the Council went into closed session last night to discuss these 5, well, horrible, candidates for City Administrator. NIT remains silent on their dubious credibility. Max weaver called for the rejection of all 5 and to begin the search process over. Will NIT be calling Mayor Brain-dead for an update? I really thought Matt would expose these charlatans and their backgrounds of numerous difficulties in multiple cities and Roder for bankruptcy. Ashlee Miller exposed them immediately as frauds and nothing from NIT. disappointing. Thanks to Weaver though for at least saying something last night.

MASON CITY SCHOOLS …
As of February 5, enrollment is down -27 students across the district (-2 at preschools, -8 at the elementaries, -4 at John Adams and -13 at High School) since October 1 (count day)
High School had 220 seniors on count day and there are now 207 seniors because of 13 mid-year graduations
With an anticipated 265 kindergartners for next year and 220 seniors (on count day) there will be a natural increase of +45 students in enrollment

Appears that IEDA has set their mid-May meeting as the deadline for Chodur/G8 to prove there is $10M from him / lender for the hotel. Allow them a month up to the IEDA June meeting to verify and accept or probably void this Renaissance approval.
So the Mayor may have to call off the celebrating come May assuming G8 fails to deliver the ten mil. As before in MC and Vista, CA (how’s that lawsuit going, anyway?)
Maybe Schickel’s team could co-sign the lender loan and pledge their company toward retiring it to ease the risk and enhance the security for a lender. He says this is a TEAM!

Skipper quits the Globe (probably more likely he was fired, or laid off or the Globe simply couldn’t pay him $11 an hour anymore) … meanwhile, he’s been training his 23-year-old replacement over the last few months – the kid was an intern as recently as 2016 back in Pennsylvania (he’ll bolt MC soon, just watch, so Skipper’s “training” will be another waste for the Globe). All this as Skipper prepares for his new career teaching fake news classes at NIACC. Seriously, Skipper is such an expert on the creation of fake news, he is teaching a class on it. I predict Mayberry will be gone next.

MY VIEWS OF THE DEMISE OF THE GLOBE-GAZETTE: Part One:
There seems to be a few gaps re the (basic) history of the demise of the Globe-Gazette (Or perhaps I have merely not seen/read some of the details posted on NIT?)
There were/are MANY more reasons than just printing press issues. The management is using THAT as a “smoke screen” to publicly justify their CRUEL actions.
But whatever. PERSONALLY, I had a L-O-O-N-G professional relationship with the Globe. As such, I am privy to MUCH “inside information”.
I will begin with when the “axe” started (unexpectedly) falling several years ago when the beloved/well-liked/long-term person at THE front desk (the first person you saw when you entered the Globe when you entered the building from the (300) North Washington Ave. entrance was unexpectedly dismissed.

Such breaking news on NIT. Glad NIT gets around to covering major national stories, such as Florida’s school shooting, several days after the fact. I’m also glad NIT dampens down any story which might affect my pro NRA, Trumpian worldview.
