police did their job!

Or should PD have waited til he had a chance to run and hide again? The “person” should have thought about that before he broke the law.

If he has hit you, your daughter and your dog already, it WILL only get worse.

Take your daughter and your puppy and move into your mother’s home immediately. Have police inform him that he is to vacate the apartment. Tell the landlord you need the locks changed…or better yet give notice and move out. If it is your boyfriend’s apartment, wait until he’s gone and move everything out quickly and secretly. Get away from that dude because he’s going to kill something…either your daughter, your puppy or you. And take some time to learn how to spell better.

geez peter, she is upset so give her a break on the spelling

Good communication skills are critical when talking with the police or filling out a witness statement. Take the time now to bust out the Dictionary. You’ll thank me later on.

Is this related to the LOST DOG post in the NIT classifieds? Regardless, I can help you find a place for the puppy to stay for as long as you need…or, for good. Comment if interested & we’ll arrange private contact. I’ve been there, no shame. I hope you have somewhere to go where you & your child are safe.
Philosophus, just when I think you can’t be any more of a jackass, you go & redeem yourself. And, just when I think you’re actually going to make a good comment, you go & redeem yourself…again…of being a jackass. Please, I beg of you, shutttttt upppppppp.
…just for awhile. Crap! Was that too many Ts & Ps?

Clearly you’re a fan of mine, and a female at that. A/S/L?

Come on Peter…..as a Buddhist Priest isn’t it some kind of an unwritten law that you have to go help this poor lady out? I mean after all, to hear you tell it, you’re the one with the sack full of nuts, so shouldn’t you go and litigate for her. If the boyfriend gets snappy with you, feed him his own feces, because you don’t take any crap from anyone, NONE. Remember, you are getting ready for law school, this could be a great warm up gig for you.

lol

Find a new boy friend and do it fast. Anyone that would mistreat a puppy certainly wouldn’t hesitate on hurting you.

Not that it makes any difference to you peter but the way she spells is like she texts a lot, they cut the words down some while texting.

Good for you. Call the police and alert them to a possible problem.

Did Philosophus & LVS used to be married to each other…or, do they NEED to be? It would be so cool if they launched their own site for bickering back & forth. It could be called “All 2 of Us.”

Bicker, bicker.
Whose skin is thicker?

Whoooo cares!

Plus, your explanations & sidetrack sessions lead to more confusion than understanding. I feel dumber after reading your lover’s quarrels…I also feel like guttin’ something with a spork.

@Copycat Philly-Well troll, you and your girl friend Cassie, who I know, will be pleased to know that the real Philly and I have reached an agreement and it is working out pretty well. It turns out that we have a lot more in common than we knew. Now, you can go back to minding your own business. Are you still getting fired from every job you get Cassie?

After reading the front page of the Globe today seeing Willet, Flory and Crabb proudly standing in the field, a thought comes to mind: Wouldn’t those 3 think the people of Clear Lake have a right to know what business is allegedly coming into town when tax rebates are part of the plan? They emphasized the strict confidentiality agreement to not divulge the potential Fortune 100 company’s name. If this were a normal private sale, I would maybe agree with that, but this isn’t. This is special tax breaks being given. I’m not deliberately trying to be a bad sport about any of this, and I’m glad for Clear Lake, but I still disagree with the way these things are handled and come about. The public has a right to know up front what the public will be subsidizing. All of this is performed with the top-down, patriarchal “daddy knows best” approach to life.

As the adage goes, all good things must pass, and it was sad to hear of Sid Caeser’s departure. It was our luck that he brought to the forefront people such as Woody Allen, Carl Reiner, Neil Simon, Larry Gelbart, and one Melvin Kaminsky (winning an Oscar, Emmy, Tony, and Grammy). They all learned the business from Sid and went on to become giants in their own right.

But it was Sid that inspired and nurtured them in the production of 90 minute long live television series, “Your Show of Shows”. No laugh tracks, no video tape, no cue cards, no teleprompter. Using body language rather than one-liners to make things funny, yet not Vaudevillian.

Brooks said yesterday that Sid Caesar “Maybe the best comedian who ever practiced the trade.”

What is wrong with NIT? We reported to you that MacNider Museum director Edith Blanchard was mean to kids, yelling at them, using profanity and threatened them with kid jail, yet NIT refuses to investigate?! In addition, I have heard there may be a history of similar incidents. This is a person whose salary is paid by the City of Mason City to provide children’s classes and programs. I would never feel comfortable sending my young children there, and I’ll bet many parents would feel the same way if they knew the truth. I thought NIT was hard-hitting news???

Try doing your own investigation and post what you find here. If Matt doesnt like it then HE should have done the story himself. and If he removes your post. you have more proof of what your trying to say.

Kevin Pals telling us how pot makes you feel is like a 50 year old virgin telling us how sex feels. Totally ridiculous on every level.

And the Globe Gazette should be ashamed and embarrassed for publishing such nonsense. This is 2014, not 1984.

LOL@LVS I didn’t even state that I use cannabis fool. That comment was made just to see how quickly it would take you or any of your fellow imbecile friends to remark on here. You played right into it dude…haaaaaaaaaaaa. Like a fly in a spiders web…here you are…just waiting to be eaten. I would like to know how much of an education you’ve had to achieve so much in life. Hanging out in a forum just looking for the next person you can badger anonymously over another’s opinion. You’re truly the biggest of cowards. As for your infantile name-calling. It’s quite humorous to me. I’m betting a dollar to a donut…GED material>LMAO. You’re a sucker poncho. I played you like a fiddle just like Iowa and Phil do. As for you and your problems with vocabulary and spelling…it’s “too” bud,…not “to” my tiny little friend. Taps tip.

I din’t call you any name, but, you are pretty stupid. Just another drugger who will be put away as soon as they catch you.

In other posts you claim that nothing is done to “druggers”. FLIP FLOP. Your’e just an old alcoholic and ex-smoker and no angel yourself. You hate the government all up in your business, but love the government all up in your home if you toke pot. FLIP FLOP.

What, you are truly stoned out of your mind. Your post makes no sense whatsoever.

You and SUCKS are just spineless cowardly TROLLS who are not worth debating. Philly and I have an agreement and I will stick to it as long as he does. Now, go back to the playpen where you belong TROll. You are way to childish to debate.

LVS-Just a question. Why is everyone a childish cowardly troll that does not share the same option as you? Do you ever just debate the facts of an issue with out having to call everyone that is not on your side of the issue names? Again, just a question.

@Iowa Viking-I only react like that when attacked for no reason like the trolls do. I also have no patience with admitted druggers and felons. If they attack me I will fight back. It is in my nature I guess. And I do comment on lots of things without the reaction you see above. Does that answer your question?

LVS-yes, that does answer my question. Not that you owed me an answer or anything but I do appreciate. After reading further some of the comments by others I do understand now why you reacted the way you did. I guess I prematurely wrote this comment without fully understanding what you were up against. Thanks again

@Iowa Viking-I am trying to change my stripes somewhat (hard for a old guy) I have figured out that the two biggest so called doppers are really just liars. No one but a fool would come on a public forum and admit to being a felon. I have it on good authority that the police do look at these sites. So, I am just going to ignore them. Philosophus and I have an agreement and it seems to be working out alright.

BTW,..I have nothing against anyone and/or their sexual preference as it is none of my business just as it’s noones business who uses cannabis responsibly…just to clarify.

@Girth-so you think it is no ones business if you use pot. Why don’t you try saying that to law enforcement when they put you in jail for ILLEGAL drugs. Your brain is already fried and you are to stoned to know it.
