NORTHWOOD — Worth County supervisors approved $133,644.37 in county claims, authorized a full-time recorder’s office employee to be shared between offices and designated a November observance honoring veterans during their Monday, October 26, 2026, meeting.
Supervisors Mark Smeby, A.J. Stone and Enos Loberg attended, with all recorded actions approved unanimously. Loberg chaired the meeting, which adjourned at 9:09 a.m.
Recorder’s office hiring approved
The board approved hiring a full-time employee in the recorder’s office at a stated pay amount of $41,150, with the employee to be shared between offices.
The minutes do not name the employee, identify the other offices involved or specify a start date. They also do not explicitly state the pay period for the $41,150 figure.
The action follows earlier staffing changes in the department. As NIT reported when Worth County appointed a new recorder, supervisors named Jolene Hickle to the position effective October 1 and approved Sara Christianson’s appointment as deputy recorder.
County approves $133,644 in claims
Payments for engineering department services, supplies and fuel accounted for several of the largest items in the approved claims schedule.
The largest listed payment was $12,577 to WHKS & Co. for engineering department services, followed by $11,570 to Cemstone Concrete Materials for engineering department supplies and $11,032.81 to Henry M. Adkins & Son for auditor’s office services.
Other sizable claims included $8,740 to Quick Supply Co. for engineering department supplies, $8,259.53 to Visa listed under public health services and $8,058.09 to AgVantage FS for engineering department fuel.
The schedule provides vendor names and brief expense descriptions but does not identify the individual purchases behind the Visa charge or explain the specific work covered by several service payments.
The latest claims approval follows a substantially larger round of spending at the October 12 meeting, when Worth County advanced its administration building borrowing plan and approved more than $1.3 million in county and drainage bills.
Veterans observance set for November 4–11
Supervisors unanimously approved the Worth County Operation Green Light Proclamation, designating the county a Green Light for Veterans County.
The proclamation identifies November 4–11, 2026, as a period to salute and honor veterans’ service and sacrifices. Smeby, Stone and Loberg each voted in favor during a roll-call vote.
The minutes do not list a separate event schedule or spending authorization associated with the proclamation.
Drainage work and weed report approved
The board also approved a drainage work order for Drainage District 11–Main A, submitted by Jaret Stoffregen for the Charles E Stoffregen Trust. The minutes do not specify the work’s scope or cost.
Supervisors accepted the 2026 Weed Commissioner’s Report presented by Mike Bode. No findings or recommendations from that report are included in the meeting minutes.
The board also approved its October 26 agenda and the minutes from October 19.
