MASON CITY — A Mason City woman previously jailed for violating probation in a case involving allegations she rammed another woman’s vehicle is back in the Cerro Gordo County Jail to serve a two-day sentence for operating while intoxicated.
Gabrielle Jade Marie Young (pictured at top), 32, was booked into the jail at 1:29 p.m. October 28, 2026. The county’s jail roster lists her as serving a sentence for first-offense OWI.
Young pleaded guilty September 29, 2026, to first-offense operating while under the influence, a serious misdemeanor. Judge Adam D. Sauer sentenced her that day to two days in jail and imposed a $1,250 fine, according to Iowa court records.
A $187.50 surcharge brings the financial assessment to $1,437.50. The court financial summary shows that full amount remained unpaid when the record was retrieved. A court-ordered payment plan was filed September 29.
The conviction stems from a May 9, 2026, offense. Mason City police filed the criminal complaint in Cerro Gordo County case OWOM009508.
Young initially entered a written not-guilty plea June 9. A waiver of rights and guilty plea was filed September 29, followed by the judgment and sentence. The court lists the conviction as resulting from a negotiated or voluntary guilty plea.
The new sentence follows a separate case covered by NIT more than a decade ago.
In NIT’s August 2015 report on Young’s probation violation and jail sentence, police described a July 28, 2014, confrontation near the 1300 block of North Washington Avenue involving Young, her ex-boyfriend and his new girlfriend.
Police alleged Young intentionally struck the other woman’s vehicle with her own while Young’s one-month-old child was inside her car.
That case led to a January 2015 plea agreement. A child endangerment charge was dismissed, and Young received deferred judgments on assault and assault causing bodily injury charges.
After a subsequent probation violation, Young was ordered to serve concurrent 14-day jail terms and was placed on probation for two years, according to NIT’s earlier coverage.
The current conviction is for first-offense OWI and is separate from the earlier assault case.
