People will need to vote for people who are willing to cut benefits back and stop letting criminals run the town and state. Changing laws requires state reps with that attitude. Sharon Steckman is up for election again, hope someone runs against her that has a different attitude. She’s been promising great things and it just keeps getting worse. Let’s try someone new.
Does anyone know if it’s true that cities can put a limit on how many section 8 (low income housing)vouchers that are issued? If so, is Mason City going to do something? I see new people every day that are not from here. I am in a position to observe this. I do not see how people from out of town would be coming here for a job because we don’t have many jobs.

Vilsack is eager to spend American tax dollars on Mexican citizens, while our federal debt goes through the roof, past the treeline and is headed for the stratosphere.

I have noticed a lot of recent comments being made about the police, county attorney, and judges being blamed for some of the violence on the north end continuing. I do agree there are problems, however I do believe that the problems are a result of the Low Rent Housing. I was recently told by a member of the Housing Authority that they are advertising Free Housing here in Iowa to areas of Chicago and Detriot. Of course, these individuals would want to move to Iowa and not pay a dime for living expenses. I feel that we should stop advertising and giving free places to live to the people in these crime filled areas of Chicago and Detriot, they would stop coming to our area. Instead these low rent housing units should be offered to individuals here in Iowa.
Coulg we just get in some reps from this area that will increase penalties for crime and quit spending so much money? I hope somebody runs for office that has goals like that.
Does what happened in Colorado seem bad? Just imagine if all those victims were taken to the hospital for treatment and surgeries and there was no blood available for transfusions, etc., which could result in more lives being lost. According to the website for the LifeServe Blood Center (where I gave blood last week – nicest ladies you will ever meet), there is only a 3-4 day supply of most blood types available and only a 1 day supply of type O negative. I wish everyone who has ever undergone surgery or been in a car accident or had family or friends that were would give blood regularly. It does not hurt, takes maybe a half hour, and you can save someone’s life – maybe even your own. You can contact the Red Cross for draw sites or else go to http://www.lifeservebloodcenter.org to find a location and time to give.

I see the liberal hacks at ABC are trying to blame the Tea Party for the tragedy in CO this morning. It didn’t take them long to turn something like this political. They did the same thing with the incident with Rep. Giffords in AZ.

Last night I saw mcpd do a felony stop, 4 cop cars pull 2 people out of their car at gun point, hand cuff them then search their car then let them go. Wasn’t too sure what was going on if it was practice or maybe they got the wrong vehicle or what. After they searched the car they talked to the people and they were very nice to them.
Can someone tell me why there are arrests and jailings for 5th degree theft on the website, but the MCPD won’t do anything about 5th degree bad checks? All you can do is submit them via their website and nothing happens. It makes me mad that some people get arrested for theft under $200 if they shoplift from a store, but if they give you a bad check, you’re SOL for pressing charges or ever getting your money unless you sue them in civil court.
