Wow! Mr nice guy Kohan, plans to pay up his taxes delinquent from day of mall purchase in 2016. Plus he is excited about getting a $12.5 Million gift arena from the community to his LLC entity in dear MC. “Will do all he can to get it “. Of course . It’s FREE to him and the taxes on it the City will pay him in the rent he will get from us. Given his history to date don’t count on his using this City rent for keeping the taxes current or for much mall upkeep.

Is there some reason that more press is not being given to these City administrator finalists? The mayor seems to believe these are outstanding candidates.
1. O’donnell. Fired from Dixon, IL on a 3-2 vote, but one of the dissenting members voted against paying him any severance or it would have been 4-1. He has also been a finalist in 9 other communities recently. He rubbed council members and staff the wrong way according to news articles. He was fired in less than 18 months.
2. Pederson. Let go with a $225,000 severance in Kentucky. In the last 13 years he has had 3 different positions. He was also let go in Dodge City Kansas after 2 years. Appears to be in late 50’s or early 60’s, so probably more interested in retirement and perhaps a 3rd severance to set him up.
3. Roder. Has declared personal bankruptcy and has taken both Northfield and Norfolk for severance packages. Only been in Independence for a short time and has been finalist in other communities. Was recently passed over in Spencer. He also reportedly had problems in Denison.
4. Guy that just got let go in Florida was also asked to leave Ottumwa after what the newspaper described as a tumultuous relationship with Council and media. So, he has been let go from his last 2 jobs.
5. Lansing. Simply would be in way over his head.
Come on Mason City and NIT. Let’s not let this happen. The rest of the media has not stepped up in the public interest and called attention to the fact that these are people who have been discarded by other communities and our Mayor calls them outstanding. Really have to question his thinking.

So now onto a more serious note. I remember when that old guy used to come into a downtown restaurant to eat and poop would fall out of his pant leg onto the floor. So sad to get old and infirm.
I’m not gonna get involved with the grievance between those who were showcased adversely on NIT and Matt the Publisher, but I do have to wonder if Matt ever regrets having adopted the Law and Order stance he has chosen? (which inevitably places him at odds with many of the arrested people he has showcased). Did he think his public shaming tactics were going to make him a popular guy with those he highlights? It’s better to offer positive solutions for society, rather than be a hard ass who wants to tar and feather people in the public square.
We should all learn how to live in peace and harmony with one another. Factory workers please continue to support welfare recipients with the understanding you get to dominate on NIT and feel more superior to those you support. Sounds like a good boost to your self esteem, and a consolation for all the crap you have to eat from your superiors at work. Let’s call it Pecking Order. PO. Pissed Off Pecking Order…POPO.
